I think you said it all, Great job! I for one will always yield for a manned aircraft if I have to put my unmanned into the ground, flesh will win over monocote everytime! And I rather have balsa then bones break! Or kill a engine over killing life anytime! My Spitfire does not have a family that would miss it like the pilots family in a manned aircraft would! Therefore its human over hobby for this ground pilot! Bob
Have a great day! I know i'm going too!

The OP said it was a county park. Around here the county park rangers are not armed. It is also almost inconceivable that a county park would be one of the protected wildlife areas that has been mentioned. Also, I am not 1005 certain, but I think "Glacier Girl" is not a female, but that his screen name refers to the famous P-38 of the same name that was excavated from under the ice on Greenland.

No real bearing on the situation, but sort of interesting.

I just had to laugh at that, I only watch the first 10 minutes and the last 10 minutes because they all drive like they just got their liscences at the local DMV and were handed 700 HP go-karts!
I'm not picking on ya, but all I remember about nascar is it's alot of paint swapping going on in 250-500 laps. Now SCCA, those guys have alot to lose, most only own 1 car and can't afford a mishap.
but a NASCAR driver is also used to driving inch's from each others bumper, but look how often professional NASCAR drivers rear end each other.

How bout this. If you see any manned aircraft operating in an unsafe manor....get the N# and report them to the FAA. Problem solved. If there are enough reports of a particular pilot operating in an unsafe manor, they will be grounded. Remember it's up to us, the public to police the populated area. There are no FAA officials sitting around neighborhoods, parks etc. looking for violators.
I understand what RV7 was saying. It appears that "He" feels safe. That, I don't think was the point. Would the average person you pull off the street be OK with a helicopter flying 75' or so off the ground....but I believe all the above has been addressed
can we find another topic to have differing opinions on?
Who's right or wrong? I'm right, get used to it.

In reference to the heli incidents here in DFW back in the 1990s, we were told by the local FAA that the news/traffic heli in question was only cleared to fly at very low alttitudes directly over the roadway and associated right of way (shoulders, access roads, etc.)
With the low flying incident at the jr college, the heli was 200-300 yards to one side of the edge of the road right of way.

I agree, most drivers, well, let me rephrase that, most professional drivers are very talented drivers, but there are alot of drivers that get caught up in points, sponsorship or just to spite another, just like the heli pilot may have done. So I'm not suggesting that all nascar drivers are idiotic drivers, but I see more incidents in the first and last ten minutes of any nascar race due to pushing the limit and human error. I've seen formula one drivers launch right over eachother in an attempt to pass in an unpassable moment, they're not perfect, but they do have millions of dollars backing them, just like nascar. SCCA, not so, those guys may,...may have 1/2 million if lucky to get it right for a season and win. But they all get caughtup in the same feeling the indy, formula, nascar and drag racers seem to fall victom to, second place is the first loser syndrome, so they all do it no matter how much money is behind them. I't only human to feel competitive and wronged at times, just like the person who started this post. But if I might add to my earlier post, I know of some towns in my state where it is illegal to fly anything R/C in a park or school yard, no matter what it's powered or not by, gliders included. Why, because a small incident arose and the local town ordinences said ban it, no questions asked. So why push and shove, in the end, your only going to get a whole lot of people burned by playing with fire. Be responsible and never challange full scale, you will lose your model, and you will lose everything you ever worked to earn. Involintary manslaughter is aa nasty thing to try and explain.

Somehow we've leaped from no recorded collisions ever [since the dawn of time] to involuntary manslaughter in the same thread.
Well done.
I expect either Goober Pile or Barney Fife to come lurching into Floyd's barbershop here with more disturbing news at any minute.........

Have you forgotten the guy who hit the Goodyear blimp?? Sure it was on purpose, but still, a recorded collision!! [:@]
Seems to me that the blimp should have seen the model airplane and yielded the right-of-way!!! I think modelers everywhere should boycott Goodyear tires!!!

.......funny thing is that I've been alone in my thoughts a couple of times at the Marysville Washington RC field, just flying away and drilling holes in the sky and had the Goodyear Blimp appear right out of nowhere [X(]! It was probably on it's way to cover a Seahawks game back when they were good.

Gotta watch them blimps. They can sneak up on you and fly way too low to be safe. Maybe they should be required to have the big moving sign say "Watch Out model airplane pilots, here I come!!!"

Thanks Larry,
I will follow yours and Darwins posts because these are the one's putting life over hobby, And that is my goal! I love flying, building, tuning the engines just about everything there is about this hobby, And I know if one of these models brings down a manned aircraft and we know its posible birds are doing it! Then its all of us in this hobby that will suffer! Read the rules again thank you for the post! Bob
Have a great day! I know i'm going too!

Yep, right after the first model brings down a full scale plane, there will be Federal Agents staked out [[8D]] at every model flying field, ready to slap the cuffs on every AMA member who dares to fly.
At least that's what Goober just told me.

Read the rules again thank you for the post!
is that what we are calling the FAA regs that tell the heli where it can & cant fly?
What this thread really needs is a fresh view on things....
we need someone to post that they think models should yield to other aircraft.
Wouldnt that be a nice change of pace.

Maybe Howard Sprague could clear this up.

Hey PIG I have to apologize to you, I thought to myself what a complete idiot for not knowing a RC plane could take down a manned aircraft when a couple pound bird can! Then it hit me we are both right, I was thinking in terms of the 30 40 pound planes some of the guys fly at our club and then there is Mac Hodges 21 foot B-29 and even some of my planes, You know the kind that men like to fly! I was not thinking of the planes in your hangar, foresure you could not get that number 64 rubberband to wind tight enough to be a threat to a manned aircraft! So you see we are both right we both just have to agree to disagree, Again my apoligy!
P.S. Say hello to Barney for us!
