Mike,

That is way good to hear . Although there was a problem it still ended on a fairly good note. Actually it sounds like a not so good day at the field for anyone. Feels good watching the baby fly, didn't it?

I bet the M was a Moki and a 1.3 size in a Funtana would be a kit butt. Funtana I also hope it was the yellow one with transparent blue under the wings and tail section which made it the Hangar Nine Funtana90. A Moki in the 40 size would rip the wings off of it

I own one with an OS120 Surpass w/pump turning a 16X4W APC and it kicks butt.

HELLO THREAD
J3FAN HERE and for the last time.
My chosen recipient for a TRAINING PLANE has just now received his package through FEDEX from TOWER HOBBIES. The plane is the TOWER HOBBIES TRAINER RTF
The young man SAMOLOT is now ready to start his venture into RC FLYING.
In addition to sending him everything he needs I have contacted his local club (STATEN ISLAND RC) through the President Mr. Tom Abate, and also their Instructor, Mr. Vinny Sisto, who now promise me they will pay particular attention to this 16year old young man to insure that he gets the best possible training and help.
My best hope would have been to train him myself, but the COMMUTE (Houston-NewYork) is a bit too long.
I have done my part.
May this THREAD CONTINUE FOREVER.
PAID FORWARD
GoodBye

Ok......Ok.....Step right up ladies and germs......I have two motor to go to loving homes......one is a OS .40 FP and the other is a Magnum .40......both run and are in good shape with mufflers and prop nuts/washers. If you are interested in either motor then PM me and tell me why I should give it to you for the cost of the shipping. Do NOT send me a one line response saying, 'cause I need it' or some such. To those people I have the following advice: Hold your breath....I'll get back to you. This is serious and I will do this......do your part and you'll have your motor.

Very nice work, Rick!!! This is exactly how it should be done. Rick thought things out completely and provided the young man a fine plane (and succeeded even after the shipping problem came up!). He then followed through by talking to the club president and getting the young man scheduled for lessons. Rick, I know that you are on a fixed income and how much this gift really means. You have a big heart and it shows. A VERY, VERY big well done!!!!!

later!

FOR THOSE WHO ARE""TECHNICALLY INTERESTED"" IN HOW THIS "PAY IT FORWARD" ACTUALLY INSPIRES A PERSON TO PARTICIPATE.
About two years ago, I J3FAN, made an entry in one of the U/C line control forums asking if there would be a chance of buying somebody's RTF model. I was interested because I missed out the U/C times when I was a teenager a long long time ago.
Pretty soon the UPS brown truck showed up at the LHS where I worked and delivered a high quality custom built box with the RINGMASTER totally built and RTF inside.
THAT was the starting point for the PAY IT FORWARD that today has benefited a 16 year old boy who would never be able to do RC.
As y'all can see, IN THE PREVIOUS POST , now the Originator and Original Good Guy, MEL DUVAL of Freeport FLA , congratulates me for a job well done.
THANK YOU MEL DUVAL
You are really my BEST FRIEND NOW.
RICK

Hi

I'm new here at RCU, but now I'm on here all the time. I have to say I love the concept here. Heres my deal. I'm building a 1/2A trainer, and surprisingly even have support from (gasp) my wife, who thinks its a great idea that I scratch build an airplane. So I've got my wood, still have to buy my engine and micro servo and that stuff, but I don't know what other kind of stuff I need. I have an old Multiplex Comander radio that I think works, so I figure I'l use that. I just think that after I get my engine and servos that I'm going to pretty much tapped. If somone has that other "feild box" type stuff they wouldnt mind parting with on the right cheap that would be cool. I've never had a chance to get into the plane thing as I've never had the money, and my parents were not a wealth of help either. So its nice to see somthing like this wgere people are trying to help out.

Hi all,

Just a quick update here. Bubbagates was kind enough to donate a Real Flight G2 simulator to my Civil Air Patrol cadets. Last night was our weekly meeting and I was able to show the cadets how to work the sim. They were very excited and thankful for the sim. I set a 3-crash limit for each cadet. For the most part that worked out well and everyone got multiple attempts at the sim. This should make my job as instructor a LOT easier when it comes to flying the real model!

Thanks again Bill for the generosity and for starting this thread!

Matt,
You bring back fond memories.
I was a CAP cadet back in the late 50's at Chanute AFB, in Illinois.
We were lucky enough to meet on base and had access to a LINK(? SP) trainer.
Covered entity which 'was like a real' airplane.
A simulator we sat in and worked.
The newer versions are a whole lot easier! :-)
Sure am glad you are able to do that good work.

Ok guys I need your help. I am in need of a few things to get me back in the air I do not have much money and have been going through a rough time. I need the following items to get me in the air 2 standard futaba bb servo's, a switch and a futaba 7 channel receiver. I spent the last of my money on 2 servo's new in box from a guy that runs what is like a hobby shop from his basement and when i tested them they and found that on one the gears sound bad (sounds like gravel inside it) the other will not turn easy by hand and when plugged in nothing happens except for the motor spinning. I told the guy and he will not replace them and said i need to take it up with hitec not him. I do not like to ask but i have no option and i feel bad about it. I am an EMT/firefighter for a volunteer fire dept. and also i am a paramedic student full time at college if anyone has doubts im sure bubbagates will verify my circumstances

Hi Paul,
If the servos are Hitec, just return them to Hitec with a note on what happened with the name of the shop. Hitec has outstanding customer service and I am sure they will make it right.
later,
Mel D.

the servo's were HS 255bb's I know they were small but it was all i could get or afford to put in the four star i was going to have to modify the servo tray to make them fit but they had enough torque. now i know how it feels to be sucker punched

Gee, I feel bad "demanding" stuff, but

all I really need is an electric starter, a 12v battery, and a charger...

This is quite a nice thread!

(Time to pester the Car Forum to have one!)

Ok, I would like to interject something here....

I have said this before and I will say it again....

Please, Please. PLEASE DO NOT take advantage of this thread! This is for people who are in NEED of things they MUST HAVE in order to fly, and cannot afford them.

For example:

Yub Yub,

an electric starter is not a necessity. An engine can be started without an electric starter, and it's one of those items that other fliers at your field will gladly loan you for the few seconds you'd need it.

The PIF thread is intended to help people who have a serious lack of funds to get airborne, NOT to fill up someone's hangar. Please do your hoarding elsewhere.

Minn,

Thanks a bunch for your input. All I have to add is to please read the very first post which I quote below. This thread is a very good one and has become a very important part of my life. It makes me feel good knowing that there still is decent people out there and I get the warm and fuzzies when I find out of the good this thread provides.

ORIGINAL: bubbagates

Since the movie was Pay it forward and that has basically become the theme of the Freebie thing Razor started, lets use this thread for that purpose.

I would like to suggest that the link to this thread be passed on so this thing can do what it's designed for and that is to get as many people involved as possible

The only rule is that you need to give back to someone that has a need or flat out just needs help in the hobby. If getting some of these free items helps you get a trainer completed so you can train newbies, are a newbie (young and not so young) that really needs things that they cannot afford, etc...

Please do not ask the person that is offering an item or items for them if it just because you want it and don't have it yet. Please let the person doing the offering decide what, and how and who and do not flame, trash, or otherwise downplay their generosity. If you ask for something please follow through. Use "PM" to talk in private about any deal for something that is being offered.

The person that is giving an item has the sole discression as to who gets it. There is no "panel" or "group" that makes that decision

Here is a suggested way to handle this but it is not "set in stone" or is the "required way". Good judgement is the key.

If you are looking for an item, place a post asking if anyone has it
If you have the item and wish to give it to the person asking, then PM the person, get a conversation going and then make the decision yourself if or if not you feel the person deserves the item.

If you have an item or items you wish to give away:

Place a post of the item(s) and be as thorough as you can about the item
If you see an item that has been posted and wish to acquire it, then PM the person that is giving it away and get a conversation going.[/b]

I wish to make it well known that RC Universe (RCU) has graciously allowed this post to be pinned permanetly to the top of the beginners thread and I thank them [sm=thumbup.gif] along with the excellent start that Razor did with him giving away the first item in another thread, thank you very much Razor, well done and way too coo!!!!

We can now accept donations. You may send a donation using Paypal to pif @ rcuniverse.com
