Bladejunkie...The Saito 65 won't be anywhere near enough engine. The 82 is very good...but just barely. Many are going with a Saito 100 for example. The UCD needs a good engine to make it come alive...
Thanks
Barry

I still have a bad radio glitch, hit issue that I can't seem to cure. I re-routed my antenna inside an antenna tube to see if that helps. For whatever reason I can't duplicate the issue on the ground, only once the plane is in the air...and my shorts are wet from wondering if I'll get her down in one piece again! Very frustrating...[:@]

Try running your antenna along the the underside of the left wing. Just tape it temporarily to the underside. See if that helps. I've heard of one or two that had glitch problems that this cured. Good luck.
Thanks

My first DO had a Saito 65 on it and was one of the nicest flying planes I've ever flown. It tumbled very well, did real nice flat spins but not really enough power to do a rising flat spin, it would hover but didn't have much of a pull out. It didn't have the unlimited vertical that my second DO has with the 100 but I enjoyed flying it with the 65 as much or maybe even more than with the 100. With the 100 this plane is just crazy but it's still very fun with the smaller engines.

Thanks guys for the replys I think I'll go with the 65. I'm just kinda experimenting with the 3D stuff anyway so if it does'nt workout I'll try the 82.
Again thanks for your help.

Oh yeah I almost forgot rtn9105 what prop did you use with the 65?I've got a couple of APC 13x4w and 14x4w as well as some 13x8, 12x6 and 12x8 props laying around.
Thanks Jim

If this is not the case then most probably the glitching servo is bad, try another one.

The glitch can be caused by loose and vibrating metall parts. The glow fourstroke engines in it self can not cause radio interference but if you are by accident using a onboard glow driver and the contact is bad or loose it will cause radio noise.

AKFireMedic,
On "Do" #1 Hi tec radio gear running a YS-63 and then S-100 I had no
glitch problems.... On "Do" #2, S-82 Same radio gear in the same location, and
the ant. wire ran out the bottom of the fuse to the tail as before I also tried taping
the wire to the top of the fuse.. I have had a glitch problem from the onset...
I have check all even went so far as replacing reciever, servos and wires with
no change.. I did have sull. tail wires, but that was modified and finally removed
and I still had an intermitent glitch.. I was going to try the glitch buster<??> but
I ended up just taping my ant. wire to the bottom of my left wing with scotch tape
which I still do, no more glitch problems

Well, good news and bad. The good news is that I got a couple of tanks out of the Do today with no glitches! She flies great! Now that bad news, It was at a totally different flying field than I normally fly at that is about an hour drive away from my house.[:@] So, blessing and curse I guess. There aparently isn't anything wrong with the plane at all. But, I may have to go to Spektrum to continue to fly glitch free at my local field. Thanks ron for the help, I may try that at my local field to see if it helps.

hi everyone.i was wondering if anyone was using the servos that come with the dx 7 on their ucd 46 and if so how do they work and did you use them for all 6 servos or did you use 2 of something else to go with the 4 from the dx 7? thanks for any input

I have no personaly experiance with the Spektrum servos but I believe they are basically JR537s in a different case. They would probably be fine on the ailerons and maybe even the elevators but you would probably want a bit more on the rudder. Also, you will want to run them at 6v.

OK, got some good fall flying in yesterday with the UCD. The radio hit issue I was having is some kind of RF noise at the field I was flying at. Yesterday I was able to get the CG dialed in a bit better and the plane flys pretty well. I found that it does an INCREDIBLE inverted elevator and snaps into a hover pretty well too. I haven't been able to get it to lock into a solid hover without lot of flying but I still need to laterally balance it and tune the setup just a bit more. I also need to work on the KE. This plane just doesn't want to KE without a lot of flying either and I know it isn't known for it's clean KE flight anyway. So, here are a few pics of a fine AK day!

always great to have a day like that. i just moved to Nevada and had a hard time finding a good place to fly but i finally came up with one on advice of an oldtimer that has lived here awhile.

That looks great Gary. Not much to hit in a dry lake bed and everywhere I have been in Nevada there were plenty of them to go around. There is a problem with your slow and low UCD pic though......the plane is right side up?!? What gives??

Gary...That's looks great! I can see you are having a good time. Does the elevation effect you much? Do you like Nevada now that you've been there a while? Looking good as always.
Me, I'm grounded for a while. Maybe this weekend if everything comes together.
Thanks
Barry

Hi Barry, good to hear from ya, yes i am doing ok here and really like my new job.
the altitude change from 1600 to 5600 did make some changes but not real bad, they are most noticible when im flying my bi-plane in the form of wanting to drop earlier while landing, and i notice when hovering that the hang power is a little less but as you know all my planes are overpowered and i guess that was a good thing, but all in all flying here is just as much fun as in Trona.
hopefully you will get to fly this weekend, good luck and nice to see your still out there.....now where is that Rob and Ron

I'm still here.....[8D] I haven't flown in a while. My wife and I took a vacation and then I went bowhunting for deer. Yep, I got one!! [X(]
My Do isn't ready to fly at the moment. I need to put the engine back on and get it going again.

Wow Gary! Sounds like you're going to have a good vacation. Doless though........ Hmmmm, that doesn't sound like a vacation without a Do. Should be fun though. And you say you're going to live in a cold zone like Barry? I don't know if I could handle that. Yikes! [X(]

We just had our first freeze here the night after those pictures were taken. I too am going hunting and won't be able to fly untill the middle of October. I just hope the weather holds out a bit so that I can fly a couple more times before it gets really cold.
BTW, that second set of pics looks much more like what I was expecting from the first set.
