The one way bearing that the pullstart uses to catch the shaft so you can start the engine isnt catching the shaft anymore? Im pretty pissed off cause I havent even got one tank of fuel run through this and now I cant even start it due to that bearing. Any suggestions?

G'day Bearster. Just wondering if when you use the pull start if it fells like it's trying to turn the engine over, but slipping, or does it feel like there is no resistance to the pull starter (other than the recoil spring). If you have the latter problem it might be the pin in the back of the crankshaft in the engine (I had this problem a while ago with a fairly new GST 7.7)

I can just sit there all day and try to start it but it just wont catch the crankshaft. It will every once in awhile tho so that has me to believe that the bearing is ALREADY gone. Im pretty pissed about this too but I guess that happens.

Ok found the parts I need now. Turned out to be the one way bearing after all. Now I am trying to install the center lock and the screws are in there so tight that now I have stripped out the screws YAY! This truck has already been a pain in the ass haha. Now I have to drill out the old screws and get news with the diff case.

In order to remove the screw from the diff they need to be heated with a heat gun or torch- in order to de-bond the red thread lock that is used at the factory...
You may still be able to get them loose if you use a dremel cutting wheel and slot the screw head so you can use a bladed screw driver

There is no way that should happen, the OWB I mean if you have'nt even put 1 tank of fuel though it.I know rotostarts are OWB killers but pullstarts snap before the OWB gets knackered, sounds like a manufacturing fault and should be replaced free of charge if CENs customer relations are as legendry as people make out.How about offering a free replacement then CEN,lets see if you can back up the claims of a great customer service.

Yeah the OWB thing really has me upset with the truck thats for sure. I was going to contact CEN racing but I really didnt feel like messing around with that BUT if they read this and they'll warranty the OWB then I am game! So CEN how about it?

LOL if CEN wont warranty that $6-$15 part, I will!! some people get so upset about very inexpensive things. All rc parts are subject to premature failure, no matter what brand!! You wil spend 4-10 times as much in time and shipping that engine back to and forth to CEN to get a commonly worn part that my or may not still be under warranty. I mean, Geeze if you dont like tearing your rig apart to repair it then you should have not got yourself a nitro vehicle.
No need to get upset about a OWB going bad on a Hobby Grade Nitro Monster Truck!! You WILLbe replacing many more during the life of your rig. Besides CEN did ot manufacture the Drawn Cup Roller Clutch(OWB), another manufacturer did, and there is now way for CEN to know which OWB out of thousands will fail!So Call it luck of the draw that you got a faulty unit.
The point here is, it will cost you and CEN less in time and money, to just order the OWB and replace it yourself. And consider the OWB a consumable item on any nitro rig, let alone one that has so much compression!!
Fix it and then enjoy it again!!
Hope this helps.

Good Call Bear!!! Sometimes it just not worth the headache to make such a stink over cheap parts!! Too many are way too willing to get excited over "What Should Be" and not focusing on "What Is"
Much respect Bear!!

Installed new OWB and still I have the same problem. Im really starting to get frustrated now. At this rate I'll never even play with it. I guess I need to call CEN and get this taken care of now.

I take its NOT the OWB after all. Then I would open the back of the engine and see if the small pin that is in the end of the crank has sheared off or the spring collapsed.
Could Be Both!! Also you might want to check to see if the OWB is in backwards(a very easy mistake!!)

Checked the OWB in both directions and still the same thing. I also just pulled the back plate off the motor and found that the little pin doesnt stick out much further than the crankshaft end. So what parts am I gonna have to get now? I really dont want to have to pull my brand new motor completely apart.

I have the part #'s At home. If you can wait I will post them when I get home this evening!! Now what do you mean when you say "Checked the OWB in both directions and still the same thing" Does that mean you tried to spin the OWB both directions and it spins in both directions or does that mean no change? if it spins in both directions then the new OWB is bad, which I would find hard to believe, but anything is possible. There is a slim chance you got 2 bad OWB's in a row, very slim!!

I mean the OWB is good both of them LOL It never was the OWB at all. I took out that pin and spring and it looks like the spring is collapsed cause its about as long as the little pin is. The spring doesnt appear to be broke at all cause I tried my hardest to make sure that I got it out of the crank and that one piece of spring is all that came out. So I guess I gotta order some more parts huh?

Yah sounds like your spring has collapsed it should be quite a bit longer than the pin itself in a free state. Just be sure there isnt another part of the spring still sitting in the end of the crank as nomobux advised. I'll save Dogman some trouble the p/n for the spring and pin is G70357-35, take a look at the picture on the cen direct page (www.cenracingdirect.com) and you will see what the pin and spring should look like. Also note the description is wrong
it should be starter shaft spring, starter shaft pin. If this is the problem that means your original OWB is probably OK make sure you hang on to it as some point you will need it. Good Luck
