Hi Bear, I can totally sympathisewith how you are feeling, my GST isn't broken, I just still don't have any radio controls to run the dam thing[:@] I recieved it from CEN direct 3 weeks ago, but it came with dud controls, so they are replacing them, they thought I'd have them early last week, but alas, nope! I started running it in with a mates controls, but that only lasted for 2 days, and about 3/4 of the run in procedure, and since then it (GST) just sits on the shelf looking big and tough.
So I really know how frustrating it is, having this new truck, (my first nitro actually) and not being able to even use it
Good luck with getting yours going, I hope it is up and going and ripping stuff up real soon and mine too

Yes this is my first nitro truck, and I am a bit nervous about it all. Mainly about doing the tuning and getting it running right. I have just recently witnessed a couple of nitro owners totally loosing the plot with their nitro rigs because they just couldn't get them running right, stalling and 'flaming out' I think the term is. So it has now made me wonder if I'll be able to do it if they can't, I mean they're guys and they're use to tuning real cars and stuff, then there's little ol' me, mere female, no experience in nitro RC cars, truck etc. Don't get me wrong, I am 'some what' mechanically minded, (real cars and motorbikes) so the thing is, I'm not as worried about the maintanence and repairs side, as I am about the tuning side. I just hope with the help of you guys on the forum, that I'll be able to do it

I have had this truck for a month and have not even gotten a full tank through it yet. Please someone help me here. I bought one of these trucks cause there highly talked about but Im not having a very good experience so far.

Bearster, what exactly has happened?? Did the pin shear or is the OWB? And can you get pics of the damage and post them up here. there has to be a problem somewhere in the starter system. We can get this resolved just need more info.. Also if this is the Pull Start are you actually taking up the slack when you begin to tug on the pull cord. in other words are giving it getle pulls until you feel resistence on the motor(its called preloading the pull starter) then giving it a sharp short pull?? I know that seem like a dumb question but you ould be suprised at how many dont knw to do that...
Let me know on the damage and pics!!

Dogman,
Sorry but I dont have a digi camera yet. The first time it did this the start pin spring collapsed so I replaced both the pin and its spring. I havent taken it apart yet to determine the damage this time but its got the same feel as the spring-pin failure did. The pin never sheared at all the spring just collapsed. I'll talk it apart soon and see what I can find again. I do gently take the slack out of the pull start before I give it a go too.

Is there anything I can do here to get this truck running or do I have to just keep throwing parts at it? Since I can pull on the pullstart and not get any resistance again I feel that the spring thats behind the pin isnt strong enough. EDIT* I've pulled the motor apart again and found that the spring has collapsed down to the size of the pin AGAIN. The pin isnt shearing at all as a matter of fact you can kinda feel it try to grab every so often but the spring doesnt push it out hard enough to engage. The only thing I can think of doing is order a new one way start shaft, spring and pin. Aside from that I am out of Ideas? I am a tech at a Dodge dealership and its fair less frustrating than this is LOL LOL LOL...CEN racing? Dogman? NOMOBUX? Some I just need to some insight cause nothign I have done so far has worked. Thanks everyone

I honestly feel that it should be warrantied as defective from the factory. BUT Here in a couple of weeks I prolly order a new start shaft and what not. If that doesnt fix the problem then CEN will be getting it back.

You should've sent it back in the first place buddy,it's all very well saying that people concentrate on what should be instesd of what is.Thats bollox,I think if someone bought a 1:1 car and the clutch went after a tank of gas, they would'nt say,oh I'll buy the clutch and not get it repaired on warranty. That dog just wont hunt.We know how much Dogman loves CEN,but every company should feel obliged to put the customer first,if they're not going to repair it on warranty then ask Dogman to do it seeing he was so up for replacing your one way bearing when it was thought that was the problem
Bottom line, for the amount of grief and lack of use you've had from it from new,it should've been done on warranty, period. No questions asked, this is exactly why I said it earlier on in the thread because not everyone has bottomless pockets full of money to fix a truck that should run from the box without any hassles like this,ok the dodgy tuning you can expect but premature component failure,no no no,these trucks retail for £460 thats around $900+ in the UK and that just would'nt do.This is exactly the type of thing that got CEN such a bad reputation in the UK,if that was a Losi or a Traxass truck over here,it would have been took in,repaired and sent back to you under warranty, the problem you have now with trying to repair it yourself is a void warranty as CEN could claim you damaged it yourself trying to repair it.As I said,if the aftersales care is sooo good this should've been offered to you way earlier and its not been and to add insult to injury, they have the gaul to ,hook you up with a good price, yeah right[:@].If your not a buggy/truggy racer spending 100's of dollars at a time mate they dont wanna know...End of rant....

Im gonna order this part this week and if it does it again then I think Im gonna sell this truck. I've been patient with it but it shouldnt have so many problems without a full tank of gas gone through it. I'll keep some of you informed on this.

I agree, if it does not fix it this time send it in, CEN will fix it. And to Mr Terminator, the same does not apply to a 1:1 truck, your reaching, buddy!!. Any repair on a brand new 1:1 would be no less than $1000 to fix, A hobby grade rc would be $50 for any median repair,, A HUGE difference. I do Like CEN products and would like to keep the prices low, so any small $$ repair is not worth the money to send it back. And if you cant afford the repair, then maybe you can't afford the hobby. Kinda like the guy that just bought a brand new Corvette, but cant keep up with the expensive insurance!! Now if he had blown his engine under warranty I would say "send it back" but were talking about a $15 consumable part, stop whining and repair it, you'll be back running faster and cheaper. But now that it has been more of a problem, sure he should send it back. CEN will repair it under warranty if he references the threads he has posted his problems in!!
Maybe, just maybe, he didn't diagnose/describe the symptom properyl or even reassemble it properly and actually caused the need for the second repair... But he can still get it repaired, thats how good the warranty is!! Even if I have to back my words and fix it for him.( which I would be more than happy to do!!)
Now, The warranty repair offer by me is still open to you, that is how confident I am you will see satisfaction by contacting CEN..
Oh and BTW, sorry this has been such a pain to you bearster18.

I got a feeling I'll be asking quite a few questions eventually. That's if I ever get any controls for this truck, come on CEN
