Wheeeeeeee.......... Blade CP!

ORIGINAL: erkrystof
OH Great! I got Jeff in one ear.. 'Don't take those TX's apart' and JPEE in the other 'HEY LOOK IT! BACKLIT TX'S!'... Thanks a lot, you two!
*Sigh*... I am tempted to try it again, though... But oh those ribbon cables are such a pain... Must leave it alone for now. I will try again when I find a used broken DX-7 on the buy/sell/trades.
Well Jeff, as far as the google ads and what not... It was never my intent to have any click-through links or advertisements on the site. The primary reason being is that it annoys me when I see it on a site, so I don't want to do that to mine. The money I put into the equipment, both video hardware and software, as well as the r/c equipment will never be recouped... but that's okay, I do it to keep me busy when work doesn't, and maybe it will help someone. (and by comments and emails, it has, which is *really* nice to hear)
So, I'm one of those long time web developers that is still bitter about the first days of banner ads, and how everybody wanted them on their site, it was the next big thing. It got under my skin big time.
The only two options I've even considered for developing any type of recouping funds (let's not even say the word profit
) is to do two things:
Perhaps have some sort of affiliate link related to a specific product I'm reviewing, fixing, whatever and the site(s) that sell the product. It's not a banner ad, it's more of a kickback thing from the link on my site to go to their site. But I'm not really considering it at the moment because it's such a small site, and with 100 hits a day it's not going to drive it.
The other option which I may look at doing at some point is to take the articles/videos and put them on DVD and/or Blu-Ray and sell them as a package. That way they're free on the website/youtube/video, but if you want to put a few bucks down to get a disc of higher quality versions, there ya go.
That's really about it... Haven't given a lot of thought to how I can recoup any funds or make money with it. It's still so young and I have so much content to produce or recapitulate!

I have had my DX6i apart several times with out any problem. I had one of the trim buttons mess up. Spektrum sent me two new ones which I keep as spares as I got the aluminum ones to put in all the trim buttons as I do not think they will ever break.
Maybe the DX7 is different.

I have a buddy here whos DX6i just broke. The roller switch gave way which is the weak point on that radio. He tried to repair it to no avail. I have to figure that something within the case is broken. Its been so long since I was in my old 6i I dont recall what that part looked like inside. Anyways, he is looking for a broken 6i that perhaps he can rob either for the case or the needed parts.

,
That would be cool to have an engine like that in a heli, it would sound awesome. Hey, that other heli I got was an EXI-T-450SE, for the bucks it really is nice.
One day, I'll get past the hovering stage
. Glad to see ya poppin' in once in awhile. Keep your head up and shoulders back.
Here in the mid-west the weather is cold and windy. No outdoor stuff for this old guy.. I did get the Phoenix Simulator a month or so ago. It's a hoot for sure.
Later guy,
Dave

I put these in mine. Do not think I will have to worry about breaking another trim button.

Eric- Your videos just get better with each release! You've got some serious talent[8D]
Dave- I really like the idea of a backlight on the DX6i, I may try this myself!
46- That looks like a good site for parts!

I like the idea of back lights but if you do that you need to up grade your TX batteries from what I have read. Radio South will install them but they want like $79 for the kit then $50 to install them. [X(]Jim if you decide to do it to your radio please keep us posted. I am still passing the idea around in my head but right now I have too many iron is the fire to think about another one.

GENTLEMEN; " GREETINGS "
With my PC returned less than an hour ago, and working well, here I am full strength and feeling GREAT.
I had promised to send an interesting MOVIE of an Airplane that I never knew existed :
http://www.aircraftowner.com/videos/...plane_658.html
I believe y'all should find it very interesting.
To return:
while I was out of PC service, I have managed to UPDATE, clean, CHARGE UP and setup for flying ALL MY HELICOPTERS.
Truly, there's a bunch of them. When the weather breaks a bit more; in the 70s now, but too windy, I will begin to fly them
all : 1 RAPTOR 30 , two INNOVATORS, (530 + EXP) 3 T-REX - 2 HKB @ + 1 HKBK3 ..... They all seem to be performing OK
have been flying the mSR a lot inside the house, also the BLADE-SR should be coming around mid-FEB, curious to get it
and see how well it goes.
have not kept up with the thread, yet, but plan on reading up again to come back to current.
GREAT TO BE BACK.
RICK
here's one picture of the problem I am working on :

In the next town to me Warner Robins has a Air Force base. Just out side the base on base property there is a BIG museum of aviation and they have a radial steam air plane engine there. It is just the engine. It is one heck of a museum with acres of planes.

One of my too many hobbies is collecting toy live steam engines not locomotives but steam engines most are stationary but some of steam tractors and wagons. I use to have over 175 engines and over 200 of the toys they drive from the late 1800 to present. Now I am down to only about 100 steam engines as I sold some.

Rick,
Welcome back DUDE! I loved the video of the Besler steam engine plane. I was amazed at the end when he reversed the engine and taxied the plane backwards.
Concerning your problem with the motor shaft being to short. You may be able to find a replacement shaft for the E-flite motor, with same diameter, just longer.
Here's an example, it doesn't have to be an E-flite shaft.
http://www.readyheli.com/Scorpion_HK...-2221shaft.htm
Or you could have one made from drill bit stock.
Where's Vic when you need him????
He's okay, I got an e-mail from him, he's just a bit busy with other STUFF.

Dave

Rick Ol' Buddy -
I must have felt your presence on the thread as something urged me to log on and catch up with the BOBs. I think you have officially surpassed my fleet of helicopters.....

Eric,
That is fantastic! You really have the artistic video abilities and narrative voice! That is incredibly professional![8D]
Rick,
I've never seen the steam plane before. It must have had a short range or other technical difficulties to not have been further pursued. From the "sounds" of it, it would have made a great observation aircraft. Maybe the right plane but wrong time.
I hope Oberleutnant Schumkelfarber takes it easy on that British design for the first flights because that Camel is looking great!
Jeff,
Good to see you on.
Jer,
Good to see you back as well.
God Bless Ya BOB's,
Jay

Jer,
Funny how you get a feeling to check in. I do the same. Hope things are going well for ya. I haven't been doing zip with the helis lately. Nothing on the Trex 600 and a once in awhile hover in the basement or garage with the EXI 450. That's about it. I did get the Phoenix Simutlator, that is a wonderful tool.
I have to go out one day, and see if I can find some wood stain that would match the paneling in my basement.

All from blade strikes, what are the odds of the Vapor getting hung up like it did.

Thanks guys, I appreciate the comments greatly, it is what keeps me going.
Love the blade strikes on the walls, Dave, that's man-cave style decor right there!
Welcome back, Rick, good to see you and your computer are both together and feeling good again!!
I'm going to have a nightmare about backlighting my DX-7 again this weekend, I just know it! Like a big DX-7 stalks me down an endless hallway, trying to install a backlight in ME, screaming 'HOW DO YOU LIKE IT WHEN SOMEONE TEARS YOU OPEN AND TRIES TO BACKLIGHT YOU!?!? IT'S YOUR TURN NOW, BOY.' *shudders* I told myself I couldn't justify paying that much for parts and service.. but if you screw your own TX up, you're out way more than that... Bah Humbug!
Take care all

God bless all our service men and woman past and present as they are the real back bone of this country. Too bad the politicians are not as committed as our service people.

WOW!
I have never seen a finer tribute to a plane or a national hero! if you don't feel a sens of admiratin and pride after seeing it, you don't love this country or respect those that fought for what it is.
I've booked marked that one and will watch it again.

I couldn't do those tricks if I tried! It may take more skill to do what he does than some of those precision aerobatic routines.
Jeremy- Hope you have been doing well[8D]
