Where does one order either plane, aeroworks or world models? On aeroworks website they say coming soon for the 27% ultimate.

My firewall is 3 3/4inch between the tristock. The tristock on the front is extra stuff that I added and the manual only call for it on the rear side. Hope this helps.

] Anyway I'll work it out with another firewall attached somehow to the original. Thanks for the help. The internet is a wonderful thing, here I am sitting in the frozen Arctic 600 km ABOVE the Arctic Circle and somebody God knows how far BELOW the Equator is getting some measurements for me. I bought mine from Chief Aircraft, but you could get your local hobby shop to order one also. I prefer the WM Ultimate over the one from GP because it has the airfoiled tail feathers. The GP does not. The WM will definitely fly better, IMHO.

Here is where capt., got the 7 3/4 . Add whatever you think to main firewall (or bulkhead) to make it stronger. Maybe just double it. But be sure and keep the box that ties main firewall to the other 2 bulkheads. Use Stand-off if necessary between mount and main firewall. This is a lot of time doing these photos...hope this helps. Whoa! Don't get nasty now. The picture you put in the original post was of an airplane with the engine box installed, what was I supposed to think but that was the firewall you measured. Seems sensible to me. What your depicting in this post is a bulkhead in my books. In any case I'll handle it from here,
Thank You and have a wonderful day. [sm=spinnyeyes.gif]

Sorry...to much stress today. I would say we are both right. The part you call a bulkhead can also be made into a very nice firewall. I do think you need to tie it in with box extension to the 2 bulkheads inside plane. Do you agree with that? I tried my best to help....just not good at it I guess. Capt,n

The sides of the box go all the way back to the front of the canopy opening. They have tri stock on that former as well as small braces on the box sides that tie it to the formers inside the fuse. I guess if you use a larger firewall you could tie it back to the front former wit some thin ply and tristock but its not really needed.
Also if you need 4 inches to mount your engine, cut the box sides off flush and you should have 4 inches. I overlapped my sides and added the tristock for added strength. just a thought..

Great thread, Great plane!
One thing i havent heard , has anyone noticed excessive slop side to side with the center cabane?
I did on mine, especially when I would carry the plane from the center cabane.
The fix is simple- cut a square out of the top of the fuse, using the 4 corners of the cabane holes as refrence. Pull the 'plug' out, build 2 bulkheads between the 2 sets of uprights, plop the plug back in, recover.
Another mod i did was to make a removeable plate on the bottom of the fuse under the wing for an access hatch, pulled the dowels out of the wing, replaced them with 1/4 20 nylon bolts, and cinched the wings tight with nuts from the inside.
I love this plane, it'll do it all. spend some time programing and mixing out, and the skys the limit
Happy Flyin'

If there is anyone out there who can tell me spinner size I would appreciate it. I need to get one cut to fit my MSC prop. I think it is 3 1/2" but not sure.

Hey, Don, it is 3 1/2".
F2G, thanks for the input. Any other input would greatly appreciated. I'm glad you are enjoying yours. I can't wait to get mine in the air.

Howdy guys, I got my world models 27% done today. just under 15 lbs with Taurus 52. Does anyone know where I can get carbon fiber wing tubes? The ones that come with the model are heavy and belong in the same file as ALL the hardware that came with the plane. That would be the circular file. I found all the hardware to be poor as well, The coating is a joke, but from 15 or 20 feet it looks very nice. I here it flies like crazy though. I intend to replace the spinner and main gear with carbon fiber as well. I have all my planes (the ones I intend to fly) on diets. I should have gone with aerowerks.

I would like to know how in the world you got yours UNDER 15 lbs. I too am putting a TS52 in mine and it weighs 12 lbs. WITHOUT the engine, prop, spinner, etc. So it will be 17+ It is bone stock with nothing than what is needed. I think your scale is wrong maybe.

Take a good look at that Bag of just they gave you. put it on your scale and divide by 2. That is what you will save if you buy good stuff. titainium, carbonfiber and aluninium.
I don't bathe the thing in epoxy, wipe off the excess.
by the way those metal hinges weigh 8 onces. and the stock fuel tank is heavy as well, trash the tank and get a dubro.

I didn't use the metal hinges, I saved them for my screen door
I too was considering CF wing tubes and LG but I'll wait until I fly it. I am of the same opinion as you. From 20 ft. back it looks good but I am not overwhelmed with the plane in general. I think I'll just fly it for a season or two and dump it. There is much better out there I am sure.
I'll check the weight when I get it finished but if it's less than 17 lbs. I'll be surprised. I have heard lots of reports of this plane being 16.5 - 18 lbs. mine weighed 10.5 lbs. right out of the box not counting the hinges.

I'm thinking I will love flying this ultimate, even if it looks a little rough, I'll get some ooooo's and ahh'sssss out it. To be honest I am more excited about the engine than the plane. My favorite plane is the Pitts and the Christian Eagle. MY Eagle weighs in at a phat 20lbs. I know after the sermon on EVERY GRAM, I built the Eagle before I realized how important weight is. I have pix of the Eagle here at my profile galley I believe, Taken by a real talented photographer with the latest great camera. So after flying a heavy CE the ultimate will feel like it's lighter than air.
Someday I will put The Christian Eagle on the weight watchers program. It Is a handful to land but wonderful to fly, landing comes last so that a minor issue.lol

My problem is that the plane and I are separated by 3000 miles ( have been since July / 05 - work ) so I have no idea what size I need. I will be back home in 5 weeks ( finally ) and then I'll start the hunt. If you find anything in the meantime let me know. I weighed both tubes and if I remember correctly they are about 10 or 12 ozs.
