I'm already a tad tail heavy and that motor looks heavy(about .5 to 1 degree). Must be why he shortened the tail boom.

Anytime!
If someone has a scale when they are putting this thing together, I wouldn't mind knowing what the all up weight of the setup is, maybe a pic too of what you weighed. If you can, that would be great!

OK...apparently you can use the stock gearbox...that's cool! Thanks!

...........does the tail fin effect the tail rotor from doing it job?........
With the tail rotor on the right side of the boom I'm finding a tendency for the prop to "suck" the tail fin into a near strike.
I've heard that the DD tail with the prop on the left side alleviates that problem.
That said, I've found some of the plastic tail fins a mite flimsy for my taste so the installation of the new DD tail may help.

Thats why I used the GWS mount. It's lighter.

The tail fin (vertical) is there to assist the gryo in holding the tail straight during fast forward flight. I don't see where it would affect the operation of the tail rotor. If the tail rotor is "sucking" it in...that might be of consern (too light/flimpsy) I'm using the vert stab that come with the superskids...no problem at all.

Winds today ENE at 3-4mph which is too much for the heli (I have found). I put the ParkZone Cub (L-2) up...it was a SWEET flight. This time, I used the right channel on the DX6...what a difference (LOL).
Just come in from another with the ole L-2. Very nice flying weather for planks 61 deg, 10mph wind. This time I did have a problem so I thought. A very LARGE hawk showed up and was checking out the plane. The hawk circled me a few times looking stuff over but made the decision it wasn't a pidgeon or another food substance...and he left. The hawk's wingspan was 2-1/2 times the ParkZone planes wings...it was that close as to compare. I didn't try to run because the plane wouldn't outrun the hawk anyway. That was interesting (LOL).

OK back to the DD anybody running a gyro with it or stock set up? So far I count like 3 or 4 suppliers for the DD set up. Who's had the best luck with who. Opening a can of worms here but I'd like to give the set up a shot with the least amount of pain. Thanks

Hi, The LHS has the gws tailmotor, heatsink and tailblade/adapter in stock. He says I can just use the stock motor housing and it will work with the gws motor and tailblade/adapter, anyone else use this setup? I notice that after doing the DD mod the tail rotor is now on the left but using the stock housing it would be on the right, does this matter? Will the pinion from a stock cp pro motor fit on the shaft of the gws motor if I wanted to use the stock direct drive setup? One last really silly question, I stocked up on a few stock tail motors so I was wondering if the difference in the gws motor will be so noticeable that I should put on the upgrade right away or use my stock setup untill I burnout my stock tail motors? Thanks Rick

You bought the stock motors...burn 'em. Pinion size...don't know. If your prop is on the left or right, it's just a matter of moving wires and make sure rotation is correct. Go get 'em!

If you want to use DD, it doesn't have a pinion... That why it's called Direct Drive
(maybe I have what you are saying down backwords or something. It's up to you on the stock motors. If you used the stock tail holder, then it would be an easy change out, and you could just try it, and that would probably answer your q.
As far as the left/right orientation of the tail. Most people prefer the prop on the left side of the motor because it blows the air over the motor keeping it cooler, but it's not really that big of a deal. Just do what crash said =)
As far as anyone else using the stock tail setup... I just posted a pic, and that's what kyle stacy uses =)

Hi mrasmm, I don't know how I missed that pic but I guess you have already answered that question. I was just thinking I could slide a pinion on the gws motor shaft and use the stock gear and tail rotor, I guess I could experiment with it. Thanks Rick

Couldn't be happier to see you posting here again! And to offically welcome you back..............
, a question!
What now seperates my CP from being a Pro. I've done LiPo, Bell Hiller, 9 tooth Main Motor and main and tail heat sinks. What makes the 3 in 1 of the Pro different from the 4 in 1 of the CP. Or is the radio differnet somehow on the Pro?

On the past few pages I noticed a few people asking about where to get the GWS DD. I got mine from Boyz Toyz for $13.95 plus $2.95 shipping. I have ordered from them many times, shipping is pretty fast, normally arrives about 4 days from when I order, and best of all, most shipping costs are only $1.95.

I'm pretty new at the CPP, and I has having a very difficult time holding the tail in hover with the stock tail. After I installed the DD, tail worry's are a thing of the past for me. The rest of my heli is stock. The DD made a night and day bit of difference for me.

Without geting super technical.. The 3n1, in the Blade Pro, gives you the options for a brusless motor, ESC, Head Holding Gyro. You can't do that with the Standard Blade CP, with a 4n1 controller, unless you do some serious Hacking on the controller. Personally, I wouldn't hack a 4n1 to make it a 3n1 controller. Just my thougts on that...
And yes, the TX is different on the Pro compared to the CP... The Pro TX has twp additional knobs on top sode of the TX. One is for adjusting the pitch of the blades when in Idle-up mode (Left knob) and the other know is fo the additional Channel 5, can be used for the Head Holding gyro or retractable skids.. (Saw that on another site, it's cool.)
Hope this helps, if not, PM me.

Yes, Dave. It does explain it for me, thank you. I guess then that I will go no further trying to make my CP into a Pro. It is just not cost effective. I will, however, be watchin e-bay for a good deal on a Pro.
