Wagstaff Extra 300
No I am still working on it. I am a professional pilot and working now. Hopefully it will be ready next week. I am taking my time and trying to do it right. I have about 15 hours of work done with 15 left to go. Like I said I am a professional pilot therefore I am pretty anal with my planes. Luckily no crashed yet!!

Wagstaff 300 first flight
Test flew my GP 300 today. Best plane I've flown yet. Built and set up according to manual. Powered with a Moki 2.10, Zinger 20X10 prop, Hitec servos with pull-pull on the rudder. Finished weight is 14.5LBS. Take off was gentle and stable with no rudder input to keep it straight. Flies all basic maneuvers at 1/4 throttle with hands-off inverted flight. Will hold a hover at 1/3 throttle and pull straight up with throttle. Landings are slow and stable with no tip stalling.
Well worth the long wait. Great Planes is a Quality product and this will be hard to beat!!!!!!!
Nice gob Great Planes!!!!!!!!!!!
Now for the 3D stuff-Maybe tommorrow!!!!!!!!!!!!

How's it going man!!....The weather has turned bad here but I'm still working on mine, I finally got the engine in....(Brison 3.2) and it is ready to be mounted,......I strengthened the motor box with some fiberglass strips and thinned 30 minute epoxy along with a few screws on the edge of the box ..and now it is ready to mount...my question for you is: should I use an isolation mount, you know the one from GP with the plywood plate and the rubber shoulder washers that go into it for vibration reduction?? or do you think that it is ok to mount it straight to the firewall.
Thanks Chris for your input

After comparing the GP and World Models, I bought one of these GP's last night!!! Let's see more flight test results so I can decide which engine to get. Based on the earlier posts here I am leaning towards the DA 50 or BME 55. Then again, I could wait for the DA 75!

Thanks Bruce....the engine needs another inch to clear the cowling, so do you think it would be ok to use the new engine standoffs that are available??
thanks for your input, when I started this thread a few weeks ago, I never thought that it would turn into a novel, if a person printed every page in this thread, they would practically have every thing that they need for this aircraft!!
thanks again you guys!!

the wing attaches from inside the fuse with large nylon bolts. 2 on each wing, and there are blind nuts installed at the factory in the wing root.
Very effective wing mount system, 2 plastic dowles, 2 nylon screws and the aluminum tube.
Great plane

engine standoffs
I believe it would be ok sounds like the ones advertised by Roger via his advertisement for the anodized ones would be nice i never have used them but i see them used all the time i usually just make a block with glueing 1/4 inch aircraft together until i get the right thickness make it just a little bigger than your backplate of your 3.2 expozy it on to firewall and then drill your engine holes thru both the block and firewall pretty simple setup i to will have to have a inch standoff using the Taurus 3.2 i believe maybe only 3/4 inch . Looking forward to getting this bird in the air next spring weather here is getting cold snow tonite . Good luck the Brison really ought to haul that bird vertical .

Hey Chris
Would you mind sending me some photos of your aircraft
I'd like to get an idea of how the reduntant electrical is all configured
and get an idea of how the smoke systems all sets up. I plan on using two RX's and one big battery (1800mah). And also I plan on using the rocket city control links, so I need some idea of how I'm going to set all that up too.
In general....just for some ideas
Thanks again guys

GP Patty Wagstaff Extra 300S
Hi,
I'm now to RC Universe.
I bought my GP Patty Wagstaff Extra 300S on 10/19. I can't get over the quality of the ARF. I have never really been a fan of ARFs but this really caught my attention. I love the MonoKote covering. I have looked it over pretty closely and there are only a few areas that I would have done differently if I was covering it.
I had Bill Fulmer from Custom Cut Grafix do the vinyl, I didn't want to use the stuff that came in the box. Bill's stuff is high quality and his price is well, cheap. He did all of the logos except the multi colored logos. I sent the sheet to him and he scanned it in. The only thing he couldn't do was the lettering to the tail and the USA logos (basically the multi-colored logos). So if you are looking for something that is really high quality try Bill.

I have decided to go with a 3W48 rear induction twin I had been debating between that and a ST 4500. Both are 5 HP but the 4500 exceeds the engine size. I don't quite understand that but I decided to keep the warranty intact.

QSPILOT and others
my posted weight before is not accurate.
my scale is weighing a 10 lb calibrated weight at 11 lbs so I will assume it is actually just under 16 lbs until I get a better scale

Landing Gear Cover
Hey Guys,
For those of you that haven't finished your planes and I guess for those of you that have, the method stated in the instruction manual for attaching the landing gear cover doesn't work. They say to counter sink the screw heads and CA the cover in place. I was skeptical about doing this but did it as the instructions says. I've got about 35 flights on my 300 and just noticed it wasn't there anymore. Great Planes was good enough to say they would send another one, but I would think about mounting the cover with screws. Also, be very careful of the canopy mounting screws. They just go into the mounting tab about a 1/16 of an inch. There's got to be a better and more secure way to mount the canopy with easy access.
Just a few comments coming from experience.

I attached the block using silicone. I did this for 2 reasons:
1. I have never heard of CA used with metal
2. if you use silicone or zap-a-dap-a-goo, and you ever have to take your landing gear off you can cut the silicone free with a razor.
30 flights!! Must be nice living in the desert.............I live in upsate NY and have not had the weather to fly, we had one good day but the plane failed the radio test, just ordered a bosch spark plug cap which should be here today....................can't wait!
Looks like this weekend is my only chance, we set the clocks back and next weeks weather is 40 degrees and snow.................need to get a winter home in Vegas!

My gear cover came off on the second flight. It's gone and I dont plan on replacing it. It will just be in the way to check the tightness of the gear screws. I tried to use velcro which has worked well on my skybolt for quite some time.
