Ouch!!!!!!!!!!!!

My 2nd ST should be here Tuesday.......I've been having nose bleeds waiting for it to arrive,,,,,this is the best plane I've flown.

Btw, the gear is still usable. Just wick a bit of thin CA, clamp it, and voila. This gear design was definitely way too heavy for the Extra 260, but just perfect for the ST. If the gear had been stronger, it would've ripped the motor box. It's 4 am right now my time, and my ST is RTF again, fully charged. The only thing is I won't get a chance to fly her again at the earliest until this Saturday afternoon, lol.

I love this plane!! Harriers were effortless, as were all slow maneuvers. This thing tumbles with the best of them.

I flew with a Saito 150 and an APC 17x6, with Hitec 6965's all around. I used my 2700 mAh 5 cell for balance, and have it at the rear of the equipment bay, giving me a CG of 7 5/8", it seems a little tail heavy, still. I do get some dive when rolled to inverted, although it is very controllable.

I have to say, this thing flies much better than my Excelleron. My Excelleron came in at 10 lbs., I will check the AUW of the ST the next time I put it together.

I sure hope I have time to go to the field today.

This is the first time I've flown a plane that made me so comfortable I rolled to inverted, on takeoff, and flew the length of the field, before pushing up, all about 10 feet above the ground, and on the 2nd flight.

Did I mention, I love this plane!!!

What kind of RPM are you getting with the 17x6? I have a 16.5 x 5W on my Saito 150 at 9300 RPM on 30% or 9100 RPM on 15%. This is a sweet flying bird isn't it. Makes it hard for me to finish my new Lanier Edge since my ST fulfills my flying needs already :D

I lost mine doing a low hoover when I dumb thumbed it......it went in on its nose and wing. The fuse broke right behind the hatch with no other damage, this is a very strong plane.

I discovered the(IMO) best prop for Sa150 is APC 17X6. I used a tach when a Zinger 17X5 wood prop was on using 30%Magnum fuel, was getting around 9K. When I went to APC 17X6-to my surprise, it turned up to 9.7K. I couldnt believe the readings but its true. The Zingers & other wood props are thicker air foils and have a little more chord-guess thats why a 17X6 runs faster than a 17X5. I did drop the R's back to about 9.4K so it won't lean when hovering.

Hey Josh,

I'm running it at about 9300 max. I can pick up another few hundred but I keep it a little rich.

I was about to go out and fly it again today, but we have around 15 MPH winds with gusts to 20+. I don't feel like fighting the wind instead of enjoying the stick time.

at 10-15 mph, it's still fun. Hovering might be a tad more difficult, but you can still do your KEs, Snaps, Spins and other tumbling maneuver

Has anyone else felt the SFGs in wind make the controls about 10 times more sensitave?

Yep, you're right. I flew in that yesterday. When the gusts were well above 20 today, I didn't feel like going home and emptying out the van and loading up for the field.
Tomorrow I will be more prepared, the plane will be with me.

I noticed that as the wind picked up the plane became more sensitive, and that was with the SFG's on. It was pretty calm during my first flights, without the SFG's, so I didn't have anything to compare it to.

The wind should be around 10 to 15 mph tomorrow, I'll try a comparison.

i pretty much had to leave mine off when it was windy. It made prescision manuvers look cruddy:). but without them it just cut right through the wind. I was just wondering if anyone else had thought that

I'll check that out in the next couple of days. I was having so much fun slamming mine around, I forgot to check how well it flies Pattern. I want to check that out tomorrow or Thursday.

I was always afraid to fly the SFGs in the wind...:eek:

And I Agree with Lee, that it cuts right through the wind without them...[8D]

The other day I flew it, my friend (who just got back from a deployment) was scared that I was going too fast lol :D. He thought that the wings would flutter to death ala Funtana

:)I fly mine both with and without SFGs. I like it both ways. I think the SFGs are mostly for 3D. It makes it KE better (altough it KE great without them, just slower higher alpha with). I can hover easier with them and it will do quite a bit better flat spin with them (pinwheel type for the purests) I flys prettier without them. More scale like and faster. It's easier to land without them and it does fly better in the wind without them.

Mostly I fly without them. I have planes that do better flat spin anyways so I'm about 75% without and 75% with.

yea i have flown mine wide open too with Zero problems... But i remember way back in the thread that people with larger motors like I belive it was (BigBarry) he had a OS 160 FX and i remember something about him experiencing SFG flutter on fast passesbut no aileron flutter

The only recorded aileron flutter was when someone used the non-MG Futaba servos. I need to get longer arms though, because max deflections of my rudder was only 30 degrees with my 1" arm.

A YS110 w/o muffler will give you a good 10,500 RPM on an APC 16x6 ... very nice.

I am looking for a little help and I am hoping someone in here might be able to point me in the right direction. When I am doing a loop with the Showtime the left wing seems to drop out really hard as I am pulling back to level flight. I am wondering if any of you have had that problem with this plane or any other plane for that matter and might know what I can do to correct it. This plane seems to do just about everything extremely well with exception to the easiest stunt in the book. I have no problems doing loops while inverted but consistently have problems right side up. Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for your responses.

too much elevator causing snap?

to do a loop "well" and remain smooth and on axis isn't that easy:D

Lateral balance is right on as is the CG. I have plenty of expo on ailerons and have ruled out the possibility of accidentally moving the stick side to side. If I loop with the elevator on high rates I don't see the problem and I think it just happens on bigger loops when I am on low rates with more speed coming out the bottom. When I go to pull up to level flight the left wing does a violent drop 45 degrees and sends the plane screaming for the ground. I have a reversing y harness on the elevator servos and maybe this could be the problem but I checked it with my digital inidence meter and I have the same up and down throws on each elevator but maybe it reacts differently in flight.
