I balanced mine upright, at 7 3/4", it flies great. I will be moving my CG back a little at a time, to make it more neutral.

I'll balance check mine tonight. On the advice of another RCU'er with this same plane/powerplant combo (OS 1.08), I put my rudder servo in the tail.

It seems awful tail heavy...[:o] But the canopy glue will be dry tonight, and everything but the battery is in place and secured.

I wonder if I can keep my fingers crossed all day???;)

Well I got a new fueslage in, should be a fast rebuilt, the tail feathers came off easy and so did the wing tube and wings.
This time I will put a YS110 FZ in it; try to keep the weight and still have the proper placing for the fuel tank on the CG.

The current fueslage is easily repaired, I may just do that and have it as a spare:D

What servo's is everyone using? I checked out the recomended servo's, but at $100 a pop, I can't afford to spend 600 on the servo's. Any suggestions?

I am starting to tell everyone I know about the new JR SPORT 125MG's. They have 125 oz. of torque with metal gears for $34.00 each, how can you go wrong? I am a Futaba guy but Futaba can't come close to those prices, a 9402 is $79.00 for 111 oz. with metal gears.

I had some 125's and had problems with them on a 6 volt system. They wanted to twitch for no reason.

I had that same problem on 6 volts. I sent them back and just got the replacements last week and they seem fine. I went and bought 6 more and tested them and all of those seemed fine.

If they work then for the price and 150 ounces on 6 volts you really cannot go wrong. I've replaced all my servos on the ailerons on my GP Ultimate (4 of them) then all but the rudder on my Showtime.

All are on Li-ION regulated to 6 volts

One wonders... how precise can they be for $34?????

Of course, there is the other side of that coin; are we REALLY getting more precision in the big-buck servos, or just payting extra for the same circuitry? I have satisfied myself that Futaba's cheap digital "sport" servos are exactly that; IOW, they work, but get sloppy pretty quick, and, even when new, cannot approach the 9252 in centering.

But I also remember when The Empire was selling 9252s for $140 each. Gray market sales ($75 each, with no US warranty) eventually forced the domestic prices down to where they are today.

Again... one wonders...[sm=tired.gif]

Hello guys. I hate to kick a dead horse but in regards to the snapping issue, if the SFG's are not used, the plane does not have this problem? I wanted to order one but all the talk about these planes doing back flops in the dirt has me second guessing myself. thanks DAVE

I use the SFG's on mine and have not had the snaping issue.

I was thinking the same thing and now have 4 very hard flights on the 4 in the Ultimate and so far so good. I know 4 flights does not show much. I have not had the time to toss the ST into the air to test those but I worked 'em for 20 minutes on the bench after I installed them and again, so far so good.

On my first one I did not have the snap problem, but I planted mine and at first I thought it was the dead spot issue I had heard about but after some conversations here with more experienced people with "pattern " type planes I changed my conclusion to the dreaded Dumb Thumb syndrome.

Otherwise it flies very well. My first was started life with a YS110 but the engine needed to go back to YS so I installed an OS108 and flew it about a dozen flights. My second one has the rebuilt YS in it but I have not had the chance to fly it yet.

I think allot of the snapping issues tend to be the stabs being loose on hte tubes. On both of mine I had/have glued them to the tubes and fuselage.

As far as the SFG's I had no problems at all with mine. 10 of the 12 flights were with them on and they do definitely stabilize the plane

Thanks hope your right . I'm not that great at the whole 3d thing yet. I only get a short time to practice here in VT. I want to get something that kicks but and not spend my whole two weeks of sumer tweeking Gota pack those good day's in around here.
it's hard to hover with ice on the wings.

My suggestion is to get confortable flying on low rates and high rates before trying 3D...I noticed that my ST flew better (was more responsive) which helps in getting out of trouble on high rates.

Thanks for the servo suggestions, I run Jr anyway, so I'll check them out.

all i need to do is get a battery for it
here's what i have in it...

i have a magnum 120 4 stroke on it, i have not run it yet and i might do it in march
i have 5 Hitec HS-5955TG servos for all the surfaces execpt the trottle
for it a have a futaba standed servo
i'm going to use a lipoly unsted of the5cell 2000mAh NI-MH
i used all the hard ware that came with it
and i still have only an hour left in it to finish it
i think i have 15 hours in it

and the HS-5955TGs hane 333 ounces of torke on a 6 volt pack

7 1/8" CG is an excellent CG for the Showtime.

Depending on your style of flying a CG around 7 inches for starter.....more aft for 3D.

Well I started building the showtime. Found some extra time. I got all the hinges installed and glued. However, I did have to slot the hinges in the fuse as they were not done. Dont know if they were supposed to or not. Oh well. Next step is installing the servos and the CF pushrods.
I want to make the tail permanant. Whats the best way. Just epoxy the alum rod in the horz. Stab?

I like probond/gorrilla glue, epoxy will work also.

I cut the covering away underneath the stab and then coated the aluminum tube with epoxy, and the root rib on the stab, then I just put it together, clamped it with some sand bags and let it sit overnight. I thought that was alot safer than the way hanger 9 tells you to install them, and it doesn't make it that much harder to transport.
