With respect to post 69,
Thanks Tom, i was afraid of that, not set on an airframe yet, if i go with your line, i'll stick with the Cap then. My engine choice is set with the 3W-56b2, but i need/want it to be fully inclosed. Getting closer to a decision now

Tom, absolutely will, the PIC was just a mock up and the muffler is not even bolted on, nor is the cowl LoL. I always protect the plug wire, thanks for the tip though it is always good to alert of such information. Thanks.

Scooterpilot, ya know I didnt measure how much I cut off, I did more measuring of how much clearance I needed to pass the cowl ring. I had to extend my cowl opening to go just behind the exhaust tubes, did this by using construction paper/card stock to make a template. Then transferred that onto my cowl and cut just shy of my measurements, I like to sneak up on it LoL. Then I measured down from the engine box to the top of the cowl ring and used that to make a guess-ta-mate. I then cut the exhaust tubes and mocked it up and just needed to trim about a 1/8th of an inch more and thats what you see now. I can measure the tubes from the muffler body to the end and post that measurement if you need??? Let me know.

It would be lovley to se a DA 50 with canister!
Maybe in the next group I can allocate one for a build, or maybe someone out there is doing this.

I plan on building mine with a canister muffler, I think both the stock DA muffler and pitts are too loud. (for my tastes) Do you sell cans Tom? If so I will call you and "upgrade" my order. When's the container coming... I'm anxious!

Just unpacked my first Wild Hare, the New Extra 300 and all I can say is WOW! The Red, Yellow and Black scheme is a knockout. I have never seen an out of the box plane look this good. I did find one difference in the information on the web site and the documentation shipped with the plane. One the web site, the wing area is listed as 1350 square inches but in the manual the wing area is listed as 1290 square inches. Anyone know which is correct

Why not just figure the wing area out yourself? It's not tough! All you do is measure the length of the wing at the fuselage, then at the tip. Add these numbers together, and divide by 2. This gives you the average cord, or length of the wing. From there, all you do is multiply that by the wing span. Assuming both measurements are in inches, the result will give you the wing area in square inches.

Is the fuselage area between the wing panels supposed to be included in the total number? I've always wondered if the advertised wing area included this, or if it's supposed to be just the actual wing.

Well I have always wondered how that was measured and calculated so now I know. I am about 200 miles from the new extra so can't do the measurements today. Tom could you let us know is the web site wing area correct or is the area listed on the instructions the right number. Thanks.
