Thanks for your time and advice, last night I call Tower and they told me that I should ship it back and include the shipping invoice with the box, only regular shipping;today I call again and the Costumer service manager told me that they'll send me by mail the return shipping label and also a new plane and I'll get it for Tuesday.I hope that nothing is wrong with it since when I checked the kit a little bit more I found out there were missing parts, and everything was loose inside the box,so I went to my LHS and look in another kit and everything was perfect and all the parts tied with Scotch tape.

Default BME 50 enough power?

I just recently about 2to 3 weeks ago flew my Extra 300s for the first time. I was a little disappointed in the power output of this motor for the first time. When i wanted to hover it I had to be at full power just to get it to try in stay in a hover. I even turned the high end needle in a little bit. This helped some. Tell me guys will this go away once this thing is broke in? and plus i'm using lawnboy ashless oil if this makes a differance, Thankks Matt

My BME 50 on my Patty is MORE than enough for this plane.

Even before break-in. At full power it should climb out of sight.

Start from basics. Check to see exactly where the needles are set.

Go by the book, I think they were somewhere around 1-1/2 turns.

What prop are you running ???.

I noticed you live in Colorado. Well so do I and my new ZDZ 50 is the same. We are just at too high of an altitude BUT I am getting much better performance using a 22X8 prop rather than a 22X10. I expect that once the engines break in a little more that you and I both will have much better vertical. 2 of my friends that I fly with have the same engine as me and one of the guys has been flying his engine for about a month now. His RPM's are improving little by little everytime we go out to the field.

Good luck to ya!

I live in Utah, fly at about 4000 ft asl and my ZDZ 50 pulls my 15 pound Cap straight up forever - I am putting a DA 50 on a PW and I'm hoping for the same - the PW is a little heavier, 16.5 lbs. Some of the ZDZ's and BME's have had some troubles I think the ZDZ's had some piston fit problems and the BME's were ign related but I'm turnin a 22/10 Mejzlik around 6600 on the ground so if you're not in that ballpark you may want to send it back.....

Thanks for the info everybody. Next time I go flying I will put the tack on it. I am also thinking about ordering a NX series 22x8 prop from airwild. I think it would turn better than the box tip zinger prop. Anybody use the NX series prop? If so how do they compare to Mejzlik props?

Zivkid,
I use the NX props but I havn't tried the Mejzlik so I can't compare the two. What I can tell you is after flying the Menz 22x8s I ordered the NX 22x8 and was disapointed. Then I tried the NX 21x8 and loved it. It seems the NX are a little longer than the Menz and the throttle response on the NX22 was way too slow. They recomended the 21" and were right.

BTW I'm running a Brison 3.2 which is somewhat comparable to your BME 50.

At $22. the NX 21x8 is a good value and if you ding it, it won't set you back like the Mejzlik. Also Airwild has great customer service and ship the same day you order if it's in the A.M.

Are the menz a good flying prop? And whats the differance between that and the Menz "S" prop?

Ya I have flown my P W 300 with a zdz 40 sport through 2 gals of gas, it is a real dog, I got it from Chief aircraft with a 40 as a package, the 40 has only 6600 rpm on an 18-10 prop they claim
it doe's 7400 0n a 20- 8 and a 20-10 prop on way, on vertical at full power it just stops flying and than snaps out, mine is an early
version and the cardboard wing and stab tubes are breaking.

It will fly with the cowl off but when you put the cowl on
the engine will not even run properly on the ground,
a friend of mine has the same thing with a Zenough 45.

If your looking for a pilot figure for your Wagstaff model, why don't you save yourself some trouble and probably some money and go to your local Wal Mart and buy a Barbie with the bushy blonde hair, cut her to fit and your done. I'm going to take the top clothing off, paint the ***** (you know, life like) and make her go topless.

My 1/4 Patty should be in Thursday, I'm on a waiting list for a DA50 with 23x10 Mejzlik and considering the carbon 4" spinner as well. I have a carbon gear coming from graphtechrc and I hope to order my hitec digitals in the next couple of weeks. 5625's on ailerons, 5945 on tail surfaces. What do you some of you guys think about the EMS battery backer, worth it?, I used a single rx and single 6v 2000 nimh in a 35% and it worked great. This is a smaller plane but has the same amount of servos. Just spreading some joy, I love this airplane stuff!!!

Can i ask why you would want that fast of a servo on your ailerons???

Default Aileron Servo

I had a MG5625 on the ailerons and stripped one of the gears. I think that's the ideal servo if you're going Hitec

Because I cannot afford digital servos, I am thinking about using 2 standard cheap 102 (sanwa/airtronics) servos for each aileron, and elevator, and 3 on the rudder. This is because the 102's are short on the 60+ ounce per inch mark so if I double them up I'm safe! I think I will put a O.S. BGX-1 in the front too.

If you guys think this setup will fly and prophang, I'll get it.

Thanks Alan
