If you buy a 2.4 ghz radio by itself, should the radio or the receiver (which would be purchased later) come with the bind plug?
Thanks

Rtice,
It depends on the radio. Not all of them use bind plugs. The Futaba and Airtronics radios have a button on the receivers that you push to bind the receiver to the transmitter. But for the JR radios that do need a bind plug, yes they come with the radio. Every JR/Spektrum receiver you buy will also come with a bind plug as well.

The bind plug on the Spektrum is no big deal. All it does is grounds the signal lead.
You can make one from a servo lead by connecting the yellow (or orange) wire to the black. If you cut the lead to do this make sure the red (+ve) lead is insulated.

Try and make sure that your kit is complete ie the bind plug. I bought a spektrum radio a couple of months ago and the kit was picked apart so they could mix and match other kits. There was no bind plug in there when I got home. There was no charger for the batterty either. It meant a trip back to the hobby store for me. Yea they gave me what I needed but they didn't really care that I had to make a 2nd trip. You know, no time out if their day so who cares. I try and go to a different hobby store now but sometimes they are the only ones who have what I need... so.

Thanks, Redback. My head just exploded, so I've leave that sort of tinkering to the experts. :-)
Yes, Mike, that is what I am trying to avoid. Glad it worked out.

Umm... I don't recall a bind plug coming with my Spektrum RX when I bought additional RX's. Unless it's still in the box and I didn't notice it. I will have to take a look. I connected my bind plug to the carrying handle on the TX using a tie-wrap. Wherever the TX goes, so does the bind plug.
But, as mentioned, it's easy as pie to make your own bind plug by simply connecting the black (brown for Spektrum) to the blue (airtronics connector) or yellow (Futaba) or orange (Spektrum/JR). It simply shorts the signal to ground to indicate to the RX that this is a binding process.

CG,
The bind plugs are hard to find. I bet I threw away 4 or 5 of them before I found out where they are. You have to go underneath the cardboard. It's in there, it's in all of them. Pull the cardboard out of the plastic box, take the rx out, and then open up the cardboard....

Spektrum air rx's use binding plugs. There are two different types of binding plugs. One goes into a charge port, and the other goes into a channel on the rx. The charge port is more convenient, but you have to have a three wire switch setup for it to work. Otherwise, you have to use the one that plugs directly into the rx.

They are in there. I promise you, they are hard to find. I'm serious when I say I've thrown at least 4 or 5 of them in the trash before I realized where they were in the packaging.
Look and you will find them. If you just pull out the rx and instructions, you will end up throwing the bind plug in the trash. You have to tear the cardboard apart (literally) to find them.

I recently bought an AR6200 and AR7000, and both had bind plugs. The 6200 had the one that plugs into the reciever, and the 700 had one that plugs into the reciever, one that plugs into the charge lead, and something that looks like a clip. Not sure what that is for other than possible fixing to the radio or plane for safe keeping of the bind plug. One also came with my DX7 radio that came with the AR6100.
So I have four bind plugs, and only really need one.

I've thrown some away, lost some, and who knows what happened to the others.
I, too, would love to know what that little clip is for, and how to use it. If anyone has any idea, please share...
