RE: Showtime
the 645s are 130oz at 6v and they are metal geared just not digital.. the digital 5645s are $10 more a piece and worth it.. im only using the 645s because i allready have them.. if i was buying some i would go 5645 they rate 168oz at 6v and are faster
|
RE: Showtime
drumbum why are you going like 100+oz. over what the 9411s?
|
RE: Showtime
like i said i had them allready but the digitals are killer servos i have used them and like them best
|
RE: Showtime
ohh ok I get it now,

making more progress,, I had to do some mega cowl hacking for the YS-110 and ended up using the header off my 140 to make it fit better without hacking more..

RE: Showtime
:)Drum, it's starting to look like an airplane!!!!! Wow, that really does look nice. I received mine today at noon. I had just enough time to open the box and look inside. It seems to have arrived fine and in good shape. Looks like a great plane. I'll probably start assembling it sometime on Monday as I have family activities planned for the long weekend. I can't wait to get this baby flying. Please let us know as soon as yours hits the air. From the looks of things you aren't far off. I'm still building the Yak but I may have it done tonight. Man, no planes for two months and now I've got two to build,
thanks. Barry |
RE: Showtime
still cant decide if i trust Epoxy alone that is supposed to hold the horn to everything.. no nuts. just epoxy.
|
RE: Showtime
after looking through my manual it dont say anywhere about puting nuts on any of the horn.. says nothing about nuts on ailerons, but on page 13 for the elevator in the discription of what needed it says 2 8/32 flange nuts, but in the pictures and instructions nothing.. but when you get to rudder page 26 if not using a pull pull there is no mention of the nuts but in the picture there is:eek: but here is the problem.. i only recieved nuts for the rudder in a pull pull. no other 8/32 flange nuts were provided.. I think im going to step back and go get some flange nuts and put on all of them. that is the last thing i need
|
RE: Showtime
Curious how the SFG's work. Hope it doesn't fly like a Tensor.
|
RE: Showtime
well i went to the hardware store and got some flanged 8/32 nuts so i can ease my mind..
also one other thing if you are thinking about this plane and are going to skimp on servos. i suggest you look somewhere else... to get mikes recomended 3d rates in the manual ALL surfaces are within Millimeters if banging the trailing edges with a 1 1/4 horn.. im running 645MGs on 6v and am thinking about going for the 5645s allready. you wont hear of anyone going beyond the recommended rates because they are MAXED:D I CANT WAIT with the YS 110 i am almost done. I have balanced it from time to time through the build . the CG has allways been pretty close.. i have not decided wich way i going on rudder yet. i will have to do it very last and then it will just be a matter of moving the battery around for CG (just the way i like em) So far i havent one bad complaint other than the 8/32 nut deal i explaned before |
RE: Showtime
A freind of mine put his showtime in the air today, it has a YS 120 in it. This bird is a awsome flyer,it will do anything in the book.:D It flies better then the 90 funtana by a longshot.

C'mon, it's killing me - I need to make my mind up soon!! [sm=biggrin.gif] |
RE: Showtime
I am almost done all thats left is putting rudder servo in.. looks like its going to have to be in the tail.. that will give me enough that the battry can just be moved around to get CG
|
RE: Showtime
I noticed one other interesting thing.. if I were going to do a pull pul. they didnt give me enough ball links. insted they gave an extra swivel.. the new guy must have did hardware packaging:D

RE: Showtime
How would an OS 91FX with stock muffler fit. Would the muffler clear the bottom of the fuse or would a tunnel need to be built? Anynone have a two-stroke with stock muffler installed in one? Any pics? Thanks.
|
RE: Showtime
I havent weighed mine yet but i dont think a 91 fx will be enough to 3d it
|
RE: Showtime
I'm doing one with the OS 91 and a tunnel does have to be made for the muffler I put it so the muffler goes down the bottom centerline of the fuse, I have used the OS 91 and and the Saito 100 in same planes with the same proformance but I'll see Monday, maybe earlier how it does I'm not much on 3D but I think it will be marginal with 16X4w apc.
|
RE: Showtime
Thanks for the info Steve. I will do no 3D with mine (not intentionally anyway). I want it for pattern flying. I had the 91FX in a CA Models Epsilon (7lb 6oz) and it had plenty of pull with an APC 14x8 prop. The Showtime will likely end up several ounces heavier and I was wondering about engine fit and performance.
|
RE: Showtime
Well, we have been flying ours for the last 3 days. The first 2 days we had engine problems, but today every thing when find. The engine proformed great and the plane is a get flyer. It is very stable, fly's just like a pattern plane. It harriers like it was on a rail and harrier landings are easy and straight forward. Knife edge flight is straight and uniform and knife edge loops are easy too. Rolling circiles are hard to do then with the Extra 260. We haven't found it to have any bad habits.

RE: Showtime
i just got back in from the maiden on mine.(I did the test flight without the SFGs) I had to trim some up elevator and left aileron. after that i did some vertical pulls. rolling one way and the the other on the upline is clean and straight i had to correct just slightly after 6th or 7th. KE is effortless and i had no coupling at all. then i swithced to high rates and WOW. she has the blinding roll rate i suspected and some. rolling harriers were effortless but i couldnt get the nose as high as i like after all it was only the first flight and was still getting used to how fast the YS responds since i went to the header pipe.BTW the 110 will pull it vertical out of sight with a 17x4W. aslo as suspeced it did great KE spins and with a little throttle they were so fast it was a blurr. i tied a waterfall once and it did 3 no problem unitll i hit the wrong rudder and made it fall to the side into a KE spin. i tried hovering also. it will hover with minimal rudder corrections but i was still having to deal with my motors new senitiveness to trottle inputs it was hard for me to keep the sweet spot it wanted to climb on me. snap rolls were classic. at this point in the flight i picked up a bad vibration and thought my motor mount was coming loose so i landed. it is a typcal where ever you point it it will go plane. it was by no means floaty on landing but will slow way down without tip stalling. lands to me alot like my goldberg ultimate.
turn out my vibration was the canopy had lost 3 of the 4 bolts holding it on and i also lost 1 cowl bolt.. i am going to try putting a little piece of fuel tubing on them and see if that will keep them from backing out. that was the only flight i made but i can tell with a little dialing here and there she will be exactly what i was looking for. I also am going to fly it a couple of times with the header on it. i might decide to put the muffler back on. Next ill try the SFGs:D |
RE: Showtime
How about a finished weight?
Just opened up mine. Very impressive work, however heavier then I was expecting. I don't know where I got it in my mind, but my thinking in weight was 7 to 7-1/2, looking at the front of the instruction book, it says 8-9 so my thinking may be 9.5 almost 10 with HD gear. I must have missed the removable stab, thats a nice touch. Hmmmm...................................I got a OS 160 sitting here, |
