A friend of mine got a new Genesis for Christmas and they have made quite a few changes since the truck was first released. So far he has had nothing but good things to say. After reading some of the comments online he was little hesitant to get the truck but after running it he is happy he got the truck. After watching the truck I think he needs to put thicker fluid in the center differential but besides that its all good.

We got one of these new trucks for christmas and love the truck. We would like to know how we could slow it down some so my son could drive it. We have it all tuned up but when my son drives it he does not have good trottle control and just flips it on its back. Whats the best way to reduce some power but still keep the engine running good? Please let me know. By the way great truck!!!!

Jillhand,

There are a few ways that you can re-duce initial power from the GENESIS 46. You can richen the bottom end needle. I would start with 1/4 turn increments. This will mellow the truck out for you. Try start your son out with driving in open areas such as grass fields etc. I would try to keep him off the streets for the begining.

Thanks for your interest in CEN RACING products.

I will give that a try. We were looking at some of the hop up parts offered by New Era Models and Hardcore Racing and were thinking about getting some aluminum parts for the truck. I was pleased to see there is allot of after market support for your truck.

Personally I would stick with the Genesis, I love the way it looks and there seems to be a trend starting towards .46 size engines( the new savage is a .46). Its up to you though, the Genesis certainly appears to be a high maintenance project, just depends whether you can put up with all the hassle or not. If you do decide on a different truck, my alternative would be the GS SUT pro. That looks the business. Anyway good luck with whatever you decide.

The Savage 46 actually has a .28 engine, not a .46. It's basically the same truck as the Savage SS except for the bigger engine and a few upgrade parts. Parts will be just as easy to get as all the Savage, which is pretty easy. The Savage .46 should preform just as good as the as the other Savages....probably better. I was going to get a Genesis last summer, but because the CEN company is such a joke and handled the Genesis release so poorly, I bought a Savage SS instead and was not disappointed. I think CEN is run by a bunch of high schoolers. Their marketing and Web site are laughable....no really, they make me laugh. I'm not totally anti-CEN. I have a CEN Wave Shark and I'm very happy with it. I was really looking forward to the Genesis release for months and CEN let me down....hard!

You are pulling the pull start in the wrong way or pulling it
to far out.

the frist problem I had with the roto start was rite out of the box put a batt in it and pressed the botton and it sounded terrible, grinding. I took it apart there was no grease bone dry put some in and dang 12 screws or so later and it was much better. I've had my share of other problems but with new eletronics and servo and some linkage changes it was running really, really good last night seems like a good truck just no quality control at the factory someone said it good in here somewhere that they are being put together in china with almost slave labor so what can be expected. If you paid me in rice I wouldn't care either. So far I thick it's wickedly fast, lauches, flys, and land's well. I think with better tire's it'll corner better it was doin OK last night but could be better for me anyway. well that's my $0.02

benifur,

Its not recommended to use the roto starter before doing the break-in,best to
use is the pull start!

I have been pulling the pull start straight out the side and less than 12 inches, This isn't my first truck, but it is the only one I have had this problem with. A friend of mine told me to pull the one way off and soak it in IPA (alcohol), some of the unburned fuel may have leaked out of the exhaust and dripped inside the pull start and is causing it to slip or a piece of dirt might have become lodged in the one-way so I am trying this. The question that comes to my mine is, Does the new engine have to much compression for the one-way and maybe it will be ok after I run it a few times?

From what I have read yes it does have alot of compression. If you were to losen the glow plug a bit it should make starting easier, the glow plug can be re-tightened after the motor starts. If you do this it will spit fuel every where.
After the motor breaks in it will be easier to start.

definately use the pull start for break in. It will get easier to start once it breaks in.

I have a First Run Genesis.. I am NOT new to RC... and one thing I have learned..
check all the screws, and make sure they are tight. I even check after a good day of running..
I've had My motor mount screws come loose. and then the gears don't mesh right,
next thing it's time to go to the hobby shop.

I've had absolutly No Problems with the truck.
from what I've heard... I'm the lucky one... I did install a roto start..
but it's only because I have it on my other RC cars... so, it was only the gears and housing I needed..

If you need parts.. Try Ebay.. you can find parts from the Engine for $150. to the Trans for about $55..
side rails, suspension arms, Shocks, shock towers.. you name it's on there...

if you think the steering sux... try adjusting the servo-saver.. I also upgraded my Steering servo to a 20kg..
I moved the 10kg steering servo and made it my throttle/Brake Servo.. For better braking.

for break-in you need to loosen the glow-plug to start it.. once it's started... tighten it up..
All-in-all.. I have a blast with "THE BEAST"

What servo are you using for the steering?? 20kg seems rather high for a standard size servo, my 1/4 scale Hitec 5745 only pulls 17kg i think.
