Default Aerohawk sliding -

Would appreciate some help on how to stop my Aerohawk from sliding left on the floor before the rotor reaches lift speed? I can control the yaw with left stick but it doesn't stop the side slipping. Also tried right stick on the pitch cyclic but that doesn't seem to do much other than slow the rotor down (??) and cause it to start oscillating. Is this a problem with my heli (swash plate) or am I doing something wrong? To compensate for the sliding on the floor I'm using rubber grommets on the skids - which keeps it in place longer - but than it leaps into the air - usually followed by an uncontrolled landing (crash). Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Jack

When you do lift off which direction does the heli go? It should be in a neutral position and not favor any direction unless your linkages or trim are not setup correctly , 75% throttle should send it straight up then observe where "it" wants to go then correct it by either trimming the controller or the servo linkage .

All these micros drift to the left on takeoff, it is very normal ??
Just use heaps of right trim and before it takes of move the cyclic to left and right and make sure controls do not need reversing. My advice is to go out to the back yard and try it there first as you are going to need a bit more room until you get used to it. You also need to be about 3 foot off the ground to get out of ground effect...

As for the oscillating (this does not normally happen till you are flying for a few seconds) ... If you are having the same problem I had, I found that the head/rotor setup was too tight. I just reverted back to my original rotor head which has worn so much that it pops off by itself every time I land, however it fixed the problem since the slack must allow the rotors to find their balance position ?

For the oscillating problem try grabbing the blade tips and twisting them down. I had this problem with my aerohawk and after heaps of playing round found this solved the problem.

Also with the aerohawk you will need to take the head apart and sand the inside of the swivel joint till it moves freely. You will also note that when the two parts of this are together if you grab the two blade grips and pull, it warps the outer part which then binds againts the inner. So when sanding the inner pce you will need to take heaps off two allow for the movement in the plastic on the outer part.

I hope this helps you out

I learned the quick way by going along to our local micro heli club and getting advice and help with set up. Best thing i did.

Check your tail rotor blade and make sure the leading edge is the curved edge, if it is not turn the blade around.
