RE: Classic Pattern Plane Image-base
ORIGINAL: casniffer ORIGINAL: FBaity CAsniffer: Great stuff on your web site. I flew in the ''pattern wars'' out of South Augusta,CSRA field. I was sorry to see that the AugustaMKII image didn't post. The designer and builder of the Augusta, Darrel Kampshor, was a friend and pattern coach. Keep up the good work. Frank Baity AMA 38026 Did you send me an image called AugustaMKII and I missed it maybe? I certainly would not leave out any image on purpose. There are more than 1400 plane images, and several are of the same specimen, so you guys know I would post it if I had it. I would be happy to include any pictures you have. Thanks CAsniffer Frank, Ok, I figured out what happened now. I see the picture in my web design software, but I didn't notice that it wasn't actually on the site. I must have missed uploading the image. Thanks for pointing it out. It's there now. Have a good weekend, everyone! CAsniffer |

Found this pic of my Hanno powered SlingShot (David McFarlane design/kit) built 1992 on the net.
I can only guess it was taken at a recent comp or out at the local club and it's looks like I'm entering into a slow roll judging by the fuselage attitude and the rudder angle. The shot from underneath, landing condition selected with gear down and ailerons deflected downwards acting as flaps. It's the first time I've ever "seen" my plane in the air and have no doubt now I'll build another from scratch as this airframe is getting tired. |
RE: Classic Pattern Plane Image-base
Hi all,
The pictures are not coming as fast as they used to. I harvested many of them from forums and people sent me a lot as well. Not much happening on either front these days. I do have a few to add from the last three months. Aeromaster Bipe(2), Alpha, Anonymous, Aristo Cat, Atlas 1, Aurora 90, Banshee, Beachcomber (3), Blue Angel 40SR, Brushfire (3), Bullet, Bumling, Citron Mark II (2), Corsair Akroknight 45, Duellist, Flea Fli, Illusion, Kwik Fli, Mattlas 40, MK Champion, MK Thunderbird, Nutcracker, Saturn, Saturn SE, Silhouette, Super Lucky Fly, Super Curare, Super Kaos 40, Trion, Uranus. Happy New Year! Thanks CAsniffer |
RE: Classic Pattern Plane Image-base

RE: Classic Pattern Plane Image-base
Hi all,
I hope everyone and their families have a safe, prosperous and classic pattern-filled 2010! I had to create a second page for the "P" planes because the first "P" page was filled up. There is now a P2 page. I had to update all the other pages with navigation links to page P2. A small PITA, but it was going to happen eventually, so now was as good a time as any. I added a few more planes to the image-base: Super Curare, Prather Panther, a pic of a Boxer, a pic of three Boxers, 2 different Contenders, a Dirty Birdy 40. I also updated the Classic Pattern Plane list with 50 or so bits of data and about 15 new planes. If you have any information about any planes in the list, even if its a little history, anecdote, flying characteristic, variant, other manufacturer, whether it was wood or fiberglass...any information that you think would be of use for others, please post it here, send me an email or PM. I have to come up with another way to handle new plane additions to the web site. Maybe 2010 will be the year for that project. Nearly 2400 pictures to manipulate; 1200 thumbnails images and 1200 full size images. I have to do it in such a way so as to keep my website hosting costs as low as possible. I have some ideas, but whatever I choose to do, I have to do it so I don't need any additional services from the hosting service like a back-end database. Thanks again for the image contributions I received in 2009. I hope to see some more. I also have ideas about other pages. One idea is to add a page with classic pattern engines. So, start taking pictures guys. I especially would like to see pics of new period engines. I have about a dozen so far that I've harvested from ebay, RCU and that other RC forum site. Ebay has made it difficult to pull images from auctions, but not impossible. It is a good source for information and it's where I have gotten a considerable amount of the data I have in the [link=http://www.trentonrcflyers.com/pattern/classicpatternlist.htm]Classic Pattern Plane list[/link]. When the time comes, and it may be as soon as two weeks from now, I will post the new classic pattern engine page and may start a new RCU thread to try to get some submissions. Let me know what you guys think. Happy New Year! Thanks! CAsniffer. |
RE: Classic Pattern Plane Image-base
Awesome job CA! (As always!) I (as others probably do) spend too much time looking at the cool pics and don't get enough building done. :D Keep up the outstanding work!

ZHS,
I have since found out that it is a Model Products ARC. It was called a Monarch. I found someone selling a kit on RCU 6-8 months ago. Here is a picture. I sold the Monarch to someone in my club and it met its untimely end. Thanks CAsniffer |

RE: Classic Pattern Plane Image-base
The server on which the classic pattern image base was hosted seems to be down for at least a few days now. Does anyone know what's going on? It would be a pity if this valuable resource was lost to us...

RE: Classic Pattern Plane Image-base
George,
I don't have any problem accessing the image base. Click on the Classic Pattern Plane List a few posts back. There is a link on that page to the image base. David |

Here is a direct link to the site, George.

RE: Classic Pattern Plane Image-base
Bob,
As long as the plane was designed prior to 1990, I will add it to the Classic Pattern site. I'm not picky. PM me and I'll give you another email you can use to send your pictures. Thanks CAsniffer |

Bo,
I don't have any issues reaching trentonrcflyers.com. I'm in the States. I run the site. I'll find out from my hosting service if there is something blocking access from certain international domains or service providers. I had an issue with a few domains in Japan that were scraping data from the website and causing denial-of-service issues. They were blocked. That happened 4-5 months ago. Have you been to the site in the recent past? Thanks CAsniffer |
RE: Classic Pattern Plane Image-base
Hey RFJ I designed the model and the other guy helped me refine it. He won guite a few contest in this part of Texas. There were three of us competing with this mode in 1966. I wrote to the editor of Modell Airplane News and his son was competing in class 1 and he built a model I built 13 model of this plane for other guys . My dad was born on June 19,1909 in Belfast. Left there in 1912 and sailed to Galveston , Texas I made the cover because I was such a good looking Irishman. HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

I was looking for the Sun Ray article. Mike |

I tried the direct link, that didn't work either, unfortunately. I am suffering from Classic Pattern Image Withdrawal Symptom. [&o] Best regards, George |
