mrasmm,

The paper clip mod will not work for me, the paper clips that i have are you small. I am using a needle right nwo though, but i think that might be the same metawl as ther thing it came with...

Thanks for the tips. I'm guessing the 8t pinion is to lower the gearing since the PlastiBlades are heavy. Does that just extend the life of the motor?

I now have to buy parts and fix the birdie, so I think I'll make some of these other mods as well. I was practicing a bit today and doing a wobbly hover, when the tail blade managed to touch the ground. SPROING! The tail bits went everywhere. Nothing seemed to break back there, but the parts all disappeared. I found the blade but will have to buy replacements for the rest. There must've been some main blade strike as well, since I noticed one of the connectors just under the hub came off as well. I'll have to look for further damage when I disassemble it, but I don't expect anything else since it didn't hit that hard.

This sure is challenging to fly, but at least I was making some progress!;)

lol that happened to me. I was flieing, and logn story short, Big wind came and it went into gravel. Tail stuff flew everywhere and i couldnt find a bearing and the end clear thing. Im just going to buy a dual motor miount now instead. Longer life of motor is a good thing:)

yeah, no prob. It will extend the life of the motor by making it run less hot, and it will also be easier on your battery and make flight times 15-20% longer =) I noticed about a 2 min increase from 10 min (so 12 total) with the stock battery, and about 3 min increase with my 1250mAh pack from 15 to 18 min.

I used to live not too far from you in Encinitas =P

that is the same vertical fin that i have and its about $12. but i mounted mine to the daul motor mount not to the boom looks better.

Junktim

i would look at picking up the micro heli stainless steel spindal it the stuff it will take alot bigger hit then the e-flite one i have put mine in pretty hard about 4 times and still straight well worth the dollor more.

ahh ok... anytime =)

I personally am a fan of the futaba and compatibles. Not that the JR/airtronics is a bad radio or anything (their new 2.4ghz might be the best one out when it comes out)

good luck figuring it out =)

I dunno if everyone over here has heard it... but another guy has started up a chat room for the blades over on IRC

if you want to get on it, go to http://chat.efnet.org

type in your nick

click the arrow next to the channel, and go down to other

type in #bladecp then hit ok

that will bring you back to the first screen, then hit login

Newb question:

I managed to bend my main shaft, so I bought a replacement. I'm trying to pull the stock shear (retaining) pin out, and it doesn't want to budge. I'm using needle-nose pliers on it, and still can't get it to move. Any ideas? Is it glued in or something? Is there a trick to getting it out?

mrasmm 04-21-2007 06:12 PM

RE: E-FLITE BLADE CP PRO

it's just held in there by the compression of the plastic head, you probably just need to pull a bit harder or something. You might try the paper clip mod in the future =)

Also make sure to sand down the old main shaft to get it out through the bearing

RE: E-FLITE BLADE CP PRO

Cool, thanks. I just got another set of pliers and PULLED!! It finally came out. Man, that retaining pin was doinked!! No wonder my main shaft was all bent up.

Well, I got the new shaft in and used a paper clip this time. I also installed the Super-skids since I just got those in the mail today. Now I just need to add the extra weights I bought to the flybar, to hopefully desensitize it a bit more, and I should be back in business.

mrasmm 04-21-2007 10:05 PM

RE: E-FLITE BLADE CP PRO

hehe yeah, sounds like you've got 'er whipped.

Make sure to rebalance the flybar when you add the weights, and also put all the weights to the outside (if you didn't already know, if you already did, then pretend like you didn't =P) as close as you can get to the paddles to dampen the cyclic.

Junktim 04-21-2007 11:09 PM

RE: E-FLITE BLADE CP PRO

Well, unfortunately those paddles don't seem to want to come off. Very frustrating. I unscrewed the nut/bolt on both sides, twisted them a little to loosen and then pulled like hell, hanging on to each paddle. They just would not come off. I decided enough's enough. I'll add weights when I really crash and have to get a whole new flybar. This one is permanent.

I'll restart my hover training in the morning.

RE: E-FLITE BLADE CP PRO

You might try turning the paddles counter clockwise when looking at them from the ends. Usually they are threaded on. Maybe yours wont twist though.

I am a dummy. That didn't even occur to me. Thanks!!

I took mine off for the first time the other day. Pulled and pulled, and then finally realized they were threaded on.....sheesh!

Practicing my hover today I managed to move out of my "box" and hit the wall.

It looks like all I need is a new blade grip, but I'm looking at the set of new ones I just bought and am surprised that they aren't assembled. The baggie has the grip as well as some washers and a bearing spacer -- but not the bearings. I guess I need to pull the bearings out of the old one and put them into this one.

Any tricks on getting the bearings out of the old one? I guess I need to pry them out of each end, but I'm worried about damaging them as I try to pry them out.

RE: E-FLITE BLADE CP PRO

using a small jewelry type screw driver helps. Also make sure you put all the parts back on in the right order, or you're gona end up with a sticky colletive problem...

I found a safety pin that was thin enough to catch the edge of the bearings from inside and I simply pushed them out. I put everthing back in order (I hope) in the new grip. I noticed there was quite a bit of grease/silicone inside the old grip. The parts I'm reusing still have a fair bit on there, but next time I'll need to get some of that stuff. What is it?

I'm off to burn some batteries now. Wish me luck!!!

RE: E-FLITE BLADE CP PRO

for metal on metal you can use 3 in 1... just be careful not to get it on the plastic. The white stuff is just what you said it is, silicone grease =)

that dry ice stuff works really well too
RCU has a review on it

Can you just use silicone grease on everything? That seems like it'd be easiest.

I made it through two battery packs of hovering practice, with no major crashes. I gave myself a bigger "box" - the racquetball court down at the nearby school. That worked pretty well, since it gave me some shelter from the wind, too.

My tail has about had it, though. It never really recovered from my first major crash and blade strike. I landed pretty hard about 2/3 through my 2nd battery, and the tail is now very sketchy. It seems like it occasionally struggles to keep up with what the gyro is telling it to do - lagging first, and then going into overdrive. I think I need to upgrade that next.

My boom is also pretty splintered. It still holds the tail on, but barely. I've been avoiding this repair since I've never soldered anything before. I own a soldering kit, but have never had to use it. Now's my chance, I guess.

I recently bought the pro after owning the original cp and upgraded it to brushless. I am using a Castle 10 esc and Himax 4100 motor. When i am flying, if I increase the power or sometimes just randomly, the power to the motor is reduced for a short time. It will not climb like it did without the brushless motor. What can I do to fix this problem? Is something programed wrong on the esc such as the voltage cutoff?

This might be your problem... to see if the tail is still aright, you can try to CA the boom so it becomes more rigid again. The splinters in it could be making it wag. If that is the problem, just replace the boom =)

oh yeah and silicone you can use on everything... but on some things it could get flipped off because of the high speed... the teflon would be good for those places.
