bubbagates,

Thank you.....thank you!

P.S. Could you tell I'd been out flying?

I guess you can say it flew well considering how many smiles you used

BTW...you are more than welcome, I am glad we could help you out. I just gave away 2 engines and may have some JR 537 servos shortly

I have a request for all of you kind gentlemen. I am a Police Officer in Miami Dade County. I have been flying for about a year. Yesterday while at my field I met a new guy who is waiting on some stuff from tower. I offered to give him my Nexstar realflight sim and cable to practice on, since he putting together an ARF nexstar. The thing is, I have my usb nexstar realflight cable but can not find the cd-rom with the sim. I was once given a free set of wings from someone here on RCU ( http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_15...tm.htm#1517575 ) for a Sig SE, because I put mine in a tree (it was about 8 months ago). I am not asking for a pirate copy, I am just looking for someone who does not need there nexstar Sim any longer, as I do not either, since I am now using AeroFly Deluxe. I would just like to help out the guy at the field.

WizRacer,

Sorry that is one program I do not have, but I wanted to chime in and tell you how cool I think this is.

I'll make you a deal though, You fly me to Orlando and I'll buy the CD for him, JUST KIDDING. I used to live there for 8 years and I do miss it although I get there about 3 times a year and the Keys twice a year.

Well...first time on this thread... and to make a long story short... I'm sure my pictures will speak for themselves. Seems these here planes don't fly well if the battery manages to come unpluged . It rolled split-S and full throttle into the ground. The engine was torn into pieces... lost the needle valve assembly but the carb survived. The crankcase is shot... torn wide open... but it still rotates... not sure, but does anyone think it has a chance for repair with a new crankcase? Front half of the P-Box was shattered also... rest still good. This engine was only a few weeks old... so the parts are in good condition, given the circumstances. Also... I have a few .40 engines that are older and couldn't pull this plane I was flying very well, and some Older 4 chanel radios (batteries need replacement), a few older RX (7ch, and a few 2 ch) So if someone is interested, drop me a PM.

That's what I have... What I want... a time machine . Seriously. Looking for a kit to start building... not in desperate need... so I'd be willing to part with a few bucks also. preferably a low wing acrobatic trainer. Also... if anyone has an old 50-65 4 stroke... I'd like to bench one to learn more about em to eventually put one in the air.

Default RE: Pay it forward (Was freebie and fee engine)

HELLO THREAD :
IT IS NOW MY TIME TO PAY FORWARD
History:
Several years back I posted an interest in locating a certain plane. About 3 weeks later a package arrived with that plane in it, completely RTF. The sender and I have become best friends even though we have yet to meet personally. Even though the model was for LineControl still the pay forward will be made to apply in RC. There never ANY CHARGE for anything, not even POSTAGE.

Today's story:
For more than two months I have observed MANY postings by a young man who is DESPERATE to get started in the RC hobby. He has so many obstacles in his way, that , IMO they are unavoidable and impossible to overcome.
I am attempting to contact this young person because I want to find out if there's any way those impediments can be overcome. If I get a "reasonable" story, and after talking directly with the Father (of course).... I will provide a FULL TRAINER outfit, of Top Quality and in perfect operational condition, with everything included from the TX down to the last control horn. This plane is truly perfect for learning and should provide good service. The young man reaches his 16th.birthday on FEB 09....so it should be a timely event. All the postings reflect TRUE INTEREST and are patently true in every respect. Reading them leaves no doubt that this is a meritorious young person.

Closing: once the contact has been made and the deal GELS, we will come back to post an acknowledgement to the usefulness of this thread.

*ding ding ding* Ladies and Gentlemen.....We have another couple of winners in the lottery of people who truly understand what this forum is all about. I'd like to publicly thank Larry Wampler for his aid in shipping funds and J3Fan for just 'getting it' period. It is nice to see because some here don't. *sigh*

Ok, everyboby I have a Saito 56 thanks to bubbagates. Now I need a trainer airframe if you have one you don't need or want PLEASE let me know and I can maybe pay for all of shipping. I'll make you the same promise I made bubbagates which is that when I get my disabilty started I'll give back to Pay it forward. Thanks again bubba
Thank you for your time.
I just wanted to let everyone know just how good of a person Mike is.

Here is the story of the dumb thing I did and how Mike dealt with it.

I had agreed to send him a Saito I had plus some props and servos to go with it. He agreed to cover the shipping and I preceeded to get the engine out of the plane and pack it up. During the removal I needed to remove the needle valve to get the cowl off, no big deal.

I then preceeded to pack up everything and ship it. Well last night I was out in the workshop and I happen to feel something under my foot. I look down and there is a high speed needle all bent to heck from me stepping on it. After a few seconds I realized where it was from.

So now I feel like crap because I just sent this engine off with no needle valve in it and have just bent the crap out of the one that belongs to it. So after a few minutes of searching Horizon's web site I order a new valve and have it shipped to Mike directly and the sent a PM to him to apologzie for the idioctic mistake on my part.

Not even an hour later he Paypals me a few bucks. Now I even feel worse because I now felt like he thought I was asking for payment but I was not.

So Mike, since you have not responded to my PM, if you read this, thanks for the payment but it was not needed and my PM to you was not intended to ask for any payment.

Now the reason I am mentioning this at all is he is still looking for a trainer kit. What I am looking to do it get a few people together that are willing to throw, say $20.00 or whatever you can afford, into a pot and since I work at my LHS partime I can order him a kit or ARF which will depend on the total amount of funds that we get together. I figure on letting this run for at least a week, maybe 2 weeks

If you are interested in doing this, please PM me. DO NOT post the reply to this thread as I would like this to remain completely private among the people who participate in this.

The engine he got was a Saito 56 with props ranging from 11X5 to 12X6. I am thinking along the lines of an LT-40. Any other kit or ARF ideas is more than welcome

Just a couple of reminders

This is from RCAdmin,

RCU wants to help out and see what "officially" we can do to make the PIF (pay it forward) program bigger to help more rc'ers who are in need. If you guys have suggestions on some things we could do to facilitate this let me know.

For the ones that have a need and may be to proud to ask or afraid to ask....

A little bit of time ago I was that very same way. Thought I could do everything and anything and most of it seemed to come natural and my pride would overide my common sense. Now I'm older and what I like to believe is somewhat wiser and have come to realize that most people are good natured at heart and one thing that you will discover is that in this hobby so many people are more than willing to help without expecting anything in return. Some will come up and ask if you need it, others will help if asked. You will e surprised how many new and genuine friends you will have.

Now as in everything in life you also have the ones that will not help, think that they can do it better than everyone else. One thing they always forget is that even they had to start somewhere and they did not know everything. Well to each his own. In the hobby if you ever start to believe that you know it all and do not ask for help then you most likely are kidding yourself and it will become expensive quickly. I work in a technical profession where this kind of "holy'er than thou" thinking runs rampid and once you remind them that they did not know everything when they started, you become the @!%@$#hole. Oh well .

If you ever get a chance to visit the TOC and any IMAC, IMAA or just visit the local clubs fun fly and just watch and start talking to people. I got the chance to talk to several pilots that routinlely are invited to the TOC and fly multiple IMAC contests every year about 6 months ago. They were all extremely pleasant to talk with, remember well how they got started and made recommendations to me to become an IMAC competitor and even offered to critque my flying (which I let them do) and to this day I still follow the advice I was openly given and I hope to be competing in 2005.

What I am trying to say is DO NOT be afraid to ask if you really need it. If it is something you want but have no need them let someone else take it. It is up to the person giving the item away to make the decision as to who gets it and why and Minn and I have suggested several posts ago that PM is used and a conversation is started between the 2 parties before a decision is made.

All we ask is that when you are able, you return the favor to someone in need in the hobby, that is the one and only rule. That is why this thread was started. It was not my original idea (Razor-RCU started it by giving away a good engine) but I took it and just changed the name and gave it a different purpose.

Another good example that this thread has done is I gave a decent radio to someone who needs one to get his trainer back in the air so he can return to teaching other to fly, He is young and does not have allot of money, I just saw he has "Paid it Forward" a few posts ago so it does work. By and large, that is not the only one ( I even know of 2 or 3 planes that have been given).

I wish to thank those that have so generously given up to this point.

Now...speak up and tell us all what you NEED...come on...give it up, someone will jump it ASAP.

Ok folks,

We have now had 3 people offering donations to this very worthy cause, 4 if you include myself . These people have already made other contributions in other ways to this thread. This particular idea was born out of the need to get a plane for someone that wants to fly but has a disability.

RCU is looking into setting up an email address to use through Paypal to send the contributions. Until this happens, please continue to PM me with the donation you have in mind and I will forward you the needed info. All donations are in complete confidence and NO personal information will be given out. No access other than myself will be allowed to the Paypal account. If you want to know how we are doing then PM me.

Now that donations are involved I will be a little tougher to convince when asked for something. I will require verifiable proof of the reason that is given. I will not use any of the donation money without first contacting the current people that have donated their hard earned cash and have received their approval. In this approval the majority rules and due to time differences and schedules this process could take a few days. Domation are not tax deductable since I am not a non-profit orginazation.

I will normally only accept donations made through Paypal but I can work will you on another way.

RCUniverse's involvment in the donation process is strictly limited to giving me an email accout in which to use for this purpose and nothing else. they are willing to help when needed in anyway they can but the donation idea is strictly mine and they are in no way responsible for the money that is collected.

The original rule of the thread still applies and that is you you pay it forward in any way you can, when you can. Remember, it is the thought that counts. As an example there is an RCU member that has graciously donated funds for shipping which helps save the person donating the item from having to spend his money to send the item.

OK that's all for now, I just looked and I am the last 4 posts on this thread...I'll be quiet for a little while now. If anyone has any other thoughts on how to handle this by all means let me know

Yea Db,

I liked it better when your word was considered to be your bond. In my eyes, a person is only as good as their word. Money, power and material items mean absolutely nothing when it's all over and you are lying there waiting to die.

In most cases and this thread has proven this, most people are good at heart and will help out when they are able. For me, it's all about getting a simple thank you. That's all I need. I get a wonderful feeling just knowing I have helped out someone and what I have done gives them great joy.

There have been cases, VERY FEW CASES, on this thread that people have gotten upset that they did not get something. Crap happens

Hey Grub,

Oh I'm keeping my spirits up most defintely. I just made somones day by getting donations to get them a plane. Although I am a little short still, they are coming in and I will make up whatever the diference is next week.

The thread took a big jump in the last few days. I lovin it completely. Besides both of my new toys just got here. I ordered a 9303 and I am sitting here transfering all my setting from the 6102 into the 9303. It's a bit of work but well worth it.

I also just got a Kangke Cap 232 120 size with a Roto 35vi for it. Now if only I had the time to get it together and fly it plus there is still snow on both of the fields.

The Cap was a pretty good deal I bought the combo at the bottom of the page

Alright everyone,

I would publically like to thank those of you that have donated so far to getting this plane. I will not publically name your names but you all know who you are.

I cannot thank you all enough and I am sure the person getting this plane is completely overwhelmed, I know I am. I am still trying to stop my jaw from hitting the floor. This is just amazing/unbeleiveable/joyous, go ahead and pick your adjective. I cannot think of anymore as I am too overwhelmed [X(]

Available: I have enough Hobbyzone challenger parts that if someone could scrape up a TX and a charger (saw a TX on eBay for 13.99 and the charger for 8.99)... this 3-Chan electric would be complete. If anyone is interested or knows someone who is... PM me as I am more than happy to sent the spare parts on their way. This bird is on chan 6... I also have a chan 4 fuselage that Horizon accidentally sent me and just said keep... so it's been sitting for months now. Any interest... pm me and let me know.

Thanks!

THIS IS J3fan and I am sad to have to report that my CANDIDATE for the TRAINEE PACKAGE seems to have dissapeared from the forums. Also he has never replied to my multiple attempts to establish the first contact.....I will continue to monitor in the hope that he will show up again and that we can agree on the terms. If so, when it happens , I will return here to update the posts. Wish (him) luck

J3,

That's not good to hear. It's up to you but as you mentioned, give him a few days and if nothing happens you did all you could and there are plenty of others earlier in the thread that could use this package. I can think of an EMT, A teacher needing it for a class project and a few others.

Hi Bill

I just want to tell everybody that FEDEX came today and brought me some goodies, a Saito 56,4-JR-537 servos, and a HITEC receiver and 7 props and a spinner yee hah, This stuff even smells good.

I'd also like to thank bubbagates and all the people who are pitching in to get me an airplane. I have to pinch myself to make sure it's really happening. Well anyway thanks again.

I just saw this program for the first time ever, and truly have to say this is like extreme makeover home edition. Anyway, im trying to get into the hobby, but savings are low for me. I really want to get a trainer and have no place to go, except here, if anyone has one lying around, or just bored with it, please PM me. I wont mind buying it, but if the price is high, ill pass.

Thanks so much everyone,

Michal
