Brief update on the Mac 25, I ran it this afternoon with the pipe and header for the Evolution 26 (good deal from Horizon) Still with the stock carb and aircleaner it would turn the 16x8 Bambula at 8730rpm. That's rocking on pretty good for a $65 motor.

flipflop: Way to GO!!!!! I got a pipe simular to that I bought at a swap meet. May have to give it a try. I once had a 30cc Homelite that ran pretty good on a Irvine pipe. It was short...may have been a reverse cone type. I cannot remember. Thanks for posting that nice photo. Thats good RPM for the $$$$ Regards Capt,n

flipflop,
Did you run your engine with any other type of exaust? I was wondering what kind of gain you got with the pipe for the Evolution? Also do you know the weight of that pipe including header?
Thanks,
Pete

flipflop.
You have acquired the title of ‘Official Experimenter.’
How long is the pipe. Would you mind posting the mounting hole spacing on the Evolution header? Did you get a tack reading on the Ryobi engine?

Every few days since Captinjohn first posted I go by the local Home Depot’s to see if they have the blower. So far no luck. If you see the MD290 on sale again in the $50 to $60 range I need two for a twin. Twins tend to be dangerous to start so I intend to leave the pull start on the engine. flipflop’s post about a 16-8 prop at 8730 RPM is a powerful lot of RPM for a 25cc engine.
Let me know if you see the engine on sale. I will work out a method to get you the money.
Thanks.

OK, first question... go back and read the first couple of pages of the thread
I didn't weigh the pipe and header, Dick Hanson has posted the weight somewhere in one of his post, I've forgotten for sure but think it's in the 9-11oz. range.
I asked about the header bolt hole spacing in the MVVS suppost forum and Dar Zeelon quickly replied and included a diagram. the bolt hole spacing is 36.5mm. The diagram is in the "MVVS 1.6 exhaust" thread in the MVVS support forum. The Zenoah G-26 bolt hole spacing is around 35mm (ask Ralph, he can tell you for sure what it is) The Mac 25 bolt hole spacing was a couple of mm less than this (sorry, I didn't measure it, I just put it on the mill and slotted the holes to make it fit)
Mr. Hanson has stated in his post about the pipe/ header combo saying that it is a broad range pipe that is already tuned for the rpm range we'll most likely be running in (Plug and Play, just put it together with a gap large enough to keep the pipe and header from touching) Overall lenght of the pipe is around 27.5in. from the center of the header to the end of the pipe.
AAAAhhhh... that Ryobi. I'll have to get my homemade header welded sometime and the next time I try it I think I'll have to use a smaller prop. That 18x8 on the pipe was causing so much cylinder pressure that I was about to blow the base gasket. I'll get back to it somewhere down the road. For now, I've got a new Homelite 30 that is begging me to soup it up.

Called about the snow blower early this morning and was told the blowers are out of stock. Was very disappointed. If you see the blower anywhere else let me know.
Thanks for your help.

Gas Twin
The original plan was to use 2 Ryobi’s with magneto ignition. Bought two and converted one. The engine probably starts OK for use as a single. For twin use I simply want pull start capability from behind the wing, which requires a different engine.

Bills: I just got back home. The engines have to be there. I seem them late Sunday. you got to talk to somebody who is on the ball at Home Depot. I would try again. You will not need pull start. If I pull very slow and it will start. Its hard to believe. Best starting mag engine I have come onto. PM me if you want. Capt,n

Tried Michigan again with no luck. They refered me to a Baltimore store and no luck.
Even starting engines on a small glow twin is quite dangerous. I am not willing to take the risk with a gas twin.

I asked for SNOW blower MB290 and Corey knew the one I was talking about. Maybe I need to know the isle and shelf where the blowers are located.
When you are in the store maybe they could call me and get my credit card number.
Thanks.

Bills and all: My brother in law was going to Grand Rapids. I asked him to stop to Home Depot (616-447-0100) and to pick me up a MB290 Mac blower. They had 5 left...way up on top shelf. He got me one for $49.95 + tax. The people there was slow in finding them...it took 45 min to get one he said. Good Luck Capt,n[&:] Ya....when I called them they could not seem to find em....HA!

Capt’n thanks for all your help.
I have called again. The UPC number on the box would be helpful. Someone at Home Depot is looking and they are expected to call back.

Bills: Try 132006 is the code they use in some Home Depots. What they got to do is open the eyeballs...ON TOP SHELF in blower shelf area. Black yellow and white box. Capt,n

Capt’n,
With the UPC number she found the snow blower in the computer. Someone in the store has pulled two blowers down. They have my credit card number. It appears that we set on go.

Where can I buy a prop adaptor for the MB290? I have two I just got from a local Home depot - $29 each missing everything but the powerhead. No air tube, manual, or box! I would have purchased more, but they only had two left.
FYI, They are LEAF blowers, not SNOW blowers! Maybe thats why they couldnt find them when you asked?
Anyone who can make me a prop adaptor or two, please email me! I cant wait to get one of these engines onto a plane. [email protected]
