Anyone assembled a Kyosho G trick lately?
I was less than impressed with mine.
Have had many Kyosho planes previously, and all were great quality, but the G Trick which I just got has several areas where the wood and covering have been compressed, and the fiberglass cheek cowl was damaged in one area, and doesn't cover the cut away covering on the fuse sides in another area.
The fuse former for the wing dowels had to be redrilled about 1/4 inch lower, the belly pan had the fiberglass seperated in places, and the aluminum motor mounts were apparently drilled too large, and when tapped, the threads are not deep enough to hold the 3mm bolts, as any tighteneng strips the threads.
I redrilled, and used larger bolts.
Just wondering if anyone else has had these problems, as it seems unusual from what I have seen in the past from Kyosho.
Thanks

Sounds about right for a G-Trick. Mine was severely lacking glue in the fuselage (who knows about the wing). Check to see if the balsa sides are glued to the ply doublers, check to see if firewall and LG area have enough epoxy, as well as the wing hold down plate. Mine went together OK in terms of fit/finish... just the belly pan was hard to keep aligned while the epoxy cured. There are better values out there for the money... at least it flies well!

Thanks for the reply's on the G Trick.
I repaired the questionable areas on mine, and it does fly well, although I was disappointed in the quality of the plane, especially as it is billed as Super Quality.

I was looking at the G trick for some time, not cheap. But for the money I think I will go for the ZNline Syngy 90 3d.

I built mine years ago and it went together perfectly. Still looks great today, nothing has ever gone wrong with any part and its still flown regular as my favorate hovering aeroplane.
You must got the runt in the litter.

bla bla,
If he got the runt of the litter then there was twins!! My kit looked good in the plastic but went together like an OLD lanier arf.
I had to heat up the flanges on the belly pan to get the flanges to lay down enough to glue them. This cracked the paint and really did not get the flanges down very good. Also the rear of the belly pan would not come close to fitting the fuse.
The covering was loose at many, And I mean many, of the seams. I could have covered this thing in the time I put into re-sealing the seams.
I am not happy with the ARF at all for the money I paid for it.
I hope that it flies as good as everyone says it does.

i'll have to add a cent or two.
my g trick went together like a dream, everything is flawless, only problem i had was i lost a wheel and pant during flight, not suprised as my 91 puts a few vibes through her.my covering, fiberglass fitting everything went together like a jig-saw puzzle, effortless.she looks great, has held up great, flies like a dream,on rails.
you get what you pay for,in most cases, this being one for me personally ,i would get another if need be.that might be soon as i'm upgrading to a ys110,should be a bit more for the knife edge loops and verticle

When you guys are trying to fit fiber glass parts such as the belly pan you shouldn't be heating them up and trying to reshape them, then sticking it with super glue.
Instead trim them for a good fit front and back then mix up a thick paste of ballons(much) and epoxy (little). Place the paste on the saddle and float it into place letting it retain its form... when happy, wipe the seam with a wet finger to remove excess epoxy/balloons and smoothing out the joint.
Parts stuck, gaps sealed, everyones happy.

bla bla,
The edges of my belly pan were angled up at about 45 degrees.
That is a lot of micro balloons and epoxy. I think for the price the parts should have a reasonable fit.
Heating fiberglass and reshaping it on a part like this does not hurt it. It is just a pain in the butt!
The pan did not even have the same shape as the fuselage at the rear. I had to make a new former for the rear just to make it wide enough to fit.
