Default Motor mount

I've heard no problems with the mount and I am also using a saito 100. I had a friend come over last night and we looked the whole thing over. He flys a 1/3 scale and seemed to think that the mount looked as if it should do just fine. We did see some spots that I may hit with some extra CA. After reading some of the other posts I am also going to glass the wing center just to be on the safe side. I am also going to go with a pull pull set-up on the rudder.

Default Covering

Randy,

Were you as impressed as I was with the covering on this model?
I swear when I first pulled it out of the box I thought it was made with ABS plastic. The covering job was great, tight no wrinkles and no seams lifting anywhere..

Default Edge

So far Im impressend with just about everything. The quality is way better than I expected for the price. Looks like they maybe were a little stingy with the glue other than that it looks great. Sounds like people that are alrady flying it are happy with it in the air too. Unfortunatly i live in WI so mine wont see the sky till April. Please let me know how yours goes. Thanks. Take care. Default pull pull

for those of you that installed a pull pull rudder was there any problems installing it, and did you put the cables in tube the full length of the fuse or just where the cables come through the fuse. I was jut wondering because I see in the fuse the last former all the way in the back may need to be dealt with. So far I'm very impressed with this arf as I'm putting it together. I'm really looking forward to completing it. Should I be looking out for weak spots that need attention with epoxy or CA? After seeing some of the items here I'm going to glass the center of the wing. Thanks for all the input in these thread so far it has been very informative.

Thanks
Mark

Default Seagull Models Edge 540

Hello to all!

Very interesting thread! I bought a Seagull Edge two days ago without looking at this thread before making the buy. Now I am glad I made a good choice My plan is to use an OS .91 FX as some of you guys have suggested. Does anyone has a list of the extra accessories you should buy to complete the plane (i.e. servo extensions, etc. )?

Regards,

GL

on the matter of the pull pull we put tubes all the way works fine. we strengthen almost every thing we think needs it, but this is done on all our planes. the fiber on the wing is i think a must for just in case. but the rest they fly absolutely great, we compare ours to our yellow 300s, at lots of $$$ less.

Default 540

Just ordered one from Quantum models and the shipping was free. Thats 174.00 and free shipping for a 540 arf. You can't go wrong. I am going to spend a little extra time on the plane before I fly it. OS 91 fx is waiting. All the positive threads made up my mind. Thanks

Default fuel tank placement?

It looks like if I place the fuel tank per instructions, with the engine mounted sideways, the carburator (saito 100) will be an inch or more above the center of the tank , will this be ok? Thanks for your help. Randy

Default Popular Choices

Wolf123/adrian/all

Ok here are the most popular options put together according to your suggestions:

Motors
-OS 91FX or 120 :devious:
-Magnum 108
-Saito 100

Servos:
2 HS-525BB HIGH SPEED ( ailerons )
2 HS-545BB HIGH TORQUE ( elevator )
1 HS-605BB HIGH TORQUE ( rudder pull-pull )
1 HS-425BB DELUX BB ( accelerator ) my choice

Hardware
-To ensure your investment use Dubro
-Four 12" extensions for ailerons and elevator.

Extra weight
-Between 20 and 70 gr. Depends, in part, on the location of the accelerator servo, hardware used and motor selection.

Ideas
-Use carbon fiber to reinforce
-Use cables on the stab and rudder.
-Fiber glass to reinforce the wing

Regards,

GL

:boxing: yep spot on. it's really a marvelous plane with unbelievable quality out of the box, spend a little more as per above and you match the yellow/aeroworks boys and you still have $$ to spare.

Thanks!
The only information that I have not seen is related to the servo extensions needed on this airplane.

Any thoughts,

GL

By any chance do you know the length of these extensions? This way I can edit my post and include your two observations at the same time.

hi ducati996
take care on elevator linkage to assure left and right have the same travel, specially uf you have more than 25° of travel.
the only think i disagre is hs605 on rudder, this is a bad series of servo, try a hs945 or better hs5945
have a nice fly.

Adrian thank you for the info!

Mirco:

I was thinking about two servos for the elevator because you can put them in two different channels and adjust any differential with the radio. About the HS605, I will take a look at the specs on the HS945 and HS5945 and compare them to the HS605. By the way, what is wrong with the HS605?

GL

Mirco:

I understand your point. I have not used digital servos before, do you need the programmer for these servos?

Mirco:

Great Pictures ! I would like to see a picture of the setup for the radio system inside the airplane and a close look at the tail section if this is not to much to ask please.
