Just to let you all know that the customer support at Giantscaleplanes.com is the best I've ever dealt with. (I've been flying since I was six years old and I am thirty now so I've been flying for about 24 years. ) I say this because being from Guam-way out in the Pacific-it's hard to get big planes out here. I just ordered the Katana 140 from them and they did everything they could to get it to me. I've checked with numerous other companies and none of them would work with me to get it here. Please understand that shipping to Guam from the United States via UPS, FedEx, or DHL is extremely expensive. We are considered "international" for these shipping companies. The only real way to get any planes out here is via USPS priority mail. No other company would "break the boxes down" and ship the planes in separate boxes (ie. fuse in one box, wings and accesories in another box). Giantscaleplanes did it for me! The shipper, Leon, found a way and I know it wasn't easy. My thanks and gratitude to the staff of Giantscaleplanes.com and especially to Leon for the exceptional customer service!!! I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!

Hi,
Just watch out for the shipping charges to make sure that you are not overcharged. Look at my thread "Overcharged shipping charges from GSP".

Listen, I am not payed by then. I stated a fact. None of you have to go through the hassles of shipping like anyone over seas. If you were over charged then that is your fault for not verifying the shipping. To get the katana to Guam via UPS was almost $400. I made sure to verify first. I made this statement because no other company would take the plane out of the original box and repack it for me to get it to me. I would have to send the over sized box to relatives and have them repack it for me and send it via USPO. Almost all of you have the luxury of UPS, FedEx, DHL, Greyhound. Us out here don't have that luxury. So we deal with what we have and can get. I guess thats the price to pay fore having beautiful flying weather year round with a temp of around the mid 80s.

I understand your problem, Duayne. I was stationed overseas several times. And I apologize for making that remark; it was not intended as a shot at you.
As noted above, this outfit has a long history of all sorts of nefarious behavior; up to, and including, "ghost posting". The fact that you're new here and posted in the wake of a serious GSP/HHI bashing thread raised a few eyebrows, is all.
Which, come to think of it, also raises the question of why, in light of the overwhelming evidence presented by forum users of this firm's questionable ethics, do their ads still show up here????

Duanyne,
I am the person who started the post "overcharged shipping charges from GSP" a month back and I was surprised to find that the post got much more responses than I expected. If you read the threads, you will find that there is a common theme. It is " overcharged shipping feeâ€. To make the matter worse, their ad implies that they do everything they can to MINIMIZE the shipping costs to the buyers. But in reality, if you take the total shipping cost minus ACTUAL cost to ship, you will end up with a hefty charge. When I inquired to GSP, I was told that I must take into account the “handling charge†as well. Now, that is fine with me but it MUST be reasonable and must be STATED on the ordering page! I was charged 20.00 for “handling fee†in addition to shipping charges for a small box ( a 40 size ARF) , a totally unreasonable fee by any standards!!! It is obvious that they are making extra profit by adding these charges to the package. Their ad appears like they are doing everything they can to minimize the cost of shipping to you but in reality, it is nothing more than a bait for you to take and get hook. I did and many others.
Now, it is great that they would make the efforts to get the plane to you, but if they hit me with a hefty, outrageous “handling†charge , then does the price you pay worth the “special effort†on their part? Not for me, I would say. I just want you and future potential customers of GSP to be aware of their shipping policy. CHECK your credit card statement and verify with the actual shipping cost and REFUSE to pay anything that is out of line. I raised hell over the phone and they did credit me back until the handling fee (hidden charge) is barely acceptable. I still had to pay 10.00 handling fee for such a small box.

Sorry to here that. If they charged me a handling fee of $20 then to me it would be OK. Let me clarify this. Like I stated, they had to make 3 boxes to fit everything for me. And they charged me $70 for shipping. It comes out about right. As for everyone else living in the mainland (continental U.S.A.) then that would be outrageous. I understand where you are coming from. Because they wouldn't have to make new boxes. They could ship it in the box it came in. Sorry to here of you predicament. On another note. Are you Vietnamese? Just asking. My mothers maiden name is Phan. Just visited Vietnam in the summer and there are two hobby shops in Ho Chi Min city( Saigon). They have a lot of ARFS they sell that are really cheap (by our standards) about $100 U.S. for a 60 Cessna and 60 what looked like a Patriot. Just to let you know.

Duayne,
I am glad that GSP only charges you 70.00 to ship to Guam. It may appear like the threads about them have helped. Yes, I am from Vietnam and it is nice to meet another fellow RCer on the RC Universe.

Hi Dai,
Well my father is sending my 10yr old son a GSP yak54 for Christmas. Lets see what the shipping will be on that one. I just hope they learned their lesson. Taking advantage of people isn't right. For instance, I won a seaplane on ebay in Nov. and the payed for it on Nov 28. Just got an email from the guys at the NILBEE store that the plane wasn't even sent. They stated fixed shipping at $35. Well pay it. Now they say another $10 for handling fees. Listen, I know most people know when is says fixed shipping and shipping will be determined later the difference. This time nothing had to be done with the plane. It wasn't to big to send USPO so their was no boxes to be made. Don't know! Anyway, well I know how you probably felt. Sorry just venting.

Duayne,
Please make sure to CHECK your credit card statement and verify with the shipping label to make sure that you are not overcharged. Remember that many companies would "tag" along the "handling fee" to make some extra profit. You see, some companies would post the price of their models as low as possible then make up for it from the "handling fee". It is a very common practice but GSP has gone a little much overboard. That is why you see so many unhappy people who bought from them. Look at my thread and you will see that there are other places beside GSP that you can order from. The models carried by GSP are made in China ( China Model Productions). There are many companies in USA and around the world that carry them. They are called ESM in some Europian countries, Duraworks in Malaysia, Flair in UK and others... Dai

I posted this yesterday on the GSP Katana buildup thread... thought it applied in this case!
Guys, you need to be aware of something. I contacted GiantScalePlanes inquring about this plane because they advertised on RCU that they have the "improved" version of the Katana in stock. Well I called earlier in the month and was told in no uncertain terms that "Yes, this is the new plane with the new, correct wings." So I bit and placed an order. Well, I received the kit, start fooling around with the hatch mod but recalled a post on this thread about the aluminum wing tube being 24 inches long. I checked mine and guess what??? It's the SHORT tube! I peer down into the wing and there it is...the OLD wing!!! I contacted GSP and after arguing with them on the phone got them agree to send new wings which are supposedly en route from port. I wait another 2 weeks with no response so I call back. They slipped and told me they DO have the new version in stock but "mistakenly" sent me an older version! I inquired why a kit swap wasn't done right away and the response was that "shipping would be outrageous"... Too bad for me, eh? Well, I'm already working on the fuse installing servos so I agreed to have them credit my card back $30 for my troubles doing the mods discussed earlier in this thread. I'm checking my account today and there's no $30 credit...in fact, they wrongly placed ANOTHER charge on my card for $179!!!!! I get Irwin the owner on the phone and he essentially throws his hands in the air and tells me that it's a problem with MY bank and to deal with them!!!! And of course, my bank tells me that this guy did in fact charge my card a second time and NO, there never was a $30 credit issued to the card either...
I don't think I've EVER had a more negative experience with a vendor in my life!!!!!
You have been warned.....Caveat Emptor!!!!!!!

All you have to do is call your credit card company and the $179 charge will be removed. I appreciate the heads up, I've heard other things about them on RCU. Sounds like they aren't good for their word. That's the worst rule to break in doing business. Also the error had to be made on the GSP.com side. The credit card cannot charge your card twice. I've been through this before with another vendor.

If you change the charge .01 Cent it can be charged twice or more. or wait a couple of days.
I E-mailed GSP 3 times about the shipping to my zip... and have never got a resopnce. Even the things they have on E-Bay. No responce. trust me the Negative feedback will kill them on E-Bay.
