Jim...

What are you gonna put yours in?
Maudib

It's going on a CMP Giles 202 (Post-3). I know the firewall will need triming like in your Post-22 (pic) above. I plan on putting a heat shield (flashing) to keep the epoxy from getting soft. I think I have just 5 1/2" from what I messuered.

Like your idea on the adjustable motor mounts. Scott mentioned to me he had thought about an adjustable slider mount. The new ones may be just that, if they don't interfere with muffler sides.

Th 36 is on the website now:

http://www.brillelli.com

The 36GT is intro proced at $355 WITH the Roy Scholl ignition... regular price will be $399

I talked with him last night about some of the things he does with these things... after a while I got a glazed look in my eye and realized it was beyond me...

Like "Daizy Duke" says in the Direct TV HD commercial... "I totally don't know what that means but I want it..."

I havent spoke with Scott about this engine too much ... but I can tell you it's def. had the crank balanced and whatnot.. he does that automatically to every engine just to get them as smooth as possible out of the box.

I think that picture earlier was a different 36C engine.... but it's close enough for me......

As always - looks like Scott is "doing it right".... like that other 36C

Can the Gt36 be ordered with standard size cooling fins? The top of cylinder is where things get hot! Capt,n

Capt,

there is not much removed from the fins. Just enough to make it round. In a saw more fins are needed because of the low amount of cooling, In a plane it will not overheat. Unless it gets closed in. But that hold true for any engine. I would do it that way if requested though. Just less work for me

Hey, Scott.... can you send that engine from post 28 with mine?
(You can leaves those fins stock, too)

Scott,

Do you know how this engine responds to a full tuned pipe? I am looking at it for use in a 2M pattern plane and the rear exhaust makes it a lot easier to run the exhaust system, but I am concerned it will not have enough power for this application. To really do it for this size plane, I will need a Mejz or similar 20x10 at 7000+rpm. Do you think the 36 can get there with a full pipe setup? Otherwise, it will probably be the 46GT, but I really would like to save those 6oz...

Thanks,
Mark

I would think it would be close.... Pretty sure Scott used a Xoar which will pull hard but get lower rpms. I would think a PT or Mej 20x8 would hit 7000 after a gallon or so. With a pipe I cant see why it wouldn't wake up and be able to move up to a 20x10 with similar or more rpms.

I think the chances are pretty slim of getting 7000 on a 20x10. It is doing just under 7000 on a Mejzlik 20x8, so the increased load will just drive it lower. A pipe may pick up 300 rpm, but still not enough. I will be running it on a pipe soon, but I still think 7000 on a 22x10 is out of the question. According to Pe Revers calculator (pretty accurate) it would take 5.11 HP to turn that prop that fast. I do not even think the 46 will do it. It would take a 50cc. A DA 50 is rated at 5HP. That is alot of HP for anything under 50cc. The more I check, even an Evolution 35 would not come close to that. Sorry.

Scott,

You have added 2" of diameter to the prop! I expect the 46 on a full pipe will easily get well over 7000rpm on a 20x10, my guess is more like 7400-7500rpm with a Menz-S. I was hoping the 36 would get around 7000rpm for the weight savings and the tidy packaging the rear exhaust would allow.

How is the exhaust timing? If it is conservative, raising the port a bit would help it out with the pipe, but it is not going to be a miracle...

Thanks,
Mark

Sorry I meant 20x10. Now it says 3.8HP.......that is doable. For the 46 yes and then some, the 36, not sure. I will run the next one on a pipe and let you know what I get. All I have is a KS 1060 for a 50cc, so who knows, but it is worth a try. I just don't want to BS you and say yes until I know. Wish I had a 20x10 here.

Hi Scott.
I sent you an e-mail regarding the 36cc,
but never (yet) had a reply.
Anyway,
now i wish you will answer my question.
I recently bought a Giant SuperSportster,
and i was looking for the 46GT.
But,
now that the 36cc came up,
i am thinking seriously for it!!!!![X(]
Question is how to mount the 36cc to my G-SS,
because the muffler is on the rear.
What standoffs should i use?
Do they come with the engine?
If you want to know the distance between firewall--->prop hub let me know.

Regards,
Kostas

Hi Kostas,

I did answer your last email. Not sure what happened. I think the 36 may be better for that plane because of the reduced weight. What is the distance needed on it? The 36 has its own mounts with it.

Scott he needs 7.25 from firewall to propwasher...

Plenty of room for the muffler behind the engine and still have space vetween it and the firewall...

Hi Scott,

I checked the link to your website but saw nothing there on the new 36. Could you post some pictures for me to see what it looks like. Thanks

Hey Scott,

Using Pe Reiver's calculator sheet, it is pretty easy to jump around between prop sizes and get good estimates on performance. Get as close as you can on the prop and I will guesstimate the rest...Do you offer headers for the 36 and 46 as well? I think it will be the 46 for my new Pentathlon kit, but the 36 is sure tempting for slightly smaller stuff or less performance intensive applications. It would be really nice if it responded to the pipe like the Evolution 26cc does, then I could save 6oz and get the nice packaging all in one.... But I'm not going to hold my breath.

Thanks,
Mark

I have made one header for the 46 just for testing. The 36 would be very easy to make one for. I found a guy that can make thin stainless headers like KS. I am going to work with him and see what he can come up with. My header was a little heavy at 4.5oz. It is a question mark type header.

For the 46, a wrap around type (the question mark shape) would be what I want for the Pentathlon. The pipe needs to sit on the centerline of the fuse and there isn't enough room to cant the engine off of inverted to make it line up with a regular header. 4.5oz isn't bad for a wrap around type in this size range, maybe a touch heavy but not much. How did the 46 respond to being piped?

Mark,

It had responce that was faster than any engine I have ever ran. RPM was only a littl ehigher, but the header was way too short. I ran out of round tubing so I could not make it as long as it needed to be. I am going to remake it longer and cut to tune it. If I see a 300rpm gain I will be happy. That seems to be typical. But like I said, the responce was instant. Here is a pic of the header before the flange or round tube adapter is put on. It is 1" square 90deg angles I weld together.

Scott, sent you a PM. Perhaps we should take this off-line and not hijack the 36GT thread...
