I downloaded the manual for that radio from Futaba's website here : [link]http://www.futaba-rc.com/manuals/6exas-manual.pdf[/link] . I read through the instructions and it doesn't appear that this radio has a built in timer on it.

A timer and a piece of velcro!!!!

Seriously. You can get a countdown timer in the baking section at Walmart. Put a piece of velcro on the back of the timer and one on the radio. Now you have a countdown timer on your radio. And no, not trying to be funny. This is what I do for my radios that don't have a timer.

Here's a timer that several guys in our club use:
http://www.talkingtimer.com/
It tells you, at 1 minute intervals, how much time is left.

Very cool. That's even better than what I use because you don't have to take your eye off of the plane to see how much time is left!!! Thanks

Golly Ken, I didn't know your planes lasted long enough to need a timer.

I have had a bad year at that. I'll tell you what, the whole reveresed elevators came from that dang Long Ez and it's canard. On a canard the throw of the elevators is "Bass Ackwards" from the rest of the world, ever since then...... well, you know!!

Just having a bad year. It all started with that dang mid-air with the helicopter this spring. [:'(]

A lot of the guys I fly with have radios with timers on them, but they choose not to use them. Is it a hassle, or unreliable to use the timer on the tx? I always wonder about that, because I was looking forward to getting a radio with a timer.

I have a whole gaggle of radios that I use to fly my planes with, but only one of them has a timer on it (Airtronics RD 6000). I only wish all of my radios had it on them, the rest I use the baking timer on. I have never had an ounce of problems with the timer that is built into the radio on the RD 6000. I know of a lot of pilots that don't use timers. I have never understood why they don't want to use them, but for whatever reason they prefer to fly without them. I guess it's as the saying goes "to each his own", and "different strokes, for different folks", and yada yada yada. You get the idea!!!

My Futaba 7UAFS has a count up timer that is always on screen. It can be zeroed at any time by simply pressing 2 buttons at the same time. I usually do this as I taxi out. This way I know how long I have been running on a given tank of fuel as opposed to time remaining. Works well for me and very convenient.

There is not a timer function.
There are a lot of substitutes but the best is to do some flying and land.
DO not try to get the last drop run through the engine.
