RE: Showtime

:)I'm sealing up the hinge gaps tonight. Had to buy some "Pearl Purple" for the underside. What a hassle, but I sure like the way it looks. Did this on my Yak, took me three hours to get all the colors to match, but man it looked pretty cool. Decided to do this one the same way. Got all the servos mounted and making progress. I'm gonna use carbon fiber pushrods, at least on the elevators and maybe rudder (depending on where I mount it) but the ailerons are to short a span to use carbon fiber. Also, trying to find that pesky non H9 fuel tank.
This plane looks to have considerable less right hand thrust built into the firewall than say...the Funtana. Anybody notice that? Is it an issue? Does it have the right amount of thrust? Just another one of those things to keep me awake at nights.
Thanks,
Barry

well glad mike cleared up the horn discussion..

dont look like it will be good flying this weekend according to USair wind forcast... then again that thing is wrong more than it is right.. hope is wrong in forcasting that it will be windy because i want to try the freshly straigtend showtime... I am wondering if this will also reduce some of my wing rock..

The thrust on mine is on the money.... i feel what you are saying out of the last 5 ARFs ive done. all have needed trust changes. so i expected that on this but to my supprise it tracks well at all angles..

Hey Barry... Are you useing the C.F. for weight savings or just strength??
You wouldn't have #'s ???? I thought of ordering urtracote for sealing of
my hinges.... But I'll just go the packing tape route:-(

Lee...I read what Mike said...... I'm going to try it that way and keep an
eye on it.. I've never installed a removable stab..... When you drill/tap
the hori. stab., I guess you are just drilling one end of the tube??? Do you
use any loctite etc. on the threads??? Guess noone's screw has fell out??

Well keep it going....... That D_m UPS said the plane and my radio gear will
be here Monday..... But I don't trust UPS:-)

Bit the bullet today and just got mine! I could not resist although I have no need or room for another airplane! ahhhhh! the madness!

I will power mine with a YS 110 and Hitec digis all the way around. Building will not start until next week. Pics to come!

:)I'm saying it's him.
Raideron, Using CF pushrods mostly because I think they are a little stiffer. It will help on the weight but probably all three would only make a 1/2 oz difference.
UPS will get your plane there. What condition, that's another story. But honestly, I have never had a plane damaged in shipment. I know you did, but wasn't it used?
Anyways, have a great time building this plane. I think you'll be very impressed with the quality of the kit.
Drum, thanks on the thrust opinion. I won't change anything until I fly it. I thought my Funtana had too much right thrust.
Well, just got home so I'm gonna go build for a couple hours. Mines actually starting to look like something. Maybe even an airplane.
Thanks,
Barry

RIGHT!!! its a huge city and you guys have 30 clubs so there is no way that 2, 15 year olds that fly there would be able to come accross each other... also BARCC(wich BTW is the name of the club) posted everyday up untill last month when everyone got tired of it and blocked him.what did he do fall off the planet ? i think not for such an avid poster... twist joined 2 days ago and is up to 21 posts (OF NOTHING)

but here is the post that proves it is BARCC. noitice the mention of mike mcconville and then notice the reply given when no one answered. classic BARCC.... POST # 2047

If I'm understanding the topic correctly, its about the nuts that go onto the 8-32 norn bolt and tighten against the control surface. Right? If so, its not a mistake. They arent necessary, except on the rudder if using a bolt throught the rudder for pull/pull. Glue the bolt into the hardpoint in the surfaces and it wont go anywhere.
Yup as per the manual I only have my jam nut on the rudder. the others do not have them and you just need to epoxy them to keep them in place. I have mine glued and have had no problems.

RE: Showtime

Well back to the actual thread subject.

i took mine out a tried it after fixing the warps.I used to like this plane alot, NOW i LOVE IT. It tracked great before but man this thing is nice. It has to be the best (Best of both worlds) planes ive flown to date.. just removing the warps It seemed as if everything was better than it was before. ALSO now i can get it to waterfall no problem. I can get flat spins perfectly flat top and bottom. Hovering was easier and it will torque roll FAST..i lost about 80% of my wing rock in a harrier. i was able to get the rolling harriers both ways at a high alpha nice and perfect like the F90. Walls better than any plane i have. parachutes nice too ( the decent is not perfectly vert like the EF yak though) I didnt try an elevator.4 point rolls are practicly 0 coupling on all 4 sides

played with the SFGs some more too and got pretty good on the KE square loops. also found you can go high A KE and bring it into a vertical side slip with the right amount of throttle and then you can turn it around in circles

as you can see i think its worth every penny it cost for the plane.. it is my new favorite plane. oh yea.. and it was also pretty windy at times today without SFGs it just dont seem to bother it.

Hope you guys are as happy with your as as i am with mine:D

does Saito 150 actually fits without requiring too much surgery?

Barry Cazier 07-16-2005 06:55 PM

RE: Showtime

:)Drum, man that sounds great!!!! Were you doing the flat spins with the SFG? Waterfalls? Do they make those stunts easier?
You are running 110, right?
Very encourageing news.
Thanks,
Barry
