RE: CMP 540 Edge T 28% Build
High = Everything I can get out of the control surfaces and servos. 55% Expo.
Low = recommended. 35% expo.
That's how I currently have mine set up for it's maiden flight... I still haven't had a chance to take it up.

I use long stand-offs on my gas airplanes (3") but the stand offs I use are threaded on both ends so you use two short bolts per standoff instead of one long bolt.

Just built one of these myself. I was wondering what you used for high and low rates? And what expo if any you used

I broke in my engine last weekend, but I forgot the wing tubes ( duh ) so I could not fly mine.
One of the guys who flies primarily Composite-Arf planes came over to help me, and he commented that it was a nicely constructed plane.
We compared the wing sizes with the Composite-Arf 540T ( which is a lighter plane by about 1.5lbs ) and found that the CMP 540T actually had bigger wings, much to my surprise.
I'm hoping to maiden it this coming weekend ( finally! ).

Hello opjose I have a CMP 540 EDGE T 50cc too could you let me know what weight your plane is reason why my edge is 17 lbs it like to snap a wing over when doing a loop.
Let me know how how you make Scott

Got mine out for maiden flight today. This thing flys great. Got it to do a nice flat spin, harriers very well, and knife edge is dead on (no mixes). My weight came out at 14.8lbs with FTL45 on it. Great plane for the money. Have less then $850 in the whole thing and its all new. Did do some hovering with it. I still have the break in prop on the motor, so I hope when I put a 21X8 on it this will really get fun.

No wing snap on loops.
If you find that this is happening to you, you may have either too much or too little throw on the elevator.
If you have too much the wings will stall unevenly during the loop. You do not want them stalling unless you are trying for things like a waterfall.
Conversely you can push the rates even higher and both wings will stall at the same time very quickly, but you are not really getting loops, more like a stall loop.
Try lowering the amount of throw you have for your loops and I'll bet the problem goes away.

Yup maidened mine today.
NO SNAP problem at all.
However I have my C.G. set just aft of the second tick mark...
IMHO this is FAR too TAIL HEAVY at either of the two rear marks!
Inverted my plane climbed hands off when it was trimmed for upright level forward flight!!!!
The C.G. should be forward of the first tick mark ( forward of the 25% mark ) for your first flights.
To achieve this, I had to move my batteries forward instead of where I originally had them in the pictures above.
Once forward inverted flight was stable as well as upright flight.
I had no slow speed snap tendancies, and the plane flies extremely well... better than I had thought.
With the ZDZ50 NR engine, this plane flies straight up, at 2/5 throttle!
The gear is pretty tough too.
I would recommend adding triangle stock to the area where I have the battery tray in my picture.
Notice that there is little support here just aft of the wing, prior to the back of the canopy area.
A little re-inforcement is a good idea here.

Funny you mentioned moving your batteries forward to give more nose weight. I had my CG dead on at the 28% mark and the plane porpised very badly. So I moved my batteries forward at the field and it fly fine after that. But I think im going to add a touch more to it still seems a little tail heavy but not near as bad.

RE: CMP 540 Edge T 28% Build
Yup it's way too tail heavy at the last mark,
Even at the second mark I'm SURE GLAD I had a full tank of gas in it, otherwise I would not have been able to land it.
Forward of the first mark is where the C.G. belongs as you discovered.
Sadly I lost mine today ( not due to the plane itself! ) when my TX module overheated in flight. (Bad module, I swapped another one in and confinued to fly other planes all morning).
The plane went in TAIL first breaking the fuse where I indicated the frame should be beefed up in my prior message. I had not done so yet.
It hit hard, but fortunately nothing else broke or was damaged.
All of the surfaces/wings, etc. are intact...
I'm going to order another and beef up that area, though this was unrelated to my accident.
That gives me a collection of spare parts, while minimizing built time as I merely transfer everything over.
BTW: For anyone following along
I used inexpensive 130oz/in High Torque analog standard sized servos and these were just fine with this plane. It doesn't need more.

Sorry to here that. Which brings up a good question. Can you buy just the fuse or do you have to order the whole plane again?

That way I end up with a bunch of spares and I can transfer everything over rather quickly.
NP will at times sell parts, but at these prices don't count on it, as it means that they must open a box and use it for parts.

RE: CMP 540 Edge T 28% Build
I just built a flew the 50cc Yak and it came out to 15pounds 4 ounces...85" wing span...I changed the control horns to fiber and bought CF wing tubes...but this Egde plane should be lighter than that? Any Vids yet..thinking of puting a EVO 45cc in one..Oh, my Yak has an Area 51..
