Has anyone had issues with the spark plug. The isulator comes loose from the base. Then the engine leaks compression.

Yes the washer is installed. You can spin the insulator. Also have carbon build up on the outside of the insulator.

Sounds like a faulty plug.

I had the maiden flights today of my new Pheonix Spitfire powered by a Evolution 10cc gas engine. The plane flew well and the engine ran great but did have a flame out at the end of the second flight. I have no idea what caused the flame out. I am pleased with this combination but a bit leary of the flame out issue.

Best wishes and good safe flying.

Here are a few pictures of my Evolution 10cc gas engine powered Pheonix Spitfire. I have not installed the cowl as yet until I finish tuning and breaking in the engine.

Best wishes and good safe flying.

It is usually recommended make break in with mineral oil. There is no any recommendations about oil for break in process in manual. Will the synth. oil provide propper break in? Thanks.

Use regular 2-stroke petroleum based oil then switch over to synthetic after break-in.

Ok, thanks. I decide to use Stihl HP for break in. Then will use Stihl Ultra.

Guys the breakin in the manual states to use regular 24/1 oil mix 2 cycle oil then go with the synthetic but I never heard of using mineral oil this motor is bullet proof I've crashed it hard at least 3 times and put it in our lake and have done nothing to it except get a new head thanks horrizon hobby s. due too. Oh yes don't over tighten the damn spark plug and if your havering a hard time with the plug cap u just push on and quarter turn by far guys there not a better 10 cc out there gas is so much more east than glow.

Has anybody tried, or does anybody know if this engine will run backwards?

Went to Rhinebecks R/C airshow last weekend and found a royal p-38 kit there untouched for a 100 bucks... was too tempting to pass up. Was thinking 2 10gx's might be fun.

As supplied out of the box the engine won't run backwards. This requires a new crankshaft to change th intake timing and a new prop driver to modify the ignition timing. We could make these available if there is enough interest.

Hmm, just how much interest would be needed??

Hey guys, I just got the chance to try out my evolution 10 cc today. Got it running awesome. Instinct transition. Idel 3800 with 10 x 6 high end was 11600 any ways. It's on a aero works profile 46. Got it on the run way and did not feel comfertable taking off not much power. It would move but not neer well enough for take off. The guys with me agreed. Been in gas for a while. Iam thinking need a bigger prop....? Weight is about 5 1/2 ibs to 6 anyone else had this happen. Like I said it runs fine. Going to try 11x6 next like the manually says. Just hopping I can fly it with this prop. Any thoughts ?

Hello so just bought one of these engines to put on a 60 size glass sticks high wing. From what I have read so far can't beat for the price. I am going to run the long tuned pipe with it pipe free and the engine with discount $178.99 can't beat it for a gasser

Might be a bit small for a 60 size plane. But if you try it, let us know how it works.

It is fiberglass stick the all thing is glass I don't know who makes it but the whole thing the tail every thing and the wing is foam core sheeted. I bought it off Craig's list. The plane must be old it has the pin type servos still in it. It calls for a 60size engine and that is what the 10cc is just made to run on gas. I think it will be a good match. Just wanted to know if there is any big problems on this power plant. You know you hear things. Thanks

People reported before that the 10cc is a real dog trying to fly a 60 size plane. But like I said, if you try it, let us know how it works out.

Its definitely different than flying a glow .60. not better/worse, but different. You'll see what I mean when you fly it.

The discussion has been that the 10gx is equivalent to a hot .46 sized engine. I think that is on the modest side, its definitely stronger than a .46. It will fly your .60 size plane... but think scale flight, not 3D.

as for the backwards running engine interest.... Im interested. This engine would be a perfect match for all the old royal twin kits. Which probably means realistically there is at least 4-5 people in the U.S. with an interest I doubt the interest is high unfortunately... but I'm wishing I had one.

My 10gx developed a click today. I'm into my 4th gallon, running 13x6. This motor has been running great. Any ideas what this sounds like.

What does it sound like/feel like when it is not running?

Well if I rotate the cylinder to around TDC I can feel the clicking spot.
Then I wiggle it back and forth a degree or two on that spot it feels like there is a bit of play and it feels rough.
I can't tell if its the crankshaft or the connecting rod causing the click. It certainly doesn't sound right.
I have been running Husqvarna and Dolmar synthetic 2 cycle oil. I bought this motor in January, just after they came out.
It always had a little click to it, now it is very pronounced.
