Well...I did get my #2 HBKII with stock radio to hover in the basement inverted. I had to re-trim the heck out of it so that tells me I need to work on the setup...but it's do-able. Funny....the setup now hovers and flies good upright. Hit the idleup....all he!! breaks loose till you trim it out. I see I gotta work on BOTH birds too....I tried them both. Inverted....yeah, only from 100ft+ up. Need the recovery time. Something to mull over in your mind. Inverted out of the box???? Give me a break. You could do it but you better have a garbage bag with you to take it home in.

Cltmte: LMAO, on your comment about the tree trunk lol !
Chopper's: I'am the most organized and crazy person on being "neat/clean" !! lol ! even took apart every bolt/piece on my Acura engine waxed em many times! even wax the blades on the heli's (and everything else! -- Everything has to have it's perfect place..If there is a leaf on the ground in my yard....I have to pick it up (nobody looking of course) and get rid of it . I drive myself mad trying to keep everything neat and orderly, and lose sleep over it. Probably why I don't watch T.V. except the news. Need to do something productive. Although this year I've neglected my yard a little...(darn heli's) lol ! Trying to talk my dad in getting that DX7 for his trex 600. He's so new it scares the crap out of me ! he's got right now a Hitec Eclipse 7 FM ( Radio&Reciever) System. Don't know nothing about that myself, but I do know that Crashes stories of glitches makes anyone want to get that Dx7 rather than the above, at least for something of that scale...! Futaba GY401 Gyro w/s9254 digital servo for the tail rotor, is what he got for rear.. Alright have a good evening guys..... Jeff

Yeah, I was able to chuckle a bit when it happened too since I had been through quite a few with the pro. I recommend every new pilot take their bird up and give it a good crash just to get over the anxiety. jk of course, but it sure makes it easier to take when you have been through a few. Just wish I had local support for the HBKII parts. I know shipping is not that expensive and is actually cheaper, probably, than driving accross town to get the part, but I sure like being back up in a day.
I still have anxiety about crashing the T-Rex though. I know it is coming.

Yeah, if I had a TREX it would also be my baby, and would be hard to get er up and going for it !! With the CPP, just using it as a "tool" to advance in the future... Jeff

Eh..........When it rains it pours lol ! [sm=lol.gif] I remember one of you gents, saying back in the beginning of this forum, that if you have to start applying more right rudder than usual, that it is a sure sign your tail motor's going out on ya...I noticed this the last few hover's and well sure enough, it decided to retire ! lol ! I'am not even bummed, I'am more excited that I had the knowledge to realize what was going to happen ! Besides the shaft and the gear back there are "warped" a little anyways, so it assisted in it's failure anyway. That would be might fault, and just the fact they only go for a short run anyway (20) hours I believe. If one lasts once a month it's satisfactory in my books...Well, back to the CX2 for a bit !

Unless to go direct drive or dual drive....tail motor as well as main motor failure are a fact you have to live with.

HELLO EVERYBODY :
haven't been heard of b'coz not been doing much of anything.
But, I am beginning to muck about with the HBK2 and it brings up 2 questions for my B.O.Experts !
-------------------------------------
It seems it needs to be brought up to balance (nose to tail ) with some extra weight.? for this I have used 2 quarters + 1 nickel and a touch of RC56 to anchor them attached to the bottom front end of the canopy...
The weight of the coins is : 16.25 GRAMS ... OR.......-- " .573 oz
Does this sound normal/acceptable to everybody ?>
--------------------------------------
The second time I connected the Battery (ESKY 3cell 1000 mAh standard w/the heli) the green light flickered On and then turned off...? Have I burned up something ?
or does this charger require that the battery be exhausted before it will stay with the charge ?
-------------------------------------
CRASH-CRASH.....[
]...are you REALLY flying INVERTED in the GARAGE ????? .......did you REALLY REALLY manage it before getting good at NOSE-IN ?
if you ARE (really ! ) then I begin to feel that I am a troglodite caveman, when it comes to flying helicopters. I am barely out of hovering YET ......SHEEEEESHHHHH guys :
you know how to mortify an older person......[sm=confused_smile.gif] ........ or is this another one of those "look at my CX-2 flying inverted over my pool table" which we ALL remember ?
haven't been heard of b'coz not been doing much of anything.

#1. Weight...yes, the HBKII is terrible tail heavy...you got it.
#2. Flash green.....yes, this indicates momentary trickle after your charger decides what the status of your battery is....completely normal.
#3. Inverted flight in garage....don't sell yourself short so quickly. I held it inverted in my hand, spooled it, hit the idle up switch and went lowstick to see if I could get it to hover up side down. After messing with the trims...yes, it hoverd inverted out of my hand for a few seconds which verifed many things for me of which #1 is, I'm NOT ready for inverted anything (LOL).

Crash: I think I laugh the most when I read your comments !! You sure can bring a smile to someones face on your responses !
Barrick: Your not a caveman...Your a leader and an inspiration to us all. Yeah Crash went inverted...Video is on you tube, I'll try and post the link for ya. You should've seen it, he's all over the neighborhood goin' ballistic like a ravidged beast !! But no, I'am kidding ! I believe he was just experimenting holding the heli in his hand and trying the inverted thing to see the reaction of the heli, which it sounds like he's glad he did, as it seems set-up was off, compared to what the box said...take care of yourself.....Jeff

Jeff, the cpp is a great tool - at least it was for me. After flying that and getting it under control, the T-Rex just goes where you put it - if you don't overreact. I was able to get to a larger field this weekend and really sling it around and get some really FFF. I also tool it up and really pushed the rudder, it spins like a blender and stops on a dime. Around my house all I can do with it is hover, slow FF and go really high above the trees. Just use that CPP up for what it is worth.
crashcrash - inverted!! inside!!! wow!!! I haven't even thought about inverted.

Cltmte, hey thanks for the info...It's so good to know since I haven't been there yet ! Yeah I can't wait ! I can definately see the CPP as being a money pit however, that's why I'am doing just what you just suggested..I'll be going to California here in the next 2-3 weeks, visiting my dad and all, and it sounds like there might be a TREX 450 waiting for me. I just want to run my finger across his TREX 600 lol ! I can't wait to see the difference and such.. I know I do want to get a HBK2 someday though as it does sound like also a good heli, but the TREX's are my favorite as I've read so much good stuff about them. I don't think I could fly it there such a piece of art in my mind ! Have a good one.... I think I may be moving down to Cali.... Jeff

Moving to CA...my sympathies. T-Rex 450eh? Remember....hovering in the living room is out, too dangerous. HBKII...once you address the engineering shortfalls....man, it just flies. I don't spend a dime on it now....I just fly it every day.

Crash, yeah I've heard good about them HBK2's... I'am glad ya found something that doesn't leave ya scratching yer head every night ! You deserve that...But I miss the remarks you give though from that !!
Incredible job opportunity, so got to go for it, You know, for more upgrades lol ! good evening to ya.... Jeff

just a quick update...
I have to congratulate Spektrum Service for their warranty coverage. If you remember a while back one of the attennae fell off my AR6100 during testing. So I sent it in to Spektrum Service Center. They resoldered the antennae, updated the firmware, and sent the receiver back a few weeks later.
Everything was great, until a few months later it fell off again. I recently sent it back in for warranty repairs. This time the service center sent me a brand new AR6100. All this was covered under warranty with no charge, except for a few dollars to send the receiver in for service

Lookyj: Headed for Santa Margarita by San Luis obispo just north of L.A. but not nearly as congested as L.A. (Thank-goodness lol !) Leaving in about 3 weeks, then see if I like it or not. More of a vacation I suppose, but will most likely make the move few months down the line... (dad lives there) Need better weather for flying lol ! -- Jeff
Edit: 194 miles north of ya/ 3 hours 47 minutes.

Jeff - if there is a 450 waiting on you, you will love it. When you first spool it up though, be aware, it is a different beast and you will know its power by the increased sound. I know I shouldn't but I buzz the old CPP and HBKII fairly close to me. The T-Rex I keep a much safer distance. Just strap on the gear and start slow again. You will be amazed. btw - the HBKII is a no brainer at its cost and flight performance. You get a good bit closer to T-Rex type control over flight than with the CPP and it can still fly in the much smaller spaces allowing more practice time.

Hey guys, great forum! I read the frist 20 pages, then my eyes started to hurt so i skipped a couple, Hurderd pages. any ways, i was wondering which heli would be good after a 4ch faclon 40, i had the faclon 40 i flew about two months, and i learn how to fly it pretty well, hovering it for about 45 seconds about 3ft- 4ft high. it was just screwed up from my frist flights and it was always very glicthly after that, and about 2 weeks ago the sevros wore out, and it is pretty messed up besides that. i think i'm ready a new heli, that has good electronics and is fairly easy to finish learning how to hover(i got a long way go though
) i know you have been asked this alot but, What would be a better heli for a noob, bcp or bcpp?

Personally, save yourself some grief and money...get the HoneyBee King V2 by Esky........serious, I had CP/CPP, they dont hold a candle to the HBKII.

I could be wrong Orion4 but I don't think the Falcon is better than the HBKII. Dave , choppersrule, had one and I don't think it went well. The Falcon is a shaft driven tail instead of a belt and so any time you touch the tail you strip the gears. Orion4 give Dave a PM, he's a great heli guru and loves to help. He has a HBKII now but I don't think he has a Facon anymore.
God bless!

You're right....he got rid of the Falcon. I think Rusty also had bad luck with them.

Orion4,
I've had a ton of helis in the last 2 years. A CX, CX2, CP, CP Pro, Falcon, Raptor G2, Trex450 and HBK2. Jay/ Radioflyer is correct, the falcon being a shaft / conical drive does have a tendency to strip gears when you touch the tail to the ground on a bad / hard landing. Over time, I've sold all of them except for the HBK2. The Trex 450 was a little to much for me, I'm one of the old guys around here and the old eye, hand co-ordination just isn't there anymore.
I find that the HBK2 is a perfect bird for me. It's belt driven and doesn't break like a shaft / conical drive system does. IMHO, I would have to say for a beginner or intermetiate(spelling?). That the HBK2 is the best bang for the buck. The one thing that HAS to be done, is to upgrade to a brushless motor and an ESC. And it would still would be less expensive than a Falcon 3D..
Currently, the only helis I have are two HBK2's and love 'em.
There's only a small difference in size: The falcons main rotor 25 1/2 inches and the HBK2 is 23.64. Not enough to be concerned with.
Here's a couple web sites to check things out. I'm not suggesting to purchase from either one. Just for specs.
Falcon: http://www.hobby-lobby.com/falcon.htm
HBK2: http://www.hobby-estore.com/esky-e01...elicopter.html

That the HBK2 is the best bang for the buck. The one thing that HAS to be done, is to upgrade to a brushless motor and an ESC. And it would still would be less expensive than a Falcon 3D.. Currently, the only helis I have are two HBK2's and love 'em.
There's only a small difference in size: The falcons main rotor 25 1/2 inches and the HBK2 is 23.64. Not enough to be concerned with.
Here's a couple web sites to check things out. I'm not suggesting to purchase from either one. Just for specs.

God bless!
