Hi All, I am new to this forum and having a hard time doing searches and just don't have time to read 230+ pages to see if this has been covered or not, so I am sorry in advance for any repetition.
I just bought a U CAN DO 46 and plan to use it with my old reliable OS Max 61 SF long stroke. I was thinking of starting with a 15 x 4 APC prop. Does that sound like a good starting point? Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks,
JM

nick, the stock mount is great for the saito 82
i know the feeling about starting a new build, its the funnest part, or is it the flying........
stiffe, i am returning the saito 125 to my third build on the 60 size(its in the mail
) i have a 100 in the 46
jmalotky, the 15x4 is a great prop for the ucd 46.

Hey guys I was reading some info. on that cline pump It says it pumps between 2 and 12 psi. is it adjustable? Concerned about lines coming off uder pressure.

no nick, its not adjustable, it just depends on what engine you use.
you need not worry about the lines blowing off using a saito 82, it will work fine, but then again you wont need a cline for the 46, just the 60 maybe.some have no problems and some have nothing but

I doubt that the 55 would be enough engine to have fun with it.

C'mon, it's rated for a .32-.50 two stroke. It should be overpowered with a .55 2-stoke

/On a serious note though, with an APC 12.25x3.75, it will have enough oomph to hover, but probably won't have much left to climb out.

Yeah you're right.....REQUIRES: Engine: .32 -.50 (5-8 cc) (2-stroke)
OR .52 -.70 (8-11cc) (4-stroke)
NOTE: For maximum 3D aerobatic performance, choose an engine in the
upper power range. The O.S. Max .50SX (OSMG0550) is an ideal engine
to utilize the full aerobatic potential of this airplane.
SPECS: Wingspan: 56.75" (1441mm)
Wing Area: 904 sq in (58.3 sq dm)
Weight: 5 - 5lbs 10oz (2268-2551g)
Wing Loading:12.7-14.3 oz/sq ft (39-44 g/dm2)
I haven't ever seen one fly on the smaller 2 stroke engines but I just don't think it would have enough power to fly much 3D with it.
I've always had a Saito 82 on mine and while that sounds like a bunch of engine it's about the perfect match for the 46 Do. I don't know what works the best in the 2 stroke engines.

Somewhere in the thread someone mentioned using a evolution .46 with the 12.25x3.75 and really liked it. I doubt they have seen or flown it with enough engine to really perform. I think for a newbie to just go spin, loop, and buzz around, the smaller 2 strokes would perform fine. It's just amazing how gently(on low rates) and slow this thing will fly. I'm tempted to put a GMS .47 on mine just to see how it would do. Maybe...............

PROJECT X
I wanna blow the wings off my UCD 46..or try to..will a OS .91 4-stroke do that?
I'M putting HS-5955 on ailerons and want to fly extreme speed, not 3d. Would a ROSSI 60 turning a 9x9 prop at 16,000 rpm do better?

I have a older saito 120, I could use..but I was saving it for a bigger plane. I'm also thinking of making new ailerons that are half as wide (around 2").
The saito 120 has a wider motor hookup and I would need to put a bigger motor mount on..the one that came with the UCD just barely is wide enough for the OS .91. This is gonna turn alot of heads when this SPEED UCD, zooms screaming by! haha.
hmmm...maybe i need some retracts?

You`re kidding about this extreme speed U-cando right??? Turbine??? Maybe some minor flutter??? By the time you are finished with this project I think you can name the plane U-can`t do, he he he

I like the challenge of being different with some of my projects. Because the wing is fat..probably won't get up to much speed..but since I picked up the UCD for next to nothing and have the spare parts to try out. I'm think I might want to chop off half the elevators and rudders..
If all goes well, I can name the plane "I-DID-IT"
HAHA

Gary...
The "Do" does great..... But speed, your right the wings etc. is not in that ball park,
But if you have the time, and want to pretty much rebuild the plane... Well, Why not...
As Gary said... Get some pics, or better yet a vid of your speed demon.. Good Luck..
