so far she is BREEZING together and i am seeing nothing but quality way better than F90. it is also pretty good size for what you might think a 68" plane would be . the elevators are amazing!! to say the least and an ultimate sized rudder compared to plane..

RE: Showtime

yea wife called me off after 2 hours.. but that is the progress i made in that time.. the last 2 planes i did i would have rather gone back to kit building. but this one is going smooth so far. i did see some areas where i needed to CA in the fuse area. when you open the canopy your like WOW. there is some nice lazer cuting in there and it is OPEN . i was contemplating puting my tank over the cg but the only thing in the fuse that blocks anything is the wing tube and it is smack dab in the way. if you put it behind the tube you will run into the same problem as the F90. as it runs out of fuel it will gain nose weight . so im just going to but the back of the tank against the front of the tube. I am also going to wait and balance it to see weither im going pull pull or in the tail rudder servo. I bet mike has run his with a YS-110;) on the prototype he can tell me before i get there,HE HE.. I see he is contributing to this thread

RE: Showtime

I don't know why wives won't leave us alone to build our new kits, when we are in the house they ask us why we don't go to the shop and get out of thier hair, and when we are in the shop all weekend they accuse us of not paying them any attention.-----oh well.

I only have a good running saito 1.00 to put on mine. it is more than ample with a 16 x4 using 30% omega on an 8 pound Harrier 3d. Hopefuly won't get too much heavier than that so the performance will be adequate. Had a 1.50 in an Funtana 90, that worked out well but parted company with the airframe and engine so the 1.00 gets the nod. Will know one way or the other in a few days.

Thats true for the OS that its comin close to YS110 price

I checked the specs and the:

OS 108 is ///// ST2300
26.5oz ///// 38.0oz. w/muffler 31oz. w/o muffler, not sure how heavy the pitts is
3.0bhp at 16,000rpms ///// 3.7bhp at 12,600rpms
$269.99 ///// $149.99

I have not tried the TS 110 in it, but I do plan to after the NATS if I get a chance. I'm sure it will be excellent in it.

RE: Showtime

at $269 IMO you could save the extra and get the $335 and get the 110 and IMO be alot happier with the power to weight performance. I know you are itching to get something going but i have been there before it is better to hold out and save to get what you want and not what you can get by with. you will be happier in the long run..

I guess your right! I'm trying to go the cheap way since I don't have a job yet(i'm 15)so you know money doesn't really come easy. But i'm going to go and apply at a few more places and hope someone calls me.

RE: Showtime

I believe the YS110 weighs more than the Saito 100. With the Saito, I have the rudder servo in the tail, and a 2700mA NiMh rx battery pack under the fuel tank to get the cg I want (which is not tail heavy)

Fletch124 06-29-2005 08:46 PM

RE: Showtime

What about servos? I checked horizons recommended servos but they are WAY to expensive at $100 a pop.

drumbum 06-29-2005 08:47 PM

RE: Showtime

ok so im thinking i will be at simmilar because i am running a Lipo for a battery that will make up for the weight difference in the motors.. but i will still check it due to differences in one plane to the other befor i cut the opening in the tail

drumbum 06-29-2005 08:51 PM

RE: Showtime

the 645MG would be bare minumum wich is what im using,, at 6v i have also skimped on servos and have had some almost catastrophic falures.. if i had the cash i would go with the 5645 digitals

MMcConville 06-29-2005 08:55 PM

RE: Showtime

I would stay with metal geared servos. The control surfaces are very large and were running a lot of throw. I like the JR 9411 on elev and ail and the 8411SA on rudder. Lightweight choices with great strength and precision.
You certainly dont need those servos, but its not a model suitable for standard sport servos either.

Fletch124 06-29-2005 09:14 PM

RE: Showtime

Mike I saw on horizons site that those servos that you listed are, Torque: 82 oz/in and the hitec HS-625MG are, Torque 4.8/6.0v : 76 / 94 oz.

RE: Showtime

The only engine that I would consider with this plane is a YS110 swingin a 16x6" APC.
