Four star build

Post #74 shows what I would call a vertical servo install and is the way you did it. You just made the plate too big. It can be done the other way (horiz) but I believe this is easier to do. If you are asking "Why not turn them 90 sideways in the plate?", This way gives better leverage without the servo "rocking" in it's mount. Otherwise it could be done to the best of my knowledge.
If you decide to work on the old wing, be advised that MinnFlyer is working on a drawing for you to show how to repair a spar. It is a spar, stringers go in a fuselage. It's one of those "thingy" things.
Yep, ya killed some foam alright.[:@]

form experience......extrenal pods made from pvc work better. 4 medium size(like a's or b's) make neat low level....well basiclay model cruise missles. you need ALOT of room though

Thanks bruce, I will look at that. I got out there today and sheeted the turtle deck and covered the vert stab... I don't think i did it how i was supposed to, but it is ok...
About the rockets, we used b's and c's. Thanks for the PVC idea. I will tell my friend. We are riding bikes to the dollar general thursday to get some more planes....

theyll glid if you make the motor ejectable......go with two b's and a launch ramp. use the chute deployment charge to eject the spent motor. be VERY careful though. if you hurt yourself its not my fault!!!!

We don't care for them to glide, we just like to see'em go fast.
Today we launched 2
One good one that went in the other yard right at take off and the other one did circles and finnially went to the ground almost on fire:-)
We found the one from yeserday, because we put experiment and then our phone to call if found... The people who found were VERY into aviation so it was quite awsome.

I know that if you lived around here and were shooting things into the sky that came down in flames there would be some people taking notice. I know that I wouldn't want a flaming foam plane landing on my house. Chad, sorry if this sounds mean, but you are just being irresponsible doing this. How would you feel if you burned somebody's house down?? If somebody died in that house fire??
At least you are putting your name in the planes so the police, FBI, and Homeland Security know where to find you. If I were you guys I'd give this one up.

Sorry Guys, I was away for a few days.
Ok Chad, your wing can be saved, but you just might be better off getting a new wing kit.
One reason for this is that the spar you broke is very important and you broke it near the wing root which is the most critical area. You could fix it, but it will require removing the center sheeting. So before I go into great detail as to how to fix it, let me know if you want to bother, or if you just plan on getting a new wing kit.
Secondly, you MUST be more careful with your building. I see a few areas that look kind of sloppy (Like the forward/center sheeting where it meets the main Spar)
At this point, I recommend sticking with the original single servo method, but if you MUST make that two servo mod, Get some 1/8" ply from the Hobby Shop, and make it go inside of ONE servo bay.
A lot of the problem you're having is due to the fact that you're trying to build beyond your building skills. Don't assume that any old method will work.
Case in point - you cut a chunk out of the edge of a few ribs for the servo wire to go through. BAD MOVE! What you SHOULD have done was to cut a hole in the ribs and leave the edges alone.
So Let us know what you plan to do, and we'll work with you accordingly.

Guys,
About the foam planes, They only flame up if they don't work and when they don't work correctly they don't go far at all.
Anyways about the wing, Minn,I would love to be able to salvage it somehow. 40 bucks is ALOT for me right now. Can you explain the conqequences of leavng that rib out and not replacing it? Also, i was thinking about re sheeting it and now i am if i salvage it, so i guess that is a thing too. And I would like to do dual aileron servos
Thanks for the help and sorry for the misunderstanding about the rockets, We were just about to switch to C02 engines instead because they were less flammable and a guy reccomended them.

Ok, don't worry about the ribs - that's the least of your problems.
As far as the servo tray goes, just leave everything the way it is.
But as for that spar, you will need to glue a piece of the same size into the gap, and then add a second piece that is AT LEAST twice the length to the top side of it (The side away from the covering) You'll need to remove some of the center sheeting so you can clamp it to the spar, and you'll need to cut out a slot in the two ribs for it.

Ah, Minnflyer. The Oracle of Flying?? He is like a God to those of us here on RCU. We must all bow at his feet and pledge our first built planes to him!!!

Ok Minn. Was that good enough??? Do I get paid now?
Seriously now. Minnflyer is a professional graphics artist. I know that he does a lot of his work in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.
