why not try building a plane that is literally indistructable and use it to mid-air other planes that become a threat to your personal saftey or airspace?

Hello All,
I am in the middle of setting up a radio control plane project at my local Civil Air Patrol squadron. We have about 15 cadets from 12 to 18 yrs of age who will be participating. Horrizon Hobbies was kind enough to donate a H9 Alpha 60 trainer. It's a beautiful airplane and the cadets were overjoyed when they saw it. They were able to assemble it at last week's meeting. The only hang up now is that we still have no Radio or Engine. So if anybody has a:
- a .60ish engine
- 4 ch JR radio setup (so that it is compatible with my JR transmitter for buddy box)
- misc field equipment
The squadron is on limited funds, so any donation would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!
-Matt

Hello All,
I am located in Jeffersonville, IN and am working with a foster care community in this area. This community is located on 90 acres and the director of the program has given me permission to work with some of the kids and teach them the hobby. I have had a few show a lot of ineterest!! The reason for my post is I am looking for a 40 size trainer for these kids to use (the one I had took a nose dive while flying with the kids [X(] ) I have most everything else that is needed to get it airborn. If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated!
I know there has been some discussion on this board about people abusing it.... So if someone has a trainer and would like to donate it to these kids I can get the director of the program to verify that it will be used for the kids, if you want!
Any and all help will go a long way.
Thanks in advance!

I just came across this post tonight. I really like what everone has done. Here's my story. I'm in college and have no money. When you're studying to be an engineer, you have no spare time to work. I'll have money one day, bit for now I'm pretty much destitute. I have a request and an offer. Bubbagates, do you still have a spare battery pack? I thought I'd try to save money and build my own. I found out that my Futaba servo's don't like the NiMh batteries that I used for the pack. Apparently I was supposed to use Nicads. I could buy a new battery pack, but I won't have the money for a few months and I'm almost done with the kit that I need it for. Here's the offer. I have a .40 Shrike. There is no engine or radio gear. I've flown it and it flys great, but it turns out that I don't really like the speed planes. The plane is pretty beat up, but if you put an engine and radio gear in it, it will fly and fly fast. I'm willing to give this plane to someone who is in honest need of it and is willing to either pay for the shipping or pick it up.

6v is 6v regardless what type of battery it comes from. the metal hydride part is not your problem. either too many volts, too few, interference etc or maybe even a bad pack.

That's what I thought, too. But, a guy in our club told me that you can only use NiCads on certain Futaba servos. Anyone else have info on this?

that it untrue. as long as you produced 4.8 volts-6 volts DC, you could run them off fart power if you wanted to.

I am looking to get hold of some 3 servo extensions 16 inch or 24 inch 14 are too small and 1 Y harness. I know these things are not an expensive item but i just cannot affored the as i have had to buy more books and pay tuition for school. I know some may think books are not expensive but mine are as they cost me $227.69. as i have said before i don't have much to give anyone but i work for a volunteer fire dept as a firefighter/EMT so i guess this is one way to give something back to some people when they need help most. why do education text books cost so much?

they charge so much because the teachers dont have to pay for them so the most popular ones jack up the price becasue they know the teacherwill choose it anyway. it's not the teachers problem. i dont have any spare plugs but i have some servo wire i could send if you can get the plugs.

That guy is not accquainted with Ohm's Law then. And BTW....shipping would be too much to be worthwhile......would cost 10.00 to get a thing you can get from Futaba for $9.96 (harness for 4 AA dry cells) so I didn't forget you. bud! *G*

If anyone has a .40 or .60 sport plane kit that they are out of hiding places for, I would really like one. I know this thread is suppose to be free but I could pay for one if you would take payments. I have a trainer and I want to build another plane. For me 3/4 of the fun is in the building of a kit.
Thank you,
Brad

I am still looking for an engine and radio for my kids scratch built SIG Kadet. It will have ailerons, so I need at least a four channel. I have just gone back to school to persue my degree in aviation management. As an A&P mechanic I realize we need some quality managers.
My kids are pestering me to get this plane finished. Any help would be great.
Thanks,
Semper Fi,
Adam
