For anyone interested...and I am considering this hard:
http://www.bladecprepair.com/man_tr_dd_conversion.html
It would be great if I could buy all the components from one place!!!

I thought John Adams article said the GWS DD motor mounts directly to the stock motor holder?

I'm going off my memory of the article, but the impression I got was all you needed was the motor, pro, and heat sink. should just mount right to the stock tail holder. Also, he cut his boom down to 10.75 inches from the stock length. But that was not a direct result from the DD tail mod.

Man...I dunno. Everyone is out of the stuff for Blade CP (just because I want/need it). If you can get it all in one spot, great, otherwise....a small fortune in shipping charges (HOMEY DON"T PLAY THAT). If you're noticing a more agressive slippage...change the motor out and see what happens. They fail gradually (loose power). Total failure at 15-30ft in the air is a bad time to say "Wished I'd changed that motor". Motors are cheaper than replacing a CNC head that's been twisted into a pretzel!!!

OK...I think you need the following:
Item: Part# Price:
Heatsink LXHHN4 $1.29
Tail Rotor LXHHE2 $4.09
CN12 Motor LXHHF7 $8.49
BUT I AM NOT SURE ABOUT IT...I can't seem to get a handle on the exact requirements. Total will be about $24 (the price of two tail motors and a main from BP Hobbies.

Interesting note: On the dual rate for my DX6 I had to drop AI0 and EL0 to 50% to gain super solid stability in a close quarters hover. AI1 and EL1 I left at 100% for upstairs flight (15ft+). I backed the expotential off to zero%. Seems to like these settings very much and is very "hands off" at this point. I don't know how it will act outside though with a slight breeze maybe pushing on it. Flipping the dual rate switches would only take a micro second to put it at 100% should the need arise.

Got my DD tail from GWS this weekend as well as a new GWS CNC head assembly....their V2.
Haven't had much of a chance to do much tinkerin' but some great flyin' weather....calm in the AM and sundown over the last few days.
Gotta get another battery pack.
CNC head.....couple of months ago there was a question 'bout that GWS head and someone had a link to a modification or reassembly required for use on a Pro and I can't find it again.....anyone have a link.
Just a general thought......you'd think that a decent exploded view drawing of a complex mechanical part such as the head would be included with the unit.....no such luck. Anyone have a link to where I can get such info. That's one good thing about Microheli....their documentation is very good.
Anyone have any setup dimensions for the ball link couplings.
Being CNC, someone should have a CAD file out there to generate the tool path....or is that proprietory info.
Hate to be a pest but anyone have a decent article on how these "blade control systems" work......standard PRO layout with flybar above the main is comprehendable but the GWS system inverts that setup and introduces a new system 'tween the swashplate and the uppers. It's these mechanical differences I need to understand.
Maybe some thunder this eve but I'm rehearsing anyway.

I noticed something when I was taking apart my chopper and rebuilding it. You all probably already know this, but I thought I would post it because I didn't expect it.
The first pic shows how the stock setup really crimped on my servo wire.
The second pic shows what I did to fix 'er up. I used choppers info on twisting the wire. I think that will help out alot!

Hi, I hope you don't mind if I jump in with a couple questions, I've been reading this thread for a while and have learned alot as I have simular questions. I have been learning to hover with my cp pro and was considering doing something to mod the tail. There are alot of ways to modify the tail and after reading all the different forums I think the GWS DD tail seems the most popular. I was thinking of doing a partial mod. Can you put a 9T pinion on the Gws motor and use the stock housing with the stock gear/tail rotor setup? Do you think it will it get decent performance this way? I was just thinking it is nice when you have an occassional tail strike that the tail rotor pops off and does not break everytime. I have also been trimming my tail rotor 5/16", do you loose holding power as a result because it seems to hold with adjusting the the proportional pot abit? One last thought from another post, does the tail fin effect the tail rotor from doing it job? Thanks Rick

That's a good point you have there about the prop breaking... I dunno why I never thought of that before =P
Truglodite or something like that has done that before, dunno if it was a 9T though.
Oh yeah, and BTW half the guys in here fly Pro's or so far upgraded CP's that they are basically Pro's anyway. The Pro forum doesn't see much action, but we all have alot of fun in here.
Dunno if you have looked at it, but the dual tail is also a reasonable option =)
Oh, and trimming your rotor, you will run more volts through the motor, but probably not more amps. You'll just need to turn up the mixer like you already said. It should give you better spool up time though because the prop is smaller, I dunno how that would change the authority of the tail (less more or the same)

crashcrash & arrow,
I got mine from http://www.caliber30.com/bladeparts.shtml
You can get the whole package for 19.50. Add $8 for shipping. I got it in 2 days.
I broke in the motor per mrasmm and I have 20 flights. Still hold like new.

Arrow, I think it was you that was asking if you can use the stock tail to hold the cnx12?
Anyways I ran across this pic and thought you might be interested. BTW that is kyle stacy's chopper

Anytime!
If someone has a scale when they are putting this thing together, I wouldn't mind knowing what the all up weight of the setup is, maybe a pic too of what you weighed. If you can, that would be great!
