Hezik,
Thanks, that is the answer I was looking for since I already have a new set...
Huison,
Thanks for the Hitec option and the stab pics, your installation looks great. I have a new Futaba S9151 digital rudder servo that I plan on using. Keeps from having to spend more money... And then that means I can buy other things with the money I save..... As long as the wife doesn't find out....lol
Thanks for the input everyone.....

Ladies and gentlemen, let me introduce my servo's to you.. first of, on rudder, we have the ever hard working, Futaba BLS 451

Then, on ailerons, always ready to make a show, give it up for the Futaba S9650!

(notice; these are smaller than the holes, but they will fit without extra wood added.. I did use some covering in the same color, to close the rest of the opening)
And as always, last but not least, on elevators, we have the brothers of the aileron servo's, the allmighti Futaba S9650!

Looks like I will be going with 5485s on the ailerons and maybe the same for the elevators as I will be on 10S and want some weight on the back. I will decide later on the rudder servo, guess it will be some Hitec digital too. Waiting and waiting for the motor now ... should probably commence my build next weekend.

Today we had a contest. In the Netherlands we have 3 classes for the Dutch championship, A, B and C. A flies the P09 schedule and F09 in the finals (P11/F11 next year), the B schedule is a somewhat simplified P09. C schedule is a program in which only middle-figures are judged.
Last year I came in second in the Dutch Championship F3A-C, and the contest today I came in 3rd on the 'B schedule' with the WindS. First place was also taken by a WindS, second place by a ZNLine Synergy. The B and C schedules are flown on the same day, the first place in the C schedule was also taken by a WindS.
I would say it does fine

Hezik ... let me ask you something. I got 5S packs and am not keen to get 4S packs for the WindS. I have checked and searched the net and the only practical motor for the WindS on 10S is the A50-16L with a 17x8. Today, I realized that I can use my THROTTLE CURVE to limit the amount of throttle. Hence, I can still perhaps use 10S packs and fly her like an 8S. This is correct right?
Usually when we fly, towards the end of the flight, motor performance is sluggish because the packs cannot hold its voltage. If I were to do the above then this would mean for most of the duration of my flight it will not feel sluggish as when I use an 8S since I am USING 8S power that is being drawn from a 10S pack. Flight duration will be much longer too.
On the other hand I just realise that with an 8S set up the WindS will be about 10 oz lighter than my 10S set up ... hmmmm ... maybe I am being foolish.

It will probably fly fine on 10s and a 17x8, I wouldn't start with adjusting throttle curves etc.
The weight wouldn't be too much of an issue, it's not a 2m bird so you'll keep it below the 5kg mark.. and in windy conditions, the extra weight might even be an advantage.
Also, you could use packs with lesser capacity, like a 3500mAh 10s pack.

Hezik , me and tIANci already have the 5s 4900mah lipo , so would not likely to spand more to buy another set of 4000mah lipo .
For me ,i am building an 2m E-power Integral now so i want to use it in both plane !

Here a video of me flying the Dutch B schedule:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Q1ZN4x-1Jo
Schedule:
1) start (procedure turn, trimpassage)
2) double split "s" with half rolls
3) reversed half cuban eight with 2/4pts roll
4) two opposite rolls
5) stall turn, 1/2 roll up, inverted exit
6) top hat, half roll in top line
7) Humpty Bump, pull, half rull, pull half roll, push
8 ) knife edge flight (inverted entry & exit)
9) half square loop with half roll
10) inward and outward loop from top, half roll integrated from first to second loop
11) 2 turns spin
12) cuban eight, 1/2 roll in the first and full roll in the second 45 degrees line
13) half squire loop 'on the point' (?) with a half roll in the first 45 degrees
14) 45 degrees downline with full positive snaproll
15) landing
Unfortunatelly, this was the worst flight I made that day. 3 obvious mistakes are visible:
1) I lose a lot of depth on the first roll of the two opposite rolls
2) Don't ask me why, but I did 3.5 turns on my spin. Probably because just before that I judged 12 'C-schedule' flights, which has a 3 turn spin)
3) overrolled the snaproll by about 25 degrees
Also, this was flown in a 5~6 bft headwind. It might look my downlines are crooked at some times, this is due to the camera angle and the wind.

Hezik ... it looks good. She has good power for sure. It seems a little fast on the downlines. Landing looks like she is just floating in. Huison and myself found a nice motor for 10S, the Scorpion 4035-250. Looks very sweet to us.

With the Hacker setup, it does accelerate somewhat on downlines indeed.. not much tho.
The power was not enough in these conditions, especially in the loopings it was impossible to maintain a constant speed..

Hezik ... I hope to know how well she flies in about 2 weeks time. Now that my Ms Wind is ready I can start on the Wind S. I really love how PHAT she looks. The T top looks interesting but I doubt I will have that as it will be prone to damage.

Guys
First of all I am new to serious electric models. I recently bought a second hand Angel 50S for a good price with two 6S packs. The Angel is the best flying model I have had to date and I was truly amazed by the vertical performance. I also tried it on a 5S pack and it flew ok but the vertical was nothing like as good, as could be expected.
As the bug has well and truly bitten I am considering a Wind 110 and have read the thread all the way through. As you might expect some of it is double Dutch to me with the variations on motor, battery and prop. I did read in post 108/109 that someone is flying it on 6S setup. Is this possible? It would certainly keep the cost down for me as if I go 8S I will have to buy at least two packs and an extra charger to be able to field charge all these batteries! I do not intend to fly competition F3A but would still like good vertical performance. Any advice would be appreciated.
regards
John

I am sure she can fly on 6S BUT ... how well? You are in a dilemma ... the Angel S can go with 5S but then your Wind S will be 10S. Unless you wanna fly 6S and 8S. If you want to go 5S on your Angel you may need to prop her more to draw more amps or change the motor. So how now brown cow?

German Jochen Strubel flies the 110 on 6s.
See a movie of him flying it, here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ws7J2qd5IHs
The setup is mentioned in the movie.
However, also note he is always flying at about 3/4 to full throttle. On a windy day, it wouldn't be enough.

Thanks for your prompt replies, this is the great beauty of RC Universe, information freely shared among like minded individuals which can help us avoid costly mistakes.
Firstly I am going to stick with 6S on the Angel and would like to go 6S on the Wind, that way I have battery packs that will do for both models and enable me to go to 12S if I decide to get a full 2metre model later. I have watched Jochen Strubel's video and his Wind has all the performance I would need, so he has to fly on 3/4 - full throttle, what is the downside of this? He was flying over seven minutes on a 4200 battery. His setup is Axi 4130/16 motor, Jeti spin 77, prop is not mentioned, anyone know what the prop should be?
Do you guys think this is the best motor/ESC combo for 6S ? Would you suggest something else? Any suggstions?

John ... this is what forums are all about. I have in my own time burnt so many motors, some ESCs too. I got most of my knowledge here, people are helpful. I suspect Jochen is using no more than 17x10, suspect only because anything more the motor will really be getting hot. Again, he is a superb pilot. Knows how much he has and how far he can push it.

Well that was quick!
I got a PM from someone local to me offering me a Scorpion 4025-12 motor and a 90amp ESC with bec which he had bought for a Fliton 90 for 6S setup and had not used. I got the motor / ESC for a very fair price and have ordered my Wind 110. I can test it with my existing 6S pack and if the combo is not strong enough I can default to an 8S setup and only have to buy a new motor / 4S packs.
