Thought I'd get a few more flights on it before I left on my trip... and after all this 'show', not a drop of rain and calm warm air (instead of the wind and heat before).

Hello JAS:

two questions based on the modification you made to the integral you brought to Colombia and its later modification to Integral X:

- Will the T can be installed later on the Envision? either way, why yes or why not?

- I see the elev and rudd trailing edges in the envision are not very thick again (just slightly thicker than the original integral and way smaller than the modification made for the Integral X), why did you go back when this modification was done to your integral as well as many other planes using thick surfaces (specially rudders)?

the main question after these two comments is: HOW DO THE P -11 AND F - 11 SCHEDULES REALLY DEMAND FOR SOME HARDWARE CHANGES, AND IF SO WHAT CHANGES?

Thank you and Great Flying! (Colombian Nationals start in two weeks!!!)

Hey Jason,

You obviously don't have a sheila (woman) in your life. Ah the freedom of having model stuff in every room of the house.... One can only dream! lol

One thing I've noticed with these new ships that CA is putting out is the short landing gear. Is there any problem with prop ground clearance? Shorter gear should equal lower weight...

Hey just thought of something... You could even sleep with a model!

Cheers
Jason.

Jason,

Jason is out of town at the moment but maybe I can answer the Q. Some of our new planes have the short gear but hat does not hurt your prop clearance any because the gear is just mounted lower in the fuselage. We took the measurements from the Passport 2010 and went from there.

As for the earlier question about the trailing edge thickness on the Envision the answer is simple, we made a mistake. Ja asked for a half inch thick TE on the rudder and the plane he recieved was only 3/8ths. We have since corrected the issue.

I am sure Ja will chime in when he gets a chance.

Hope this helps

Jasons second model has been shipped. We changed the rudder shape and thickness, added some more pins in the canopy as well as this one is super lite all ultrakote. He also had us do a conventional wing on this plane so he can do a direct comparison between the swept wing and double taper. All in all it looks really good to us and we are looking forward to hearing the flight reports. I think this plane will easily be between 10.5 and 10.75 depending on battery selection.

Marcelo just brought the Envision we are doing for Chris to have at the nats and the new scheme so I will be posting some pics next week as it is being finished.

Here are a few pics

Fed-Ex just dropped of the New Envision. So far the wings/stabs/rudder look beautiful.

R wing- 12.3ozs
L-wing- 12.4ozs
This also has removable tips for SFG's, but no SFG's included in the weights
L-stab- 3.1ozs
R-stab- 3.5ozs (includes stab tube)

Ok, time to unpack the fuselage

Fuselage- 2lbs 4.1ozs
Canopy- 4ozs
Rud- 1.9ozs

Same wing tube location? ie, will the CG on fuse be at the same place?

Sweet. Never had the time to do that exact experiment myself....I think I know the answer tho It will come down to a matter of preferences/priorities for the pilot on different maneuvers.

Here's a few pics from when I went to visit Andrew and Heather at their new home. Andrew was gracious enough to let me practice with his Envision while I was there.

Here it is after some graphics.

Sorry for the delay in the build of the 2nd Envision. I caught a whiff of thin CA that blasted my face and mostly my eyes, so I've been a bit 'under the weather' cause of it. Sucks having been 'sniffing' CA all my life and in the past 10 years becoming allergic to the fumes.

Here's some pics of the aileron and elevator servo holes being cut and the tabs being glued in. I didn't cut the covering flush with the boxes as I like to wrap it inside the boxes. I used the larger of the 2 sets of aileron block for the standard sized servo (BLS551 low-profile) instead of the 'airfoiled' shaped servo (9154). There are only one set of tabs for the elevators for the 9650's

After running leads and drilling the holes, the servos were mounted. Since I took these right from my Integral, I didn't have to figure out center for the servo arms on the ailerons and I went ahead and lined up the horns where I wanted them. This should give me a nice straight pushrod when going to max deflection. I know some prefer a straight pushrod at neutral, but I like it this way. The elevator horns were put inline with the servo arm.

While I was drilling for servo screws, I went ahead and drilled and mounted the BLS352 rudder servo as well.

I will be gluing in the .80 carbon pushrods and running the Du-Bro 4-40 pull-pull system tomorrow after I get all the radio stuff installed and hooked up.

And before I went to bed tonight I went ahead and glued in the firewall. I used the same technique as the first one to keep the plane hanging around so I could more easily work on getting the motor centered and taped into position. Once set, I used some Medium ZAP (Green bottle) and tacked the firewall in a few places to the fuselage so it wouldn't move when I removed the tap and removed the motor before epoxying.

In between servo mounting and firewall install, I went ahead and pulled my 8ch FASST Rx and my Shulman Aviation 6V regulator out of the Integral and velcro'd it on to the rudder tray as well. 10 seconds to do so why not

3am and time for bed...

Ok... pushrods are done, landing gear/wheels/pants are on and mounted, tailwheel is mounted. Only things left are the switch, pull-pull cables and screw in the motor and velcro the controller in place.

Tomorrow's the test flight, then start packing for the trip to NC.

Nice work Jason.

Is that a BLS 651 on your elevator? The car one.

You must be pretty confident in your setup with a new model.

All the best for the Nationals

Hi Chris,

The newest Envision is a more 'standard' model. The swept wing is a bit different feeling than the Integrals/Valiant. The new one, even though it only has 1 flight on it (mount stripped on Pletty so 2 bolts didn't keep it tight enough to the firewall), flies like the Integral/Valiant. I have to adjust some throws, but that should be a quick fix tomorrow.

Elv servos are just 9650's. I ordered some BLS153's, but they don't have the side tabs and I didn't order the BLS651's cause I was lazy (and the 9650's work great)

Don't have any pics... cause in my rush to go fly, I left my camera at home. It's already in my TX case for tomorrow Time for an early night of sleep

ok... 5 more flights on top of the 1 test flight. 2 flights and the CG and throws were set and the mixes are close. One more day of final tweaking and she's ready. This one has no learning curve as it has a 'typical' feel, so it's time to pack for tomorrow's start of my Nats trip.

BIG thanks to Chip and Marcelo for making this happen, I truly appreciate all their hard work and back-n-forths in making this come true.

I think the double taper wing looks better on a wide body. Swept wings belong on narrow, racy, jet-type fuses. I'm sure it's easier to "see" your wings in the air. See ya soon!

With the landing gear mounted low in the fuselage, and a 21x14 APC, there's almost 2" (50mm) of ground clearance.

Here's final set-up:

Envision by CA Models
Futaba 14MZ FASST with 8ch Rx
Brushless Futaba servos: ailerons- 551, rudder- 352, Digitals: elevators- 9650
Thunder Power 10S 5000 PLV2 motor battery and a 2-cell 730 Rx battery
Plettenberg Evo 30-10 motors powering them (unless I strip out the mounting bolts, then I run the Fury)
APC-e 21x14 props
Tru-Turn 3 1/4" vented e-spinner with turbolite backplate
Shulman Aviation 6V Rx battery regulator
Jeti Comp 90 speed controller (going on 6 years...)
Du-Bro hardware
Kirby's Kustom Graphics to make it all look good
