Hello Everybody, After watching a guy lose a really large Edge 540 (battery failure is the word), the Twist now has receiver battery
backup. You can never be too careful or too crazy. How many ma. are your servos eating?
Remember, its supposed to be FUN

I checked it before flight with a little meter, but it wasn't under a load. Well, I got about 20 minutes of flight on it when all controls locked into a sharp left turn which then turned into a full throttle spiraling dive to the hard ground below. [X(].....[:@]......[
].......[&o]The sad thing for me was that my brother let me borrow the plane to learn with. He hadn't gotten up the nerve yet to fly it solo. I'm sure glad he was understanding.

Hard lesson learned!

Fyrwalker, the Magnum .70 would be great! I think I remember the Magnum .80 being an "older generation" Magnum model....without the improvements of the newer, reworked ones. (.70, .91, etc) I also think that the .80 is considerably heavier.
I've read here under other posts that people seem to prefer the .70 and it has great power.

I saw a Pizzaz with a .91 Saito. It took off in about 2 feet. Most of the time the guy flying it would be running at about 1/2 throttle. He was wringing it out one morning and I left to go get a cold drink at the 7-11. Gone 10 min. and when I came back, the tail was sticking out of a trash can. I think the .91 Magnum would work fine on the Twist. Run it back close to the firewall, and maybe not have to add tail weight. FYRWALKER, how about some pics if you do the .91?

The Saito 80 I now have in my Twist I had in my Pizzaz. It was very nose heavy and i had weight on the tail for balance, but flew it quite well. Plenty of power for sure. I stalled it in on a dead stick landing and put it in. Did some pretty good damage.
the wing broke clean from the fuse so I made the wing a bolt on, but it isn't so you can transport it without the wing. I also cut the fuse for the bottom of the wing and attached it to the fuse bottom cover, so it is one big hatch. I move the landing gear forward off the wing to the edge of the fuse before this new hatch. The old landing gear screws on the bottom cover now hold that big hatch on the fuse.
I moved the charging switch above the wing. So by making it a bolt on I can take the wing out and get to it. I also went to two servos on the elevator and moved the elevator servos to the tail like the Twist. Also changed the rudder to a pull-pull setup. Cut the wing sheeting in front of the servo tray and mounted the throttle servo in that space. The only servo in the tray is for the rudder. This now gives me enough room in the fuel tank compartment for a 13oz tank the receiver and battery. The Saito 80 in the nose it should balance out just fine. Which means I will have to put my new YS63 in the Twist. problems, problems, problems.... but not a bad problem to have.

hey FRYWALKER,
I've got a new magnum .91 in my twist. i flew it with the .91 for the first time today, but only flew one flight. it was getting to dark to see tha plane, i just had to take it up once this evening while i had a chance, and it was awesome. i just hope it will be good enough weather this weekend to burn a lot of gas. i mounted magnum sideways so the muffler would be pointing under the plane to keep it cleaner. the engine is also to wide to fit in the slot. i also mounted a mini servo right in front of the wing so it would be closer to the carb. to counter the extra weight up front i moved the battery and the reciever back behind the wing. it put the cg at about 4 1/2''. i blocked up the landing gear about an inch to acount for the larger prop. i'm using a 13x8 master airscrew and it clears fine, i'm prolly going to block it up an other inch just to be safe, or see if we have an other landing gear to give me more clearence. i've already cracked the twist in half twice so i was happy to see it not fall apart when it got in the air. i'll try to post some pics early next week, hopefully by then i won't be show'en yall pictures of a cracked up twist.

I flew 3 tanks out of mine yesterday in the field beside my house. There's not much room to make a landing and sometimes I have to make a go-around run because I mess it up. Well I had TWO dead sticks during that last flight. I had monkey'd with the needle valve trying to get it not to bog down when I was doing flat spins and I guess I lost the "sweet spot". I have to say I couldn't have made those dead stick landings any better!!! I was pretty high when it died each time and I had lots of time to shoot an approach luckily.
I finally got it to do an inverted flat spin a couple times! I started by climbing really high and rolling inverted while still in a 45 degree angle and killed the throttle. When it dropped I put the right stick in the top left and the left stick in the bottom right....let it spin a couple times and then started adding throttle and opposite aileron kinda quickly (much quicker than when I do an upright flat spin) and it just popped into a flat inverted spin! I could only get this to happen twice out of about 5 attempts though.
Hopefully I will get to try some more today!!!

I HAD TO CUT OFF THE RIGHT CHEEK, BUT WITH THE LEFT CHEEK STILL ON I HAVE TO GET A SMALL MIRROR AND A FLASHLIGHT TO SEE INTO THE CARB BARREL. I'LL GO TAKE SOME PICS AND TRY TO HAVE THEM UP IN A COUPLE OF HOURS.

It looks like it will work fine. The 50SX weighs about the same as the 46FX and as posted in this thread, mount it at the end of the rails, then use battery placement to balance it. The Sullivan tail wheel assembly is a nice touch.

Thank You TimC for your your compliments! I have a cold, so it took me a couple of days, but it really pays off, just finishing the last linkage of the plane, then I need some APC 12.25x3.75 props. Thanks!
