Well, it sure looks like a challenge! Would hate to see it rekitted but to say the least you must get it on video. Just remember she's a little bit heavier and will require a bit more speed on landing.
Best of luck buddy.

Hey guys. I just was given a CMP Gee Bee (120). I understand thats the same size as the GP. The Gee Bee I have went through a little landing "mishap". Needs some fiberglass work, etc. The reason I'm here; it needs wheel pants. Both were totaled. I know I can buy the GP pants, but at $60, well, I just can't swing it right now. Anyone know where I can find some that are the right size, and the right price? Thanks in advance for any help.

Frankbma just so you know the CMP version flies really well , like a big trainer . Greased in landings take a bit of practise but they can be done

Well it's a great flyer I'll say that much ....Anybody who's
interested don't worry about the handling , its just a little bouncy on the landing .
If you can still get robarts that's the way to go .

A buddy of mine flew two of them last week, a test flight on a stock GP GeeBee, and he also has one he modified and painted to look more like the black and gold Z model.. It was flight 2 for the Z version... Both flew pretty well and he kept them both on the gear ..no nose overs.
both planes have a 24cc gasoline engine I believe.

I am going to finish mine I started on 2009 *LOL* I had a 120 FS III with pump in it
and sold the engine last year. So I am going to put the Thunder Tiger 130 in it. Seems
to fit a lot nicer then the 120 did. the muffler is in the right spot like they made it for
the GeeBee. Adding Carbon Fiber Push Rods as well. Just tore out the wood ones.
I also have made the Robart Struts too !

I have been working on mine slowly too. I am instaling DLE 20 on, mine orderd the servos and instaled them. Its been a slow build as well with me on this one, the Gee bee r2 from hobbby king I belive you guys are talking about looks promissing last time I looked at it, since great planes doesnt make this one any more, case this doesent work out too well. Ill will try and post some pics of what I got going with mine if folks are interested. rowdog_14 you still flying yours ?

It will be great to see some pictures. I never get tired of seeing a Gee Bee.
As far as flying my Gee Bee. That is a Yes and No. Yes I still fly it and Yes I want to fly it but No since I moved I have not flown but I should start back next year once I join a club here in GA.
The last time I flew it was around June of 2010.

Some of my problem here in Iowa is the long long winters and then when the weather is OK the WIND comes in to play.
I flew almost everyday when I lived in calif... got my new engine almost installed and re-ordered 6 more digital servos
for her. guess I now have all winter to finish this
I am also dumping all the wood push-rods and switching them over
to carbon-fiber rods as well.

That good that will make it a little lighter but if you wanted to save money I would just stick with the wood dowels. I have over 30+ flights on mine and they work fine. As far as building, since you have all winter I would make sure that the balance is right on. That makes a big difference, and make sure the wing dihedral is what the manual says (5 3/4 -6 1/4), I think i set mine to 6". Other than that bring it in with some speed!

rowdog, yeah, I just noticed that the wood dowels in mine seemed to flex to much. but I do have time and
the materials
already to make them. from reading all these posts over the years seems like you
have to get the specs just right. how do you adjust the dihedral tho- With washers?
