Dont feel bad I'm an 1/8" forward and I measured three times. Flew my YAK this morning, all is well with the world. :D:D:D:D This is suposed to fly like a foamy, if it flys half as nice as my YAK then it will be hard to get another. I better order one on Monday!:) Big Barry |
RE: Showtime
Yes, after neo landed and I saw that the ele linkage came apart, I checked mine ASAP! I found one loose on the right aileron.
I put 5 more flights on mine. I'm setting two different programs up... one for the SFG's and one for pattern. In pattern mode, the os1.08 and the 16-8 apc are a good combo. I forgot to go to low rates on an up line... I was planning on doing a full snap, but ended up being 1 1/4 very violent snap, it lost some momentum, but kept going on the up line. The airframe seens to handle the speed very well. I kept the down lines back. but went to full throttle in the flat. No sign of flutter at all. I was doing big jet like loops! Entrance and exit were almost at the same point. The sound of the 1.08 is sweet. The mostly open pica muffler lets it cackle, when you throttle back on the down lines. One miss... the purple covering is wrinkling in the sun... bad. Looks like I have to get out the heat gun again. Looked good out of box, when over it to seal edges and snug covering... didn't help much. It maybe getting monocote this winter. Later, Scott |
RE: Showtime
RCFlyguy let me twiddle the sticks on his showtime for a few minutes this afternoon. I was extremely impressed!! It felt extremely smooth and precise, yet had all the control and power of a good 3D machine. To me, this is the ultimate combination.
I've been head-over-heels in love with my 35% Carden this season...flown it almost exclusively. I went to giant scale because I never found a smaller plane that flew as nice as the giant stuff. The showtime is by-far the closest I've found to a 35% plane. There was still a difference...but it wasn't much. McConnville did an awesome job on this one! |
RE: Showtime
Well my showtime is no more...
3rd flight today, just after takeoff went vertical for about 150 ft and flipped ailerons to high rates (i keep elevator on high). did a blender with a long decent with just ailerons then another pretty long pause with the ailerons and rudder. then i went to flaten it at the bottom and it never flattenend out. by this time i was about 40ft up. so i gassed it to pull it out..It still didnt pull out and kept spiraling into the ground still at full throttle trying to pull it out..... after examining the wreckage i found nothing out of the ordinary. so we hooked the battery up after we figured it wasnt going to explode (Li-Po).. as soon as i hooked it up i noticed that when it crashed the ailerons were in high rates and the elevator was in low rates.. so i concluded i crashed it due to pilot error.. low rates were not enough to pull it out of the blender.. that coupled with high rates on ailerons created a MAJOR fight trying to save it.. I SHOULD HAVE CHECKED BOTH SWITCHES BEFORE GOING ITO THE BLENDER[:@].. I will have to wait a week or so but i am ordering another.. IT destroyed the fuse, cowl canopy, wing tube, damaged 1 wing,(the SFGs were not on), so now i have spare parts for the next one. it also broke my needle valve on my YS-110... hopefully there are no bent pushrods.. the ground was fairly soft where it hit but like i said it was at full throttle.. i backed off but dont know it it had hit by then or not.. |
RE: Showtime
Sorry about your mishap Lee[:o].... Hopefully all else is in good
shape for your new one!! |
RE: Showtime
:)Drumbum, Sorry man. I just hate it when you crash. Especially a brand new plane. Nothing anybody says helps, but it happens to all of us. If you want to fly crazy (3D) it's gonna happen. But, I'm still sorry.
thanks\\ Barry |

The SFG was bent on the first take off when I under estimated ground roll for the ship and brushed some high grass at the end of the field! They are not real strong, especially under load after a quick CA repair, they still bent again so I ordered a couple more.
Oh well, it flies ok without them but it is much better with the SFGs onboard. Skyking |

RE: Showtime
Ok so I have a Fun90s with a saito 150 that snaps out of everything at slow speeds and am looking at this plane that is said to fly better than it but has LESS wing area. Should I believe that it will fly much different at slow speeds? I am selling my Funtana and am thinking of this plane or a profile. What do ya think I should do?
Thanks Dave |
RE: Showtime
Had a good day with mine, 160 still fresh and fat. Vid to come.
I saw a post about ripping a wing half off due to flutter. THE SFG'S WILL FLUTTTTTER with just a bit too much speed. The first time it happened, I was running some basic patter stuff and on a very gentle pull from vertical, one flutter like CRAZY!!! It happened 2 more times on that flight. On the next i only did it once and on all the others never fluttered. Just kept is a modest pace and on down lines I made sure I rolled it or snapped it to slow it down a bit, no problem. On the CG point, its a tad nose heavy, dry. Without the wings on, its a tad tail heavy on the tube. Highly impressed with this plane. Inverted flat spins slow and stable. Only could get knife edge spin from inverted flat spin. WATERFALL!!!!! GEEEZZZZZZ....Rotates without loosing altitude. I didn't really work on catching it back in a hover, however it should be pretty easy. Parachute, DAM!!!! Rock solid and almost comes to a stop. Harrier real well. Gotta keep a little power on, harrier doesn't need the nose real high. Inverted harriers better than upright. Suicide slides well. Motor is not turned on, so a little more precise low end and it should come almost straight down. Snaps and flips well and easy to catch in knife edge. Falling leaf, the best I have ever flown. Rotates very well like its crazy tail heavy, however its not. Fat 160 puts it in orbit from a hover. Foamy power. Flys very slow, very well. If you get it too slow, it will drop a wing, a little power and its flying again. Would not do a toilet bowl, it would snap out. Didn't get a pinwhell, snaps out too. SFG Flutter, you have been warned. Throttle control and it is controllable. Maybe some flying wires, they would help a bunch. I never took the SFG's off, don't want, thats the reason I got the plane. It has been YNOT approved. Not that means anything to you, however it means allot to me. Too many "3D" planes have not been approved. |
RE: Showtime
:)Thanks for the mini review YNOT. You tell us what it does and doesn't do well. You probably have more power than anybody so it sounds like the plane handles that well too. I'm betting a YNOT approved plane would be one I like as well.
Drumbum, so...you were thinking of moving the CG forward? I'm balancing mine tonight so your timing is good. Well, not the crash but the CG info. I'm releying on you to give me a starting point. The manual says 7 7/16". Where would you suggest as a starting point? Thanks, Barry |

RE: Showtime
Greetings,
I had the post on the wing flutter......I didnt mention that I did not have the SFG's on at the time........ |
RE: Showtime
OH! No SFG's. I donno
VIDEO!!!!!!! None of its low becasue the motor is new and didn;t need any low deadsticks. Thanks to Coverup for shooting this. http://www.netlight.org/YNOTshowtime.wmv |
RE: Showtime
:)YNOT, That is a great video!!! Thanks for posting that. Man that plane looks "crisp" in it's movements. I'm suspecting these were some of your first flights too, right? Very cool. Very cool.
Thanks, Barry |
RE: Showtime
yea, I just put the 4th flight on it and you see the end of the 4th when the motor quit. Blew the plug.
|
RE: Showtime
awesome!
great vid and great flying too. Do you actually have an OS 160 on it? That's a lot of motor isn't it for a "90" size frame :). |
RE: Showtime
is it possible to fly the showtime without the bottom sfg's?....they look low to the ground and anything but a perfect landing at my field would probably damage them...my field has alots of bumps

Basically make a a plug out of it...... Neo |
RE: Showtime
Nice video! Not to get off topic, but how long did it take you all to download the video? It took me about 2 minutes.
|
RE: Showtime
That is pretty good.
I got the same speeds, I averaged 305 kbps. Speeds could vary due to traffic loads and such. 2 minutes for a 30 Meg download is really good. John |
RE: Showtime
I've got DSL. It only takes about 10/15 seconds to start playing and loads ahead at the same time.
Awesome video Ynot...THANKS! ;) So Sorry for your mishap Drumbum...[&o] |
RE: Showtime
I switched from my Saito 120 to a YS 110. Central Hobbies finally got them in. I have never had a YS before. It keeps dying on my landing approach. In the air it flies great. I think it even has more power with less weight than the Saito. I am just sick od dead stick landings. Anybody have any advise? High end is set at 1 1/2 turns out and the low end is just a little less.

RE: Showtime
the low end on all my YS motors are still on factory setting
