Finally got to maiden mine yesterday. I will post a video soon. Everything went fine, and the plane flies great. Had a motor mount bolt come loose and a couple of the crimps on my flying wires loosened up. Not sure why that happened but I will fix that soon.

Sweet! That plane holds a knife edge well, even at half throttle! Lands and taxi's well too! That Mintor really moves the Gee Bee right along. Nice job Ronnie, now you have given me more incentive to get back at my Gee Bee build. I came home from the Toledo show with a 1/3 scale Pitts complete with engine which kind of distracted me a bit hehe. BTW, what make & size prop did you run on this engine? Any idea what max RPM your seeing? Pete

Yea, the knife edge was almost too easy. It needs very little rudder to maintain altitude. The plane is very sensitive to yaw, which is to be expected being as short coupled as it is. There was a little cross wind and I kept trimming the rudder back and forth until I figured it was just the wind.
Now I have to fix the flying wires and add my graphics to it.

Forgot to answer your question. I ran a 20A Vess prop. I have a 19B ordered but it will be a while before it comes in so I decided to try it with this one. Haven't checked RPM yet, my tach battery was dead.

I left the plane a little nose heavy on purpose. I know that this helps with the bouncing that many people are having troubles with. I am using the stock tires. After that first landing I know that I need to keep a little more speed on the plane at touchdown to keep the tail from dropping and making the plane bounce. I think the trick is going to be letting off of the elevator as soon as the wheels touch so that it lets the tail come up until the speed is blead off.

Now my works are suspended. I'm waiting the 24 oz tank and the Williams Brothers dummy engine.

Yeah since we are adding extra support wires to our oleo struts our planes will come in a bit heavier. I am also adding a TME smoke system which includes an extra battery pack for pump motor, and additional 16 oz tank for the smoke oil! The wing loading is light on this plane to begin with, so I think it should fly fine. All the other planes I read about on this thread were around the 11 to 12lb weight when finished.

The smoke will look great on this plane! Making me think about adding it to mine. I think I will try to get a few more flights on it and maybe I will add it a little later.

Hey Buddy, yeah I'm still following this thread. Just been too busy with work to finish my GeeBee. Hope to really get back to it this week end. Would be nice to finish it now that our good flying weather is here up north! How is you plane holding up? Any issues pop up? Pete

I had some of my flying wires come loose and my muffler extension fell off on the first flight but all of that has been fixed and ready to try again.
I think flying this plane is going to be addictive!
