Hey I had the same thing happen to my wheels.
2 sets of good rubber tires now.
The first time it happened I thought it was just bad rubber.
The second set was 3 1/2 DuBro and they did it also.
I had a ground loop and now think this is what did it.
The tires are dead center but must be rolling over.
I think I need to cut out some of the wheel pants.

The tires are no longer an issue. I zigged when I should have zagged.

What happen?? I feel for you, one thing about this hobby. You will lose a plane I don't care how good of a pilot you are. It happens to all of us.
Sorry for your lost. You have to build another one. This is too good of a plane not to have in your hanger.

I wish I could give an accurate description of what caused it. It happened so fast. I was just doing touch and goes with it. There was very little wind. I turned on to base and it just rolled on over and went in, fast. I had plenty of air speed. It was NOT stalled. I'm still in the process of inspecting the plane. One thing I noticed, the rudder servo is stripped out and before I flew I noticed that when I switched the rudder servo to high rates on the ground, it would nove the extra distance somewhat jerky. I had Futaba 9001 in it. I know that I've always heard not to use nylon geared servos on a gasser but it's what they suggested in the manual.

If you'll recall I posted about the tires wearing out and I had been flying it on Saturday and it was real windy. I was slipping it in. Maybe the rudder servo was damaged.

If I put another one together, you can bet it'll have metal geared servos.

Something I noticed while inspecting the wreckage, the firewall does not have much hot glue on it. You guys using DLE 30's may want to consider re-enforcing the firewall. Although mine did not fail and cause the crash.

I enjoyed this plane so much, I've ordered a replacement.

Oh yeah, it'll go together fast. I think I'm gonna go with Hitec 755Mg all the way around, throttle and all. The rx seems fine but I'm skeptical about it. I had the 14 channel one in there. I guess I need to send it in and get it checked out.

Hill, I agree with you on getting your reciever checked out. Its good insurance since you don't reall know what caused the crash.

I'm at a loss as to what servos to use. The 755mg are larger than the standard size servo. What are you guys using for servos, particularly the people running gas engines?

Hitec 645 MG. Used them for years and never had a problem. Have bought a bunch on ebay at great prices, new out of the box.

Skillet, what servos did you use?
Hill I used 625's in the wings, and 645's for the rudder and elevator. I also used a jr821 for throttle i have found out that digitals give you better control of the arm on gas carbs because of the nonlinier response. I would get another one also because they are so nice looking.

No problem at all. I have them in my Top-Flite GS P-40, P-47, B-25, Aeroworks Cessna 195, Wild Hare Hellcat and Great Planes Waco.

Planning on a DLE 20 for my Waco. I've used 645's in my Aeroworks with DLE 20 and have had no problems. (people will flame me for the following practice but...) I use a single battery A123 2600 mah to power both ignition and everything else. Have had zero problems, and the drain is minimal. I plan on using 645's in the Waco too, cept the throttle.

Thanks guys. I think I'll go with the 645's also. The good thing about putting it together a second time is things like engine spacers, cowl centering tool, the handle thing, servo hatches and some push rods are together and ready.

My LHS just closed down. So, running down for extension cables etc, will be inconvenient. I might have to order them and would hate to be in the midst of a build and find out that my wires are 1/2" short. Any advice would be helpful and a list of parts would be greatly appreciated (unless it's already been listed )

I used the size extensions that the manual suggested and they worked fine. I would also consider different tires.
