If you really want good tail dragger operation, consider putting the gear in the wings. The plane will track better and won't tip on a wing tip. I did this to a couple of 4*60s, the same size planes, and, even though it was a little extra work, the results were worth it.

I added ply doublers to 3 ribs from the spar forward, added a landing gear block from Balsa USA, I think, and wire gear.

Thanks for the response Ed. I thought about putting the gear in the wings, but I'm concerned about the rough grass field that I fly at.
Thanks again Skip D.

The Tiger's have a hard point in front of the wing. I did the tail dragger conversion on the Tiger 2. I used a Sullivan tail wheel and bracket and used the Hanger 9 .40 size gear. For the Tiger 60 I'd look at using the Hanger 9 .60 size gear and the Sullivan tail wheel and bracket that is made to handle a 6 to 9 pound plane.

You might want to reconsider converting it to a tail dragger. I have never had a plane land like my Tiger 60. Once it makes contact with the ground it sticks like glue. We have 3 of the planes in my club and they all land that way. Either way you'll love the plane. One other suggestion. Every one that has one has mentioned that the plane is tail heavy. I mounted my engine as far forward as possible, installed a large battery pack under the tank and still added 2 oz to the nose...

Thanks Dcline. How do you think the Tiger would stand up to rough field flying??????? That is the main reason for the conversion.............Thanks in advance.

Well our is field is made up of cinders and clay, but we do drag and roll it. If you leave the gear in the wing I would suggest to try it and if it doesn't work out then convert it to a tail dragger. I did the exact opposite once on a stick. It was designed to be a tail dragger and I make it a trike. Big mistake. After fighting it on landings I went back to the tail dragger and problems were gone. I'm still flying it...

I think I'll try that Decline.........The trike gear is somethig different also. How does the Tiger 60 slow on final and how strong is the gear mounts in the wing??? Also, How is the prop clearance? I'm planning on running a 91 surpass with 13 - 14 " prop.
Thanks again.

Capt..... The gear in the wing is strong. I'm using a Magnum 91 with a 13x8 - prop clearance is fine. In fact we all have put a little negative down in the nose wheel which we believe accounts for the great landings. The plane slows just fine on final, in fact I even put flaparons (sp) and have never used them. Really this is one of the best flying planes I've ever owned. Good luck
