Matt,

Really nice job on the plane. If I send you my new 1/4 scale CAP232 with everything you need can you guys put it together for me.

Anyway, I may have a copy of G2 around the end of the month. If you get one PM me, if not please remind me around the 23rd of this month (feb) via PM as this thread takes off and it's sometimes difficult to go back through the posts
Sure, we'll put it together for you, but it might have been "re-kitted" by the time you see it again!

In regards to the G2, I'll try to remember to remind you around the end of the month . . . thanks for the offer!

Also, if anybody knows of some plans for a simple field equip. box, one of the cadets would like to build one at his H.S. workshop. I did a quick search but didnt find anything too exciting. Thanks for the input.

bubbagates,

Those boxes look great. I'll forward the plans on to the cadets and let you know what comes of it. Thanks!

Hi Bubbagates
I wanted to let you know about something that makes a great feild box for little cost, I found that stanley makes a rolling tool box that stacks there about 24.00 at walmarts and they make a great field box also they have a built in handel and wheels to roll them around

Larry,

I got one. There is a huge thread on that very box, I think its called
the field box from hell
with all of the steps that were used to create it.

Unless I misunderstood which is entirely possible today as I'm worn out [&:] Matt was asking for plans so one of his cadets could build it in his high school wood shop. That's when I found the last link in the post. Thats a very nice box and has a very complete set of plans with it. Wish I was very skilled in woodworking as it looks cool.

BUT I sure can cut up plastic with the best of them

Mike,

The flaps are actually the ailerons and the hinges are called CA hinges. You need thin CA glue for those. You need at least 30 minute epoxy to glue the wings together and the stab to the tail section.

The manual that comes with the plane tell you everything you need and where to use it.

HI ALL,
my name is mike berry and i live for the next few days in boone nc and am moving to asheville where i might say there are many places to fly. I think you guys rock and are very generous to help out people, witch i love to do when i can but not so much lately,
any way my situation is that right now i am a full time student going to ab tech for pc engineering, i have had a few problems lately like my battery ruining my esc and rx and this is due to a bad charger i belive, so now i have a gypsy with no electronics and no job due to school and driving 80 miles every day to school and bad gas milage and the move, so i have no $$$ to fix it with, and not only that but in asheville there is never a calm enough day to fly a park flyer, so my proposal is that if someone with a nice .40 size high wing alieroin trainer and a rx that will work with my futaba skysport 4ch that would be interested in donating or trading for a very decent gypsy. the wind there is usually north and steady at 10-15 mph, never gusty really but a tad much for a gypsy but fine for a 40 size high wing, plus i have a buddy box and cord so i can teach my nephew Clayton to fly when he gets a year or 2 older, hes 7 now , i have the gypsy up for trade, i just need rx for futaba skysport, plane and mabey motor, i tried talkin to some of the guys that fly at the local club but there all stuck up and not so friendly so any help is greatly appreciated

OK everyone,

I have a brand new, not in the box, Hitech 7 channel Dual Conversion shift selectable reciever. This reciever works with both JR and Futaba transmitters and requires a dual conversion Hitech crystal to work properly. It has never been installed into a plane and has recently (today) been tested using a dual conversion crystal and my JR9303

The model number is HFD-08RD RCD3800 and is positive shift for JR and negative shift for Futaba.

Here is a link to the receiver on hitec's web site and the manual for the receiver can be download from this link as well

http://www.hitecrcd.com/Receivers/supremeairSSRX.htm

PM me if you need it and we'll talk If you happen to be on channel 31 then you can have the crystal that is in it.

An update for those who were kind enough to give me some opinions when I asked for some earlier in post #256.
Mr Hill has decided to take the PICA Spitfire for his spring class project.
As a matter of fact it is winding its way to Calumet City as I peck here.
And as some folks suggested, the other two kits are being liquidated and the proceeds sent to the class for the other expenses associated with the kit. Engines, servos etc etc.
The final disposition of the two kits is still not a confirmed thing yet but I will detail their disposition when finalized.
I just wanted to take time and space here to thank those who responded and to let those people know the project is advancing.
Thanks once more to those who gave me the assistance.
DaveP

Well, I have an Irvine-46 that runs better than my OS-46FX's- Bubba you know anyone who could use it? I am trying to kep up with the threads but you seem to have a pretty good system here

One of the flanges on the muffler is broken, I attempted to JB-weld it but it would not hold- The prospective owner can use a strap-on or get a muffler from Just Engines for a few $$

The Irvine is made in the UK they run great on 5% nitro (save some $ on fuel), OS-8 plugs and would be perfect for a trainer of any kind---

PM me if your interested- Thanks!

Razor,

Good to here from ya. Those are great engines, scream little banchees [X(]. My original instructor has that exact same engine. He bought a SSE and added an APC 11X7 prop on my advice.

He would outrun me on my SSE with an OS46AX. Exact same setup except for the engine. I told him to change the prop to a 11X6 so I could keep up with him. He just laughed until he went to high rates and did a roll at almost full throttle. Dang thing became a blur, I lost count at 3 rolls and he almost pile drived it in from about 300 feet because he got so disoriented because of the roll rate, even with that engine/prop combo he could hover the beast at 1/2 throttle and pull out at about 3/4 throttle.

I'll look back through the threads throughout the day and PM ya.

Well, my uncle Ed and I started on my LT-40 today, got some pics I'll post in a few days, we'll finish it up tommorrow. Still gotta mount the engine and the servos and all the linkage then double check everything and then we should be done. And all I can say is the black birds better watch out. LOL

I love this Idea of Pay if forward and could use it’s help. I would like to get hold of trainer equipment. High wing plane, motor and receiver. I have a JR radio and had a pilot locally who donated wheels and some fuel tank from a post I made else where here in Toledo oh. Back in December. You can read the post here.

http://users.boardnation.com/~rckerr...lay;threadid=3

as you can see I haven’t had any other luck though. I’d like to teach an under privileged youth group and homeschoolers, but being on Social Security I find myself with more time then money and can’t afford to buy the necessary equipment needed.

Any and all help would be greatly appreciated, and I’ll post pictures of the kids with there planes when I get it up and running. I’ll also be sure to impress upon them the Idea of "Pay it Forward!!"

I'm as happy as a clam!
Both auctions I had going, for indirect use as a PIF project, have ended with a buy it now.
Funds are on their way to me, to be sent on to the end users.
Have talked with Mr. Hill and his spring class is totally excited about their upcoming build.
For those picking this up at this juncture, here are the recepients:
http://wccs.k12.in.us/isms/staff/cor...vity/index.htm
I have to admit, I'm excited also!
It is truly enjoyable to watch folks do good.
It's even a better feeling to have helped in that activity.
Another heart felt thanks to the providers of this website.
Without you there is no way I'd ever have known about these young men and women let alone do anything to assist.
And a special thanks to you bubbagates for your advice and consultation.
Again, THANKS!
DaveP
PS As a side note-One buyer was the son of a college fraternity brother who I've not been in contact with in over 40 years.
How do you spell 'small world'?

I hope I dont get my head chewed off for this but i dont see why schools are making use of this. schools have budgets for projects. I would personally like to see some young guy that really needs help and wants to get into the hobby. from the link that was supplied above they already had planes I dont get it, i think this defeats the object of pif.
please feel free to ball me out if you think i am wrong I would not have said anything but my father-in-law who is a teacher was looking at this and they were his comments more than mine but i think he is right in a lot of ways by the look of things this school has had the money to buy planes in the past so what has changed apart from they can now get them for free without using a government budget

No flames from this juncture for sure.
Most of those planes you see there were bought and paid for by the instructor out of his own pocket.
As a matter of fact he didn't even ask for any help. I selected him!
I was kind of put on his trail by another member of this forum who has been interacting with the teacher in a building environment.
There's really too much information of a personal nature to get into all of it, but suffice to say, I would normally agree with you.
In this case however, I feel the overriding benefit is to the ten or so students in the class.
It was interesting as I was speaking with a builder in California, this morning who had gotten a young person interested in model flying at a young age.
That youngster, today, has obtained the staus of being a pilot of one of the 30-40 AWACS currently in active service.
And also more importantly, is the relief of the financial burden on a dedicated teacher.
I guess it all boils down to the old adage about walking a mile in someone elses moccasins.
But I'll have to say, your point is well taken.
Unfortunately you and I don't get to budget the schools money so I just try to help where I can.
Thanks.

Actually he is paying it forward as the thread is suppose to do. There is no rule that dictates how, what, when but only why.

In one sense I do agree as I would like to see a starting young pilot get what is offered here, BUT lets take it one step further and if we cannot help our schools then those young people will never become starting young pilots. Assuming you have a class of 15 students, if you get one interested in the hobby then you did good

Go to Nasa's web page and start digging around, especially the astronaut backgrounds and you will find that many of them started back in elementary school building rubber band powered stuff and moved up to where they are now and I'll bet you would find the odd one still flying models to relax with.
