I would really like to know if the 540 would be a better purchase than the DP 300 as well.
I was ready to buy that until I came across this string.
Thanx.

Thanks Rongreg,

It is going to be a little while before I start mine, but I am making not of all the tips that I hear. Keep us posted as to how the progress is going.

ICI,

That is great to hear. The DA has been the engine that I have been leaning towards. Do you have any installation pictures in your extra? Or when you get towards mounting in the edge.

Lean 540,

As for info on the plane, pricing, etc. Check out www.davepatrickmodels.com and www.chiefaircraft.com

As for comparison to the extra, I can't tell you, but I am very pleased with what I see in the edge thus far.

I have the DP Edge (Blue scheme). I just finished putting in my engine this weekend. I am using a BME 50. The engine fit perfectly and only sticks out of the cowl on the very front corner of the head. I basically eliminated the formed scoop but the engine looks like it belongs on this plane. If I have a chance I will post some pics.

Pics of the blue scheme would be great! I would also like to see any pics of various engine installations.

XOrionFe - Pics of the BME install would be great!

Rongreg - have you started installing your Brison yet?

Anyone with a DA 50 or ZDZ 40/50 installed yet?

Thanks Guys!

How does the tail incidence adjuster work on the edge?

Alright, since my photos are not showing up any more, I've placed them in my gallery. Just click on the gallery button under this message to check them out.

As far as the adjustable stab is concerned, there is an aluminum rod that extends through the fuselage near the leading edge of the horizontal stabilizer. This rod has flat spots on the top and bottom at each end (mine had to be widened). There is a plastic block in each stab through which socket head or set screws thread in from the top and bottom. These screws come into contact with the flat spots on the aluminum rod. You can loosen one side and tighten the other to adjust the incidence. It works pretty good and holds the setting great once you get everything trimmed out. The aluminum spar tube is used as a pivot point for the adjustment of each stab.

What you see there is all standard. I just added some spacers from aerografix and shortened the stacks on the muffler a bit.

Default Blue Version -PICS

Here is one of the pictures. I am going to put the rest including pictures of the BME 50 fit and also a side by side with my RC America Cap 232 w/Brison3.2 which is basically an ARC version of the Midwest Cap that has airfoiled tail feathers. I put the two side by side because it gives good size perspective and most of you have seen Midwest Caps in person.

I have the ARC version and thus far am very impressed with it. Just waiting for my DA-50 to arrive. Plan on using one 9151 digital servo on each airleron, 2 on the elevator in the rear and one on the rudder, pull-pull. Same set up as my DP Extra, first run. With the ARC, I have the luxury of checking all the glue joints etc, have found no weak glue joints as yet. Also waiting for composite landing gear from Graphtex.

Does anyone have a good source for 1 1/4" composite wing tubes for this bird?

www.graphtechrc.com.
Did not get a quote as they were just making the mold for this new kit. I have been happy with their C/F gear for the DP Edge & I think they were $50 I also really like their C/F tail wheels and are using them on both the Extra and the Edge. Around $25 if I remember correctly

Thanks pceagon. Do you guys think that the edge would fly 3d with a zdz 50 and 20 oz filled up smoke tank mounted in the cirkeld area on the picture?

On the ARC version, is the cowl raw or already painted white?

I would think that putting the smoke tank behind the cg like that is going to make it tail heavy on take off. Do you have any room up front for it? I sure would try to put it in front of the cg.

The cowl and wheel pants are gel-coat white. It is also white around the canopy but will accept paint.

Dan:
Is there anyway you can put the fuel tank close to the cg and have the smoke tank way up front inside the motor mount box. That way, it will be nose heavy untill the smoke runs out and then be back to normal. Just my .02 worth. Keep us up to date on whether or not you use a smoke system. Am thinking in that terms now. The new slimline smoke system sure looks interesting.

Thanks guys.

I havent got the plane i just wanted to know if you could put smoke in the edge. I wanted to order one but then i found out it would cost 300 dollars to ship to dennmark, and i would have to pay 32% extra of both the plane and shipping when it goes tru costums so i will either by a PW extra or a ZNline enigma.
