Jim,
Wow, for an initial damage report, it sure has come to almost major. Main shaft and main gear.. Another tip, I just really started doing this a few weeks ago myself. I should have done it from the begining and only takes a few extra minutes. Do a Pre-Flight inspection before EVERY flight. The head, tail rotor, belt tension and gear mesh are what I look at very closely. Also, any links that may have popped off and check servos for slipping. Then on spool up, check for any vibrations at all, if they are there. Shut 'er down and find out why.
Jeff Michael,
I'm gonna hide the servos right now, Vic has my address.
You sound very confident about Mikey and his where abouts. I'm sure your right. So you get the gold award, I get the silver. LMAO
I knew your full name, but here's mine, bet you can't find me anywhere or my background(phone number but that's all) . David Anthony Joseph Kupkee I was brought up Catholic and the Joseph is my Confirmation name. One more weird thing on my last name, I spent time in the service in Thailand.. Kupkee. Kup in Thai is a word for Sir... Kee is a slang word for *****.. So, I was Sir*****... Don't tell anyone...LMFAO

Best to you on your search for your next heli... Take everything into consideration.
Vic,
I've done alot of research on the EXI 450 and read many reviews and for the price, you're on target. Best bang for the buck..
However, your 2 cents and gonna get ya nothing this day, the economy sucks....
To All,
We are all turning into Chatty Jays, oppps, I mean Chatty Kathys.

Kyle,
As big as the world is, it's pretty small when it comes to people. It's claim that we are just 7 people apart from knowing each other.
My grandparents, came over on a boat, from Germany, in the 1880's. We are all Mutts, from the movie, "Stripes".

Crazy Video, Kyle!
I don't understand what he means by "fixed rotor" he isn't saying fixed pitch, is he? That doesn't make sense.

Here is a response I gave to Soloboss a few days ago as it may help you understand :
What blows me away are the KA-50 BLACK SHARK helicopters designed by a Russian company Kamov... It can also perform loops and rolls, has a co-axial head design with no tail rotor... The crazy thing about it..... It has ejection seats !! YIKES...! The heli jettison's its blades first; then the seat is ejected in a similiar fashion....[X(] Hopefully they won't come up with this idea for our RC-Heli's as I would hate to see 3,000 rpm's from a Trex head shooting out daggers of death in my direction...LMAO..! There's a pic below, but is a crappy one, but you get the idea....
~ Jeff

Broggyr just answered part of your question...... But to add:
I may be able to help with that question... Not because I know, but because I can cheat and read what a 5 page write-up of this heli and pilot have to say in the May 2008 edition of RC-Heli magazine...
First off this guy has 17,000 flight hours logged in as of May at least, and for some of his training was shipped to Germany to learn a bit from Rainer Wilke, Germany's top Air Force test pilot who was already flying aerobatics in the BO-105.
Afterwards, it took him a year and a half to get certified to do aerobatics in a helicopter, from the FAA... No one else was certified at the time, and they had to take it all the way to Washington D.C... I guess he said, they were really 'scratching there heads'...Lol..
Here is one question, in which is similiar to yours on what the author of RC-Heli had asked Chuck:
1. What about this helicopter makes it capable of aerobatics ?
Answer from Chuck :
I got the BO-105 because of the rigid rotor head. You have to have the rigid rotor system if you are going to do aerobatics in a helicopter. If you don't, you have a flapping hinge, or it's a teetering hinge, and either one of those will kill you if you try to do aerobatics. If you get into a negative-G situation, the main blades will flex and come down and chop off the tail in flight. In this business it's not like your radio control helicopters where you can walk away from a crash. This is the real thing, so you can't make any mistakes. I've been fortunate so far. I started with the rigid rotor head system, which this helicopter had, and we took the design from that and built up on that to make it safer for airshows on a regular basis and not overstress the aircraft....
He also states he can't get into flying fast backwards, as the tail would spin around like a windsock. If you go too fast backwards, it's too hard on the tail boom when it flips around and it might snap off the tail boom if you do it too hard.
2. How much negative pitch is available ?
Answer:
It only gets down to "Flat Pitch"
3. Can you give us an idea of the amount of pitch you might use, for instance, at the top of a loop or when you are inverted in a roll ?
Answer:
Usually at that point in the loop it is "Flat Pitch"
He used the Cobra helicopter that he had re-built to get his aerobatic license, but says the Cobra is really limited, though, in the aerobatics it can do compared to the BO-105. The BO-105 can do five times as much as the Cobra...
The thing is literally gutted for ease of maintenance, & keeping it lightweight, and requires 2 to 3 hours of maintenance per flight hour...
Pretty cool stuff !! I still envy Kenn today, as being an actual helicopter pilot, and among that for our military.... A truly awesome experience to be able to accomplish. I bet he can't wait to get out of that dirty hole and back home to his beautiful state of Colorado...
Have a good one,
~ Jeff

Thanks for the explination Jeff. From the sounds of it, it doesn't have negative pitch so he can't hold inverted, just flip it around. I would NOT want to go for a ride with him!
I'm off to Penn State for the day! Not staying for the game (8:00 kickoff time , tickets being scalped for $150 each[X(]) but going to tail gate with the family and some friends. See you all tomorrow.

Week 2 with the HBKII. Wonderful! Finally the wind has eased a bit here. (tough to get a new heli and have the wind so uncooperative that you know you really shouldn't take it up) Put 4 batteries through it this morning and all seems well. I put 1 ounce of lead in the front of the canopy to get it to balance. Is that ok? It sure is larger and faster than the CP+. I'm definitely still a little intimidated but having loads of fun. My little park seems smaller now too since this bird is larger and faster.
One sad thing is that I'm just waiting for the first thing to go wrong. After 9 months with the CP+ I finally knew what to expect and where the weaknesses were. This one is so different, and I'm still so inexperienced, that I just don't know what to look for.
Can anyone tell me what parts I should stock and replace at regular intervals (and what those intervals might be)?
Anyway.. having a ball. Thanks to everyone who recommended the switch to the HBKII.
I am slowly working my way through the HBK Tuner thread so I'm sure I'll get lots of good info there.
Best,
Scott

For further improvement in tail control, I highly recommend E-Sky's 0704A HHG, and replace the stock tail rotor blades with 450 sized (HDX450 or T-Rex work well). I also personally think that the new 7.5 digital servos will prove to be garbage, so I'd start looking at other options quickly. The standard 8g analog by E-Sky are still available...they are all I run...they just work, and they can take a heck of a hit without failing, I recommend keeping a full set of 4 servos as backup minimal. Just my $.02 worth.

Guys,
I think Jay is referring to Chatty Kathy, DUH!
Pulling strings,,, very good Jay!
Kyle,
That guy was awesome, his rolls looked to be almost in slow motion, nerves of steel.. Mine are plastic.

Scott,
Vic has said a mouthful of good information. The HBK2 is a pretty tough bird. Like Vic said, stock up on servos. Also, to save on shipping cost, order some extra blades, 1 main shaft.. Get some 'Super Skids". Don't know what your budget is, but in time it'll be less. LMAO

Just take 'er slow for now. And do a Pre-Flight check before each flight.

RICK IS BACK
Following IKE, twelve days later the ELECTRICITY returned yesterday at 8pm
today the INTERNET came back , also at 8:30pm
here are some pics. of what my situation has been. See my BEAU wondering how to use his bathroom ( my back yard was submerged -
the water level climbed to TWO INCHES short of flooding my house ) God and all my BOB's prayers must have saved my house from
a SECOND FLOODING.
Spent whole day LAUNDRY, GROCERIES, VET. LAUNDRY, etc etc. no time for HELIS, even to RE-Charge batts.
Maybe tomorrow ?
Thank y'all for all your good wishes.
RICK
PS. the photos were taken from INSIDE MY FRONT DOOR, for your better reference. The van is parked on the driveway I use to practice
with the HBK11 that you have seen in the movies I made. Just 1 1/2 inches from coming into the house, that dirty water.....EEEEWWWW
the SLOPE in this neighborhood, which is not plainly visible ever, is shown by the fact that the white trailer seen in the very back of the middle
picture, belongs to the boy pulling the yellow KAYAK, in his house, one block away, there were 2 1/2 feet of water that took 12hours to drain away.
So : talk about me being SO SO LUCKY, (this time )

God Love Ya man, things are starting to look up. Don't worry about the helis, they will come. Get yourself settled back to a normal state with Beau and the house. If you need anything, let me know.. Just PM me.

Jeff Michael,
Give it your best shot.

Have you decided yet, on your next heli. I know you've been doing alot of research. Sounds like your leaning to the SE-V2, good choice and you already have a host of spare parts too. Let us know, when you finally decide on your next venture. I'm stuck right now, with what I have.

Love the Vapor, thanks for kicking me.
Dave or something like that!
