My Feedback: (1)
WEDJ, I believe I know exactly how you feel. I'm currently repairing the same type of paint malfunction, although mine happened with dope. Honestly, I have entertained the thought of using my fuselage as a bat and starting over from scratch. You'll get it fixed. Just hang in there.

Well, yea, OK, so I got discouraged and dropped it for a while. After really looking at it, and picking the flakes off, I have noticed that the blue has left some kind of base that the paint peeled off of. Here's the photos, ready for 400 grit wet sanding this week.......

So now I am thinking.....
Do I continue with this Indigo Blue translucent paint, or should I go back, and buy the deep blue which will cover better?
I will say that a call to Klass Cote gave me the info that the indigo is the only paint that they have trouble getting pigment for, it comes liquid, rather than solid, and it is a bit translucent. They were very helpful, and suggested 2 coats.
If I get a different color, I will have to re-shoot the left wing that I have finished. It will add weight, but being the left panel, that will help offset the muffler. Not a bad trade-off.
On the side of continuing with the indigo, I would only have to shoot the body and right wing panel. Maybe it will come out OK
My final decision is to go with the deep blue, which should be opaque solid color. I am too afraid that the body will show the peeled paint line through the following coats.
So a little more work, but guaranteed better results have won out. Originally, I wanted to have this done by the middle of May (HA!) So the new target is July, still enough time to trim out and get some air time in.
Stay tuned, and thanks for all the silent "aw ****s" that I heard out there.

Dark Blue KlassKote arrived on Friday, so this w/e I masked the right wing, and sprayed paint last night.
THE GOOD: It covers great, one coat very opaque
THE BAD: When I masked the pinstripe, it doesn't match the one on the left
THE UGLY: I spilled the first batch of paint mixed all over the floor
I didn't get photos, but will try to tonight. I am very glad I moved away from the indigo.

OK, finally got around to shooting photos. Notice how the new paint covers the bottom so nice and even, with only one coat. On the top, notice the pinstripe is not symmetrical, that will be fixed when I re-shoot the left panel. Behind the wing is the mess of spilled paint.

So I haven't touched it in two weeks. Someone give me a swift kick so I can get going again. I'm worried that sanding the wing will require a re-shoot of the white. Until I get going, I won't know.
I did try to remove that strange clear "base" on the fuselage, but it is stuck fast, thinner won't touch it.

If you leave that sit any longer you will be in my catagory. Hardly ever getting anything done.
It looks great so far so you need to "git her done"

We're in a tough race for the "King" of the projects catagory. My dad's estate house is finally on the market so I'm almost back to normal. I have actually been downstairs the last couple of nights working on a Vic Koenig Dirty Birdy that's been down there for Too Long. Have servos installed and hooking up the controls. I have a Tiger Tail from Eureka somewhere in the mail and that will be next FOR SURE.
Everyone have a happy Forth of July holiday.

Sound like something we should discuss later, tomorrow, next week or sometime.
But I bet we'd have more members than AMA if people were honest.

The weather forecasts for both days look sorta iffy. Which day are we going for Saturday or Sunday?
I could do either at this point.
Let me know.

HEY!
Let's get back on track here. I apologize for procrastination, but just wait.....
Seriously, I got really discouraged about this painting, and was very afraid that when I started to sand, two things would happen:
1 - expoy paint is really hard to sand. This is CORRECT
2 - In sanding off the rough edges, I would sand into the white, requiring massive re-spray. FALSE!
So, for the last hour or so, I have carefully used 400 grit wet, and got the left side edges down smooth. You can see from the photos how it goes. Some shots are before wiping off, some after.
Now I am rejuvinated, and hope to keep going along. Small detour, the GTO Nationals are in Saratoga Springs NY, so me & #1 son Evan will be absent for 5 days.

Second reason for going forward, I want to start my Jr Skylark twin .020 project, but refuse to do so until I finish this one!

OK, went around to the right side. Sand for about an hour, the edges are now feathered out, so I can look at taping and spraying next ???
Notice I went through the white in a few spots, but that's where the blue will go, so all is still cool.
