Hi Guys,

Saito 100 just arrived, rest of the gear should be here Monday so I can get started!! Sorry Dave I'm not the engineering type, so can't help you with your equations. Joe and Roger seem to be the guys for those things. Sometimes there is just no substitute for the years one spends in the hobby or with background related work. That's one of the reasons why I tried to get Joe to volunteer to drill that plate for me!! Shipping that thing to Pennsylvania would probably only cost me a stamp or two. Dave, you can advise me on one thing though. I picked up that Sullivan tail wheel bracket today. Is there sufficient material under the fusalage to mount the assembly with wood screws?? I am not sure that I will use it though as Joe and Roger think it is unnecessary and I can always get a credit for my $7.00. Have a good weekend friends and those of you that get a chance to fly "Keep the wheels on the right side".

Stoney, I would be more than happy to drill them for you. Just wasn't sure if you were serious. PM me for shipping details. Joe

Stony..
From what i've read ,some guys are " laying in" a piece of thin ply for that tailwheel brkt to sit on..it didnt seem necessary to me, i put the four pilot holes through ,put a couple of drops of CA in each, then, when dry, fixed the assy on...solid as a rock..if it starts to look" iffy" after a bit of use then the ply option is available...Dave.

Lord, I did a cad drawing of how it should be, but I can't seem to export it to the proper format required by RCUs server. It should be like this. Joe

l Center line
l
angle \ l
\ l
\ l
\ l
\ l
\l
\
l
Guess that didn't work.

Rajul, where ya been, laying low or busy flying? My spinner was way off. Surprised in this was the first time I checked one. Thought they were supposed to be good to go from the manufacturer. Joe

Hiya Joe ! Well, all I can say is the economy is pickin' up......

When I spin the TT spinner on my TF balancer and look at it closely, I found that there's no wobbling in the backplate and tip of the spinner, but there's a little in the middle of the cone. It seems like the cone is not truly symmetrical. Could be some minor warpage as a result of residual or machining stress in the metal.

Mike, Amen to that. I thought I was going to close for a while there. Busy now, in fact I had to pass up an invite this morning to fly. Charging now and I'll see if there are any stragglers at the field.

Coo, we're doing our best to keep ourselves entertained. And we're going thread to thread like ants for information. Joe

hi fellas.

saw my first u-cando fly today .All i can say is awesome.Got to get started on mine .He had a 91fs in his and it flew great considering the gusty winds at field today. He mentioned it drifted left and i asked him him if he had any right thrust in engine. He didn't so i mentioned this thread to him and the 3 degree right thrust.
His left wing kept dropping from time to time .i mentioned to him that maybe the wing needed balanced laterally.Has anyone else experience this situation?I plan on starting mine next week and thanks to all the posts ,I will definitely make a few mods .Thanks

ken

Hey guys and welcome to the thread, coomarlin............Man Joe, you are twisted. I did a double take myself. LOL

No flying today. Went to a swap meet and didn't see anything I wanted. Had fun with some of the guys from our field, but wish now I had gone flying . it was a perfect day for it. Ended up going to the lake to visit some friends and spent some time on the water. Summer has arrived.

Ken, I haven't had any problems with lateral balance. Guess I was lucky with the set-up. Tried to keep things as centered as possible.

rajul - hey and welcome back. I used radio South CA hinges on this bird and added to extra on the ailerons. Also sealed all movable surfaces except the rudder. So far so good.

I used washers to get the desired 3 degrees of right thrust, but if I did it again I'd just use the ernst thrust plates. At the time of assembly I didn't know they existed. Anyway, I haven't had any problems with lateral drift or wing dropping. My plane it balanced pretty well.

I flew mine yesterday after moving the tank back to it's stock location. I didn't like it as well. I didn't measure the CG, but I know it's not at 6.25 any more. I may look into getting a better tank and putting it back near CG.

How many washers does it take to get the right angle for the engine mount?
Thanks Brian
