i dont know if anyone else has had this happen, but when i hit 2nd gear the truck violently steers to the left. cen said to wrap the outdrive bearings in teflon tape because they get packed with dirt. no joy. still goes to the left. any help would be greatly appreciated.

i am guessing from the weight of the truck and the snap of engaging into second it just throws the left wheel up have you tried stiffening the rear shocks... did you upgrade the steering servo

you need a chamber guage, its the angle that the tires sit on the ground.here is a pic of the nemesis and look at the angle of the tires, they are pointed out a few deg.for any large truck with a high powerd motor the chamer guage is your best friend.

Jombo,
So are you suggesting a few degrees of toe-out on the front?
I have read 3 deg toe-out on the rear will help the torque steer.

sorry guys i forgot to say but mine are set at 2-1/2 degrees toe out /__\ all the way around. world of difference if you want to go straight. and to answer the other question of a broken outdrive anything , on these trucks with a center diff if one outdrive fails its dead in the dirt, unless you have the center diff locked then you could possibly have front or rear wheel drive.

I broke my front left outdrive and the truck was still very driveable, that's why I didn't notice it. Just kept wondering why it steers hard to the right when shifting...

Id image it must be locked, as when one of my rear outdrives broke it would just about move with an open centre diff.
It took a while to work out as nothing looked wrong with it. It was only when I rotated one wheel at a time and looked for the transmission turning, that I worked out what was wrong.[&:]
So I am not surprised it has taken a while for you to detect it especially with a locked diff.

I started having this problem as well, and yesterday it happened again. I keep breaking the GS201 (14 tooth bevel gear for the diff outdrive) this is the third one in 3 tanks. When it breaks it stays in place so things seem to be ok on the surface, if you pull on the outdrive a little youll see that it pulls out just a little. I ve never had any internal diff problems until now and having to completely rip into it when it happens takes a lot of time. I upgraded my genny diffs to the aluminum cased diffs with those massive GSS10 shafts and drive cups only to develop this as an achilles heel. Anyone else breaking this bevel gear?

Front

Rear
(Above eg is for both front and rear with toe out).
And probably best to have it on the ground.
