It’ll never be good enough for speed.

He accuses me of wanting to make up the rules, then posts crap like this.

Sorry speed, there is no “right” amount that qualifies anyone. No dollar amount, no amount of awards or trophies, no amount of years of experience, just an interest, hell, just being a member on this forum is enough……

When was the last time you or Astro flew an airplane? Although you keep bringing your boats into every conversation you can, AMA deals with AERO MODELING. You don’t actively fly nor are you a member of the AMA. It seems your only reason to be in this forum is to make trouble.

As long as being a WANNABE on an Internet forum is good enough for you. Having opinions about something you don’t participate in a bit meaningless to me.

And there you go with your personal judgements and labels. Right on cue!

Go ahead, please qualify your vague statement; WHO are you calling a WANNABE, and just exactly WHAT do they WANNABE? It sounds like everyone here participates in the hobby, whose opinions do you proclaim meaningless because they don’t meet your standards of participation?

I understand now. Anyone that doesn't fly competition doesn't matter.
So let me set the record straight:
  1. People are not their hobbies, they are what they do IN LIFE
  2. To judge someone as IRRELEVANT because they don't think like you MAKES YOU IRRELEVANT since you can't see past your own ideas
  3. For anyone to have an opinion about something they don't actively participate in is their right. To talk about that opinion is also their right, called out in the first amendment of the Constitution. For example, I have very strong opinion of what's going on in the country and in the government right now. Do I need to be a politician to be able and allowed to talk about it? In a word, NO!!!!!!! NO ONE CAN TELL ME I CAN'T TALK ABOUT ANYTHING SINCE FREE SPEECH IS A GUARANTEED RIGHT!!! Therefore, I CAN AND WILL EXERCISE MY RIGHT TO FREE SPEECH AND THERE'S NOT ONE BLOODY THING YOU CAN DO ABOUT IT
  4. You want to see irrelevant, look in the mirror. You fly a toy that is limited to maybe a mile. You want to be relevant, try flying an MQ-9 Reaper where the flight actually matters for something more than a cheap trophy and bragging rights in a community that is irrelevant to anyone other than themselves
  5. I have standing invitations to go to Japan, Australia, New Zealand, England, Denmark, Sweden, and Germany by people in my activities due to my conduct toward people from those countries. I was praised by my superiors while in the military for my ability to be an "ambassador" for the US in interacting with citizens of foreign countries. These countries include Australia, Kenya, South Korea and the Philippines. Can you say any of that? Probably not, meaning you're more irrelevant than I am

You are really something else speed. Talk about broken records…

Your opinion of me or anyone on this forum are only based on how much they will glorify you and your toy airplanes.

You don’t have a clue how much I fly, yet you claim that I don’t? EFF you and your My Little Pony that you rode in here on, you just don’t get to make baseless claims about folks because your ego isn’t being stroked. YOU are the one that can’t act civil here, quit blaming others for your self-aggrandizing weirdness.

Good bye!

Boy you two went right off the deep end didn’t ya.

What I said was to be relevant when discussing a certain topic ( model airplanes in this case ) one should participate in the topic. Both of you chuckleheads have said that you don’t actively participate in flying currently.

Hydro, it has nothing to do with competition. However when one is discussing radio issues with an airplane and you start talking about signal reflection off of water…..we’ll that’s being irrelevant.

So I'm a "chucklehead" now? I'm afraid not. You want to call me something, I'd accept these:
  • an R/C modeler
  • a scale hydroplane builder and racer
  • a productive citizen of this country
  • A VETERAN
You, on the other hand, are a self righteous slacker with nothing to really contribute to the community.
When you start talking about radios and what can affect the signal, EVERYTHING IS RELEVANT. Signals can be:
  • blocked
  • reflected
  • attenuated
  • distorted
Even though it wasn't talked about, people do fly R/C float planes and flying boats so water effects ARE VERY RELEVANT!!!! The fact that you don't fly near water is what is irrelevant. It wouldn't surprise me to read that you can't fly off of water. One of my planes is getting twin floats so that is a skill I will have to master, along with dealing with the drag of the floats

Your words to suit your silly narrative.

I never said I don’t actively participate in flying. Take responsibility for the crap you spew here and quote it. Go on, show us or retract your statements.

Even if I wasn’t actively participating, it doesn’t diminish my relevance in any way. I’ve been modeling for over 40 years, please grace us with your worthless opinion of how stepping back a bit would somehow diminish my experience and become irrelevant? Go on, back up your wurdz……

Your pompous, elitist, good ole boy attitude is exactly what this hobby DOESN’T need.

Astro, I'm thinking Speed needs to move back to California since he will probably fit in better in Gavin Newsom's authoritarian state than he does here in the Pacific Northwest.
In California, pretty much anything goes and proof is irrelevant, just like he is

I told him that he would fit right in with the Oregon vibe when he moved, but he really took exception to that! I told him then that it was his online persona that led me to that conclusion (it’s all I have to go on since I don’t know him personally) and he tried to say that I was wrong. I’ve given him the benefit of the doubt, but his words consistently betray how he would like to be perceived.

As I have stated numerous times before, we are all entitled to speak our minds in this Country, but that doesn’t make our opinions fact. Speed doesn’t seem to be able to comprehend that.

You should just back up your claims or retract them. Pretty simple. If you provide it (you can’t) I’ll gladly acquiesce, but your statement about me was, 1) false, and, 2) completely irrelevant anyway. LOL, another lame attempt by you to deflect from your true colors.

Why do you feel the need to lie to justify your narrative? Why dig your heels in and be obtuse instead of simply providing proof of your statements? It’s what responsible adults do.

Now that is interesting. When did you start running boats Astro?
What I also found amusing was the fact whoever this idiot is used a licensed character name from Warner Brothers and Universal Studios. That could get him sued

You sound like a mature adult……

If you’d tell me specifically what I’ve said that bothers you, maybe we could have a discussion about that?

Otherwise, I suggest you look in the mirror and take your own advice.

Ironically, I’ve built an 1/8 scale (Miller American) to 90% complete, but sold it before I ever ran it, and have kicked myself ever since.

One of my good buddies from Eastern Washington ran scale unlimiteds for awhile (I’m sure you probably know him) until he bought an actual 5 liter boat that he raced and then went on to crew chief for a couple of the unlimited teams. I was over visiting with him this weekend and he kinda got me fired up about hydros again. I am actually considering building another boat, but I’m not up on all of the new classes you guys run.

Are you gonna be at the event this weekend? I’m considering stopping by and checking it out. I’ve got my camper on the truck, is there camping at the event?

So, you’re not tolerant of anyone else’s opinions (only your own, or those who agree with you) and you think your panties and socks smell better than everybody else’s?

Your narcissism rivals that of speedy’s!

Astro
Yes, I'll be there though I don't know if I'm going to run or not. Kind of depends on what happens on Friday when three of us start working on my boat. If we can get some speed out of it, I may run but, if not, I'll just be helping out
NO, the park and county won't let us camp in the lot. There are three options that I know of:
  • There is a campground at Wenberg State Park, a ways out to the west of the race site
  • Tulallip Casino has a parking area behind the casino for RVs
  • Cabela's has a truck and RV parking area on the south(left) side of the store
As far as classes go, we run six
  • 1/10 scale electric
  • 1/8 scale electric
  • 1/8 scale nitro
  • 1/7 scale electric
  • 1/6.7 scale gas
  • gas thunderboat
The three electric classes vary by hull size and drive train restrictions
1/8 nitro is limited to an 11cc/.67 engine with direct drive. Both 1/8 scale classes are built to 1.5"/foot plus a variance on the basic sizes
Gas scale in limited to no more than 31cc engines and is built to 1.8"/foot plus a variance
Gas thunderboats are basically round nosed boats that are similar in size to the gas scales and limited to one size engine, a 25.6cc IIRC
